At the start of the off season I was contacted by two teams. Orange County and Baltimore. Both teams interviewed me and I believe I gave a good impression. Yellowknife has been actively evaluating me throughout my waiver season and I had a real feeling I would be returning as a wraith. Then the big trade came and the Wraiths secured the #1 spot. I was told I was going to be the first pick as soon as the spot was secured.

Which defensive player were you the saddest to see "get away?"
Get away? You mean leave Yellowknife I assume. If I'm being honest, nobody really. Obviously it's tough to see teammates leave, but if it's best for the franchise then it's a no brainer.

With so many changes on the defensive side of the ball, do you see this as a new defense, or just new personnel into the same culture?
Yeah it's definitely going to be the same mindset as last year. Everybody here wants to win and be successful as possible. These guys will slot right in and our work ethic will only continue to improve.

Personally the most important thing to remember when you're a prospect is pretty much to remain calm. It's probably easier for me to say this going at #1 then my close friend Torque Lewith who went late in the draft, just relax and wait for your name to be picked.

Hopefully people will look back on this draft class as one of if not the best class in history. There's a lot of quality in this years draft and some stars will be born.

Personally I find that I don't really need to get hyped up. Everybody has their own style and mine is pretty much the same as off the pitch, chill. I do listen to a lot of Childish Gambino and J Cole though, so that's primarily my mix.

Why did you put on so much weight?
This offseason I decided to bulk up as I felt that my leaner shape last year might've held me back in some aspects. I spent more time on a 4 day / week weights program and really bulked cleanly and am happy now to be at a fine 200lbs.

Haha, I'm probably not going to do anything flashy with it. Most of it will be put away in a savings account.

Yeah I knew I was going #1 for some time before the draft, as did many of the mock drafters.

Have you talked to Dirk since being drafted?
Unfortunately Dirk has been away on personal matters the past few weeks, I'm sure that when he's back here we can take off from where we left off last year.

Which draft pick this year besides you have you been the most excited for?
Without a doubt, Kevin Cushing. I was shocked when he fell to a point where we could pick him up. He's got the potential to go right to the top. Some have questioned his attitude when it comes to teammates but people said the exact same thing about Michael Jordan and he ended up the GOAT.
