Player Bio

After playing in local soccer leagues for several years, Hood would make the transition into football once he came into high school. He was a standout player from day 1, with his high speed and quality route running allowing him to earn All-State football honors twice during his high school career. He chose to play for his local Florida Gators, ignoring offers from giants such as Georgia and Alabama, and he was a swiss army knife for the Gators every season he played there. In 3 years with the Gators, Hood racked up almost 3300 all purpose yards as well as 30 touchdowns, despite suffering from mediocre quarterback play for several seasons.

Analysis by Chigg Bungus, NSFL Analyst

NSFL Comparison: Saba Donut

Overview

Hood is a prospect of extremes. On one hand, his incredible short area quickness, acceleration and straight line speed allows him to embarrass DSFL cornerbacks regularly. On the other hand, his relatively low weight for his frame and lack of strength means he’s going to struggle mightily once he gets to the big leagues and NSFL corners more aggressively press him at the line. On one hand, you have games such as Week 2 versus Portland where he can make big plays to drive his team downfield. On the other hand, you have games like Week 1 versus Dallas, where he got punished hard for his lack of strength and relatively low weight.

Strengths

Elite short area quickness

Very crisp route running, cuts are well practiced and highly developed

Doesn’t need to slow down to avoid tackles

Can take simple screens and curls to the house regularly

Fights hard for one-on-one balls, refuses to give up on contested catches

Will often draw double teams, safety help needed to truly keep him contained

Despite his size, can often win against press at the line with great footwork and hand movements, at least at the DSFL level

Locker room leader, great presence for the team

Weaknesses

Too little weight for his frame, needs to bulk up for the next level

Average hands overall

Can be contained by a good press corner

Simple offense in Minnesota means his current route tree is limited

Pitiful run blocking

Struggles to adjust to deep balls

Further Comments

“I think the kid has a ton of potential, for sure. He’s got great feet, good enough hands and damn good speed for a DSFL receiver. Biggest knock for me is that he’s a bit light at the moment, I’d like to see if he could bump it up to 200 pounds or somewhere around that range. He might also struggle disengaging from NSFL corners at the line of scrimmage, but again, you can coach someone on that sorta thing and bulk him up.” - NSFC WR Coach
