Player Bio

The Corpus Christi native started his high school football career as a wide receiver due to his high quality hands and high speed. Alcott would break many receiving records at Calallen High School, and the team would go on to win three state championships with Alcott leading the way on offense. Alcott was a highly touted prospect out of high school, but he was set on playing for his local Texas Longhorns if they gave him an offer. That offer never came, however, so he instead went to play for Ohio State, where he went on to have an incredible career, posting over 60 touchdowns and over 2900 receiving yards. He capped off his college career by beating Texas in the Rose Bowl, and declared for the draft after his junior season.

Analysis by Chigg Bungus, NSFL Analyst

NSFL Comparison: Richard D’Attoria V

Overview

Despite some concerns coming out of college, Alcott has made the transition from college wide receiver to DSFL safety rather easily. With his size, Alcott is optimal as a big nickel defender that can play sideline to sideline while also being dropped into the box to defeat the run. He’s a very physical player with good pursuit speed and solid coverage skills, especially versus tight ends. He may struggle at the next level facing high speed NSFL receivers, however.

Strengths

Strong frame allows him to fight through blocks in the run game

Extremely tough and competitive

High motor, never gives up on plays

Has strength and size to match up against tight ends one on one

Great tackling technique, able to wrap up runners efficiently

Fiery attitude makes teammates around him better

Great sideline to sideline speed

Very physical in pass coverage while not drawing penalties

Weaknesses

Hips can be stiff on some plays

Can struggle to read quarterbacks as they drop back

Uses his speed to close on the receiver rather than the football

Needs to improve his anticipation in coverage

Can be taken advantage of by high speed receivers he can’t get his hands onto

Reaction times in general need to improve

Further Comments

“He’s got the physical talent, I can say that much for sure. What I think his biggest issue is at the moment is that his mental game is just a bit slow. But you can scheme through that sort of thing and coaching can help him build a repertoire and get up to the speed of the NSFL. He has all of the uncoachable stuff already, so you can build him into something incredible.” - ASFC Head Coach
