*Micah Hendrix - Post Draft Presser - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 07-20-2017 ((@124715 you can grade this now, nobody wants to listen to me babble anymore.)) Hendrix ascends the stage and makes his way to the podium. He's sporting a fresh new cap featuring the Philadelphia Liberty logo. His eyes show he's tired, he clearly didn't get much sleep last night. And for good reason! But, he's still wearing that trademark smile. "I just want to say thank you first and foremost to the Philadelphia Liberty for allowing me to be a key part of this new franchise. I hope that I can bring this team and the great city of Philadelphia a lot to cheer for. Last week, most people didn't know my name and if you had heard it, you probably didn't know much about me. Now, I'm pretty sure you all know who I am. So, I'll be here taking questions for a while, because I'm sure you got some." What do you like least about Liberty so far? *Micah Hendrix - Post Draft Presser - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 07-23-2017 (07-21-2017, 05:30 PM)Noppadet Wrote:What was the week leading up to the draft like for you? Anything notable? The week before the draft was extremely busy for me as it was with any prospect I am sure. Since I did not get an invite to the combine, most teams wanted me to come in for a quick workout and interview. I was getting some interest from every team except the Legion who didn't have many draft picks anyways so I wasn't surprised. The morning of the draft when the trade came through from Liberty to move up to 8, I was certain I was going to be taken in the first round based on talks I had had with the GMs, so that was very exciting but also gave me a big relief about wondering where I would land. The feel in the locker room is great, you can tell the players want to be here and are ready to work hard for a common goal. Every interaction I have had with the coaches and front office has been extremely positive since even before I was drafted. As a new team we know there's a lot of work to do, but I feel very good about our chances of success. I love the city of Philadelphia, the people, the culture, the food! I'm ready to give these fans something to get fired up about. No complaints from me, love it here *Micah Hendrix - Post Draft Presser - WinstonKodogo - 07-23-2017 Hi Micah thanks for doing this. 1. Everyone is talking about the Matt James situation how has it affected the locker room? 2. With such a new team how is the cohesion, how have team been getting to know one another? 3. How have you prepared yourself for moving to a new city 4. We saw the pictures of the Liberty squad running up the stairs at the museum of art in a Rocky Tribute. Who does the best Sly impression? *Micah Hendrix - Post Draft Presser - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 07-23-2017 (07-23-2017, 08:04 AM)WinstonKodogo Wrote:Hi Micah thanks for doing this. 1. There's a lot going around in the media about what happened with Matt, especially after his trade. He seemed like a good guy and talented player, but he clearly wasn't motivated to be here like everyone else. I think the trade will work out for both sides and I hope Matt does well with his new team. Good teams aren't afraid to mix up the roster and pass on talent that just wasn't a good fit in the locker room and I think our locker room will be stronger as a result. 2. We've been having lots of discussions in the locker room and putting in extra time after practice to build chemistry. As a group of players that have never played together at all, training camp has been a critical time for us to grow together. I think by the end of preseason we will be in sync. 3. Well the nice thing was my wife and I knew we were going to have to move ahead of time of course and Philadelphia ended up being closer than most of the other NSFL cities. We stayed in a hotel for a little while until we could get settled in our new place and the team was a big help in getting us situated. Everyone we have encountered has been extremely gracious and we're looking forward to being a big part of the community. 4. Yeah and those stairs are no joke! Perry (@Perry87) is definitely the best at impressions, he's probably the biggest character on the team. Love having people like him in the locker room. Thanks for the questions |
