I did a thing - infinitempg - 06-08-2020 Hi! So as some of you may know, I have been working on a thesis for my Master's Degree in Astrophysics. It's taken a lot of time, effort, and stress (and joining HO while doing this probably was a mistake lol) but I'm glad to announce that it's been fully completed! You can read it here if you want. And I'll be here to answer any questions you might have on it. It's like 50 pages though so I don't think anyone will actually read the whole thing ![]() Fun story - my defense and the Ultimus sim were on the same exact day, so I found out that I will get my degree and the Yeti won an Ultimus on the same day ![]() Anyways, now that that's over, I'm unemployed so that's fun TL;DR: there's a special type of supernova that might be caused by a special type of star. i looked into it, and it's a hard maybe? I did a thing - Frostbite - 06-08-2020 your too good for a sim league smh my head I did a thing - KoltClassic - 06-08-2020 I won't pretend to understand any of this, but I saw the picture on page 17 and the nearby words "runaway star" and was immediately terrified at that thought ![]() I did a thing - slothfacekilla - 06-08-2020 Congrats yo, this seems super impressive (glancing at your thesis it is way over my head). I did a thing - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 06-08-2020 Noticing a distinct lack of NSFL shout-outs in the acknowledgements ![]() Congratulations! I did a thing - Bigred1580 - 06-08-2020 I didn't see you thank your sim league in the acknowledgments... smh... Also, I think progenitor gained so much mass that the resulting ejection velocity was small. It makes more sense that way. But I suppose there is potential for a BSS not to have occured I did a thing - ValorX77 - 06-08-2020 It's quite a good read. Mine was Quote:"It can be implied that, while not the result of an eruptive LBV, the progenitor could have been ejected through BSS after gaining significant mass and CSM through I loved how that summed up his work so succinctly... I did a thing - iseedoug - 06-08-2020 Congrats Man! go science! I did a thing - ScorpXCracker - 06-08-2020 I tried reading that and that was way too confusing for me congrats tho |
