*Marc Spector post draft press conference - RedCydranth - 07-20-2017

In an auditorium of a Houston, TX high school a wooden podium with that school's logo, a reformatted 80s Denver Broncos D with a horse bucking through it, sits in the middle of the stage. A slender African American man walks out wearing a tan suit with a burgundy tie and pocket square and approaches the podium.

"Thank you all for coming here today. My client will be out in just a moment. I've known him for only a few years, but he's grown tremendously since the day I met him. I went up there to meet this kid, it was a terrible wet December day in New York. The day before, his team had lost it's 4th straight game. I expected him to be in a foul mood, but he was the opposite. The biggest thing I took away from that day was that he just loved playing the game. Win or lose. After coaching him for a couple years, helping him transition from receiver to DB, he's maintained that same glow and love for the sport. I'm proud to present to you, the newest member of the Orange County Otters, Marc Spector!"

From the left hand side of the stage, Marc Spector emerges from the darkness and waves at everyone. He's wearing an Otters cap and smiling from ear to ear. He shakes hands and half hugs the man at the podium before the man takes a couple steps back so Marc can take the microphone.

"David Rollis, everyone. He's my mentor, coach at Rice and now he's my agent. I wouldn't be here without this man. Thank you so much for everything you've done, Dave. You're really the best."

He then looks down at the crowd, smirks and behind to talk again.

"Thank you all for coming, I truly appreciate it. As you all know by now, I've been selected in the fourth round of the NSFL Draft by the Orange County Otters. I'm here to take any and all questions before I hop on my flight to Los Angeles."

How'd it feel being drafted?

Amazing. I knew I had a few teams who were interested but I didn't think I had a high enough grade to get dressed as early as I did. Feels great to be wanted.

What are your aspirations in season 1?

To do everything in my power to shut down every receiver I line up against. Get better at my position and help my team win games. Win the Ultimus Cup. Not appear on "C'mon Man".

What have you learned about the Otters so far, good and bad?

I learned that they take commitment very seriously. Everyone in that locker room is there because they want to be and want to win. The bad? They don't have Starburst in the vending machines. Had I known that before I signed my contract, I would have made including them in the there a clause.

Do you see yourself starting right away in the depleted Otters secondary?

Yes. That is my intention. I sincerely hope they didn't draft me in the 4th round to ride the pine. If there were clear and away better corners than me, sure I'd be okay with sitting back and playing a lesser role, but they need me out there and I'm not gonna disappoint.

What's your main goal this first season?

I addressed this a moment ago, but I'll add in working my way up to being the top corner on the team. Optimally I'd love to make the Pro-Bowl but I know there's a lot of good talent at CB out there.

Describe your perfect cheeseburger.

Well, I'm gonna have to say it's gotta be made of Elk. Tastiest meat on the planet. Make it a thick half pound patty too. Sharp cheddar and Gouda cheese with some fried onions and mushrooms and a couple strips of Hickory Smoked Bacon. Put that on a brioche bun. You got perfection.
