Disappointed with a GFX grade? - Jangorhino - 06-16-2020
Please don’t tie any emotion to a disappointing gfx grade. Read these thoughts and hopefully we can all be a little warmer and fuzzier.
The thing I’ve figured out is the gfx grade isn’t a judgment of quality or a show of appreciation for effort or attention to detail or a salute to your eye. The grade is simply just that, a grade against the rubric’s standards. Plain and simple.
So, all I’d say to people who are unhappy with gfx grades is to please try to follow the rubric standards if they wish to get a better grade.
Personally, money and grades aren’t what I’m in it for, my goal is to give something to someone which they will appreciate and also something I’m proud of making.
Truth be told, I’d do just as many gfx in the same manner if they were not graded and if they were given a flat rate payout like media!! All the graders got tough jobs and I’m learning that more as time goes on!

Its also nice to note that there is an arbitration thread now to contest your grades. For me, even if my grade doesn't improve, I like knowing that I at least have a chance to try and negotiate for a better grade

Feel free to tell us why you think we're wrong an we'll all take into consideration.
I recognize fully that we aren't a perfect department, I want people to make use of the arbitration thread if they aren't happy with their grade, and even better if they want to learn what they can do for a better grade in the future join the graphics discord and talk to the graders. Part of their job is to point those who want to learn more in the right direction for learning tools better (like youtube tutorials and the like) and offer new ideas.
