*The Early Days in Norfolk - SchwarzNarr - 06-17-2020 Dear Diary, Norfolk is a little bit weird, but I like them. They have been very welcoming and I just have to say that it’s refreshing. The locker has been a friendly place, even if I question my decision to join the league. I’m curious to see where this goes. Dear Diary, The team has developed what I can only describe as an illness. They began counting today. I’m not sure what to do but join them. Have I secretly been drafted into the Cult of Numbers? Dear Diary, The team seems frustrated when the count is wrong. How do they know when the count is wrong? Is this some ploy to secretly help our quarterback know when to snap the ball? The counting seems to become a life obsession. I slowly feel myself joining in on the insanity. Dear Diary, While we have a penguin on our team, and other fantastical creatures in the league, there is still no moose in the league. I’m not sure how much longer I can go on this way if we keep having a small amount of moose in the league. There are rumors of a new all moose team, but I am fearful that these remain just that; rumors. Dear Diary, Today I realized that one of my teammates had been bamboozled by his mentor. I am uncertain what to do with this information, but it is clear that something must be done. I do not yet know what the implications for this team, the league, and this former NSFL legend are. Dear Diary, I wanted to kick more field goals during preseason, I know my leg is good enough. Coach didn't agree though, and instead I was forced into punting. Those punts resulted in touchbacks. I know I would have made the field goal. Dear Diary, There were fun facts shared today in our locker room. I have to say that while these pieces of information were indeed new facts to me, I am not yet sure how they were fun. I am deeply disturbed and there is not much more that I can do. I’m stuck here. I cannot leave. Dear Diary, I tried to tell someone about my concern for a fellow member of my team. I don’t yet know how the league will respond. I sure hope that they take into consideration the poor innocence of this animal. He deserves better than this. The league deserves better than this. Dear Diary, The team got into a fight about lemons today. Some sided on the side of “too sour”, others on the side of “delicious.” While I fell in the delicious camp, I couldn’t help but feel concerned for my place as starting kicker. Could I have said something controversial enough that they would have brought back Bauer Bot? Dear Diary, The cake to frosting ratio was a heated discussion. They believe there is no such thing as too much cake. I believe there is no such thing as too much frosting. One teammate even had the audacity to claim melted icing is the best. I am worried for my safety. Dear Diary, It is rumored that there is a team birthday soon. I do not know whose or what is expected upon this most joyous of days, but judging by all previous celebrations and expectations, I am scared. Is this why the cake discussion was so intense? I am concerned. Dear Diary, The team has created a way for us to kidnap and capture innocent creatures. Your ability to do this apparently has a positive impact on your role in the team. I worked hard to catch many of these creatures. I am concerned for their safety. There is no guide on how to properly care for an apple pie turtle or charcoal. What if they die? Dear Diary, Members of the team keep trying to convince me to join something they call werewolf. Could it be that I've somehow stumbled into a cult heavily connected to mysticism? Does this circle back to the counting? How can I continue to be in a league that supports the occult? Is this because Athena is my goddess? What will she think if I am forced to worship another. Dear Diary, The team frequently communicates solely with videos of animals. Are these secretly substitutes for letters? Have I stumbled upon some secret code? I continue to post videos of moose to attempt to communicate with my team, but I am uncertain if I am communicating in the appropriate manner. Dear Diary, The team continues to chant “Norfolk Best Folk.” on a regular basis. I find myself wanting to join in. Is this the beginning of brainwashing? I feel the importance of writing down my words more than ever now. If I become no longer me, at least I have a record for everyone to see. Dear Diary, There have been many references to a location known as Taco Bell. They seem to refer to it as a holy place. Many worshipers - teammates - visit this location multiple times per week or month. I am not certain what to think. Is Taco Bell where we worship the numbers? Dear Diary, There is a mysterious man named Doug who appears infrequently within the chat. He congratulates and offers rewards, but I am not certain his role within the team. It is rumored he started the team, but, how can this be? Norfolk is mysterious in this way. Dear Diary, Somehow, the mysterious people of Norfolk are rich. Richer than I could have ever imagined. How have they come to gain this much money? It is unclear the ways of Isa and Tesla, but goodness knows that I can have hope when it comes to achieving their financial situation. Dear Diary, There was debate about the best large small cat. It came down between Maine Coons and Norweigian Forest Cats. Maine Coons may be larger, but Norwegians are far more majestic.
