DSFL HO Newsletter - S23 Begins Tonight! - TomHanks - 06-16-2020 Rules Changes to the DSFL We’ve had an exciting last two rules summits and there are going to be a lot of changes to the DSFL this season. The biggest and most exciting change passed last offseason and is therefore in effect starting with tonight’s games: the elimination of inactive players from DSFL depth charts. The DSFL had become full of send down, high TPE IA players who were making it harder and harder for new players to be able to see the impacts of their TPE earnings. Now, with only actives in the league, everyone has the opportunity to shine and be a standout player on their team. It also solves the issues of awards going to IA players in the DSFL, something that has been a fairly prevalent issue in the past. However, it’s important that we stress we don’t want anyone who has gone inactive to feel like they can’t come back. All player pages that have been removed from their DSFL team’s roster page can be found here: http://nsfl.jcink.net/index.php?showforum=421. If any of those players return, they can immediately be reinstated on their DSFL team’s depth chart. Along the same vein, the league also voted that anyone who is inactive at the end of the regular season cannot be nominated for any awards. Like the last rule I think this is a great change and I’m happy to see it implemented in the DSFL as it highlights the new active players. This most recent rules summit passed one final rule I want to highlight today even though it won’t go into effect until next season, which will be mandating that all active players in the DSFL must receive playing time. I don’t think this will be as significant of an issue as it has been thanks to the new eligibility rules, but it is definitely a great step for the league as a whole. Make sure to watch out for more on that next season! GM Changes The DSFL has had a lot of GM turnover lately, which for a developmental league is great to see! Lots of new players are getting opportunities to learn the skills of GMing in this league, and I have a ton of faith in the current crop to do what’s best for the league and to help every new player have the best experience they can. To the new DSFL GMs, my best advice is this: do not ever be afraid to ask questions. Everyone in your war room and in GM chat wants to help you. The DSFL is more about the overall league experience than any one team, so reach out any time you need help or are just unsure about anything. Part of our job as DSFL HO is helping you guys become the best GMs you can be, and that’s a part of our job we take seriously. The New HO The most significant change to the DSFL is the fact that we now have a dedicated Head Office, so I figured I’d wrap this up by giving everyone a quick glimpse into what we’ve been up to since we were announced. A lot of it is still behind the scenes things so I can’t delve too deep into it, but here’s an overview of what to look out for. • The Prospect Bowl o While this has passed, a huge shoutout to @Hallmonitor_20 for his work on the Prospect Bowl. It was a hard-fought tournament by all three teams, and was a ton of fun for all the new players. Looking forward to an equally successful Bowl next season! • Closer monitored DSFL position switches o Any updater knows that DSFL position switches can be difficult at times since they’re one of the more difficult things in this league to grasp. To help out our updaters and make sure everyone in the DSFL is playing in the position they want to play in as soon as possible, we now have a system in place to confirm that position switches are completed correctly before the updater goes over them. • Rookie chat changes o There are a few things being worked on under wraps, but the changes you’ll see right away are the introduction of the DSFL rookies only chat and the return of highlights! One of the pieces of feedback we received was that rookie chat had been somewhat commandeered by veteran users, and it wasn’t really a space where new users felt comfortable jumping into. Now with the rookies only section, there’s a safer space to get to know your individual class as a new create and ask questions without having to feel like you’re interrupting someone else. Highlights, originally introduced by @[nunccoeppi] and once revived by @IsaStarcrossed, will be brought back to rookie chat! This project, which will be headed up by @Tesla, gives everyone who didn’t have a chance to watch the sim or people who just like to read about their player making a great play a new way to celebrate their dot being the best dot. A huge thanks to Tesla for volunteering on this, and I hope you’re all looking forward to it as much as I am! ![]() DSFL Commissioner DSFL HO Newsletter - S23 Begins Tonight! - slothfacekilla - 06-16-2020 First heck HO for the DSFL era for me, you're welcome Tom DSFL HO Newsletter - S23 Begins Tonight! - Faded - 06-16-2020 Wow TH, these are actually all great! You're right I was far too harsh DSFL HO Newsletter - S23 Begins Tonight! - Tesla - 06-16-2020 I love the change to reward activity given that is the purpose of the DSFL. This all should do a great job of that. Honestly though I thought there was already something about actives having to receive a set amount of play time. Good luck to all the new DSFL general managers! I know most of them and I believe they will perform wonderfully. I personally think the Prospect Bowl went quite well. It seemed well managed from what I saw and I approve of the work that went into it. I hope to do the job justice and to exceed expectations. Looking forward to writing about so many of our great rookies! Thanks for your hard work! |
