*Using Discord activity to create a DSFL Mock Draft - slate - 08-01-2020

What if DSFL teams drafted players solely based on how active they had been in their Discord servers? In this scientific study, I used the MEE6 leaderboards for each team's server to construct a draft board for that team of all of the rookie prospects that had participated in their locker room, from highest experience to lowest. For Tijuana, which does not have a public LR, and for Portland, for whom I couldn't locate the MEE6 leaderboard, I just summed each prospect's experience across all the locker rooms to create an overall leaderboard that they drafted from.

A few disclaimers before I begin. I compiled the MEE6 leaderboard data across Friday night / Saturday morning, so there are bound to be some inaccuracies by the time this is posted or by the time you are reading it. Additionally, I had to manually match forum names to Discord usernames so I'm bound to have made a mistake here and there. I also apologize in advance if I misassign pronouns to anyone.

Although this is mostly a blatant play for the 1.5x media bonus, I do think there is some interesting content hidden in here. Speaking personally, I find myself spending more time in Discord locker rooms for teams that I feel a personal fit with, and so this publicly observable interaction may be a good proxy for private interactions between scouts and prospects that lead to those feelings. However also speaking from personal experience, I have often just lurked in those locker rooms rather than participate, which can't be measured by MEE6.

Let's get into it!

Round 1

POR 1. King Tutankhamun, RB
Waldo sits at the top of the overall Discord leaderboard thanks to a ton of messages on the Minnesota Grey Ducks server, but Portland takes him at #1 right ahead of the Grey Ducks since they don't have a MEE-6 leaderboard of their own to use.

MIN 2. Dave Batista, TE
Their #1 prospect gone, Minnesota turns to their second choice here and takes frick_nasty. Batista is frick_nasty’s recreate, but he was with the Grey Ducks for his previous character which almost surely is where this volume comes from. Perhaps Minnesota will reward that activity in a previous life by adding Batista to their locker room as well?

BBB 3. Owen Holloway, QB
The run on offensive players continues as yet another recreate is taken. speculadora is far and away the highest prospect overall in Myrtle Beach's locker room.

TIJ 4. Dan Foster, TE
Given the Luchadores' private locker room, they, like Portland, are using the overall big board here. They're able to snag the #2 overall prospect and the first new create taken in Arkz, who's been very active in almost every team locker room.

LON 5. Marlon Alexander, OL
In no surprise to anyone who's been hanging out in London's locker room, platanocat is the Royals' top overall prospect and becomes the first offensive lineman taken in the draft thanks to his prodigious Discord output.

DAL 6. Etrigan T. Slayer, DE
The first defensive player off the board, Thiath was high up on both London's and Dallas's leaderboards.

KCC 7. Felix Archstone, OL
In a perhaps ominous sign, Kansas City has the smallest number of rookies on their leaderboard and the lowest maximum MEE6 rank of any of the teams with available data. GlimsTC has been somewhat active across all of the discords but not tops in any of them but Kansas City. The Coyotes are able to snag their #1 ranked prospect at the end of the first round.

NOR 8. Guy Fields, LB
With their #1 prospect in Dan Foster already off the board, Norfolk is able to snag a solid defensive pickup thanks to r0tzbua's plentiful contributions to their server. Fields was the top overall prospect remaining when accounting for all leaderboards, so he's a solid pickup at the end of the first round.

Round 2

POR 9. Albert Ruschmann, DE
Although Fields was snatched out right from under them, the Pythons are happy to get Ruschmann, the #7 overall prospect, here. katarn's stock is high mostly due to his incredible volume of messages in the London locker room, but he has a solid spread of activity across other teams which gives him a well-rounded profile.

MIN 10. James Gath, CB
The #1 overall cornerback prospect gets taken off the board here. Gath's activity has mostly been concentrated in the Minnesota LR and they reward that with a 2nd round pick.

BBB 11. Adam C. Spencer, WR
AdamS is Myrtle Beach's third overall prospect behind Batista and Holloway, a nice pickup for them in the second round, although his activity in other locker rooms has been limited.

TIJ 12. Joe Show, OL
Mostly due to his activity in the London LR, Jguy has established himself as a top overall prospect and is the 3rd OL off the board in the first two rounds of a deep OL class.

LON 13. Killian Chambers, WR
After their #1 prospect fell into their laps in the first round, they've seen a run on the rest of their board since then with #2-5 taken in the ensuing picks. charlit is yet another prospect with most of their activity in the London LR (sensing a trend yet?) and adds more offensive firepower to London.

DAL 14. Raylan Crowder, DE
Meanwhile, Dallas is able to snag #2 on its leaderboard with its second pick. Asked Madden has been fairly active in every public LR, but the bulk of his activity has come with the Birddogs so it's a good match.

KCC 15. NationalSimulation FootballLeague, S
While SDCore has been more active in the Grey Ducks locker room, Kansas City is his second most frequented.

NOR 16. Ananda Adyan, OL
When I started this exercise I thought TMosura would go much higher than this honestly, because they seem to be really active, but I guess it's been spread throughout the team locker rooms and the rookie discord so he slipped down a few teams' draft boards. Norfolk stops his slide here though with another great value pick.

Round 3
POR 17. Darren Pama, TE
Yet another rookie who's high on the aggregate leaderboard thanks to their activity in the Royals locker room. Portland snags ztarwarz (let'splay on Discord) at the top of the 3rd round and gets a quite active user with a decent spread of activity across several teams' locker rooms as well.

MIN 18. GOAT TANK, DE
Eldorian has been active in several locker rooms, but wasn't particularly high on any draft boards leading to a mini-slide into the top of the 3rd round. Minnesota had him as the #7 prospect on their leaderboard, so a good value pickup for them here with an iconic player.

BBB 19. Leo Bloomfield, K/P
Myrtle Beach would have loved to get Goat Tank here, but have to settle for the next highest prospect on their board with the first special teams prospect off the board. BloomeyGB isn't the most active user, but most of the activity has been concentrated in the Buccs locker room and it's rewarded with a pretty high pick for a K/P.

TIJ 20. Jameson Vermillion, RB
A lot of solid overall prospects have been taken to this point, but the Luchadores get Vainknight13 / ai_of_vanity, who's been quite active in both the London and Dallas locker rooms, here. To be honest for some of these prospects with different Discord / forum usernames I didn't do the best due diligence so I may be even underrating the activity here, this could end up being a steal.

LON 21. Bob Roberts, S
Zayn has been quite active in several team locker rooms, but most of his activity has been in London's as with a lot of other prospects, so this is a good fit between user and team.

DAL 22. Jake Fencik, K/P
Not to be outdone by Myrtle Beach, Dallas nabs their own K/P with their #5 prospect xenosthelegend.

KCC 23. Alex Reed, WR
Another pick that's been more active in Norfolk but gets taken before they have the chance. Nylar is the 3rd WR taken here as Kansas City's #7 prospect.

NOR 24. Corran West, CB
After getting their #2 and #3 picks in the first two rounds, Norfolk is right back at it taking their #4 prospect, FlashSpider-man, here.

4th Round
POR 25. Crozier McCoy, DE
piratecaptaindom is one of the most evenly spread rookies across all locker rooms, with good activity in London's, Dallas's, and Norfolk's locker room. A little bit of value here with the #20 overall prospect.

MIN 26. Marty Martinsson, LB
Minnesota's draft board is starting to thin out a little bit but there's still a decent number of prospects with good activity for them. While sl1nny hasn't participated in every locker room, he's had solid activity in both London and Minnesota LRs. and is the #11 prospect on the Grey Ducks' board.

BBB 27. Djibutee McJimmerson, TE
Another team without much depth in its leaderboard, Myrtle Beach is already drafting prospects with just a dozen or so messages in the 4th round. They nab a pretty good pick with UberBJ who's been seen in several locker rooms regularly.

TIJ 28. Rusty Rucker, LB
The #21 overall prospect is a nice pickup for Tijuana here. LancedJack has been quite active across all of the team locker rooms, but his lack of focus on any particular one lets him slide to one of the teams using the overall leaderboard.

LON 29. Peter Patterson, CB
Well would you look at that, it's me!

DAL 30. James Hoffman, CB
Back-to-back CBs in the middle of the 4th, kingsleigher is more active than me in general but just a couple slots behind me on London's leaderboard.

KCC 31. Terry Tate, LB
Almost all of Brane_Chyld's Discord activity has been with the Coyotes, who reward him with a 4th round pick here despite being the #46 overall prospect.

NOR 32. Jimi DeSoto, LB
The value picks keep on coming for Norfolk, getting their #5 prospect in the 4th round. Norfolk's leaderboard is so different than other teams' that they can keep picking up players with a lot of activity in their locker room even in the later rounds without competing as much with other teams.

5th Round

POR 33. Gavin Leclerc, CB
I believe all of gav's activity was in the London locker room, but Portland swoops in here to take him due to his large output there.

MIN 34. Rich Triplet, CB
Another set of back-to-back CBs! kotasa has sent only a handful of messages in the Grey Ducks discord and yet is their #14 prospect.

BBB 35. Cmon Skiuuup, TE
While not hugely active, AirCrou has a decent spread of activity across London's Myrtle Beach's, and Norfolk's LR, and the high activity in the other 2 LRs means Myrtle Beach is the team that gets to draft him.

TIJ 36. Milk Mann, S
A similar dynamic here as bkfootball has been active mostly in London and Norfolk, but it's an overall team that picks him up.

LON 37. Sheed Thebaw, DT
London would have rather taken Milk Mann here, but nutbarspadge's activity levels in London are high enough to get him drafted as their #26 prospect.

DAL 38. Richard Leaking, LB
Another user who I feel like I see more often than the teams' leaderboards would suggest, ReverendOReily has the most activity in Dallas's LR and is their #14 prospect.

KCC 39. Abdul-Jabbar Abid, DE
With a good spread of activity across several locker rooms but not highly active in any, Saguaro Cactus seems like a good value pick here for KC as they start to run out of users who have sent more than a handful of messages.

NOR 40. Henry Grant, DE
Egglton has almost entirely spent time in the Norfolk locker room, making him a natural pickup here for the Seawolves even if other teams haven't interacted with him as much.

Round 6

POR 41. Zach Crossley, WR
The entirety of ajtigger's activity has been in London's LR but there's enough there to make him the #38 overall prospect and the pick for Portland here.

MIN 42. Mike Rotchburns, RB
SchoolboyShue is a nice pickup here as Minnesota's #15 prospect when their #16-#25 have all been taken already.

BBB 43. Mark Walker, WR
deadlunatic has appeared in every locker room but by far the bulk of his activity has been with Myrtle Beach, where he is the #12 prospect on their leaderboard.

TIJ 44. Tex Wrecks, DE
The #40 overall prospect, 209tacos has shown up in many locker rooms but their activity has pretty evenly spread throughout them.

LON 45. Davriel Lavigne, S
Yet another prospect that has only appeared in London's LR, Raven is the #28 prospect for them.

DAL 46. Harley Frank, WR
Over half of Beebob's activity has been in Dallas's LR.

KCC 47. Jack Burton, K/P
JoeCrool has only a dozen or so messages across all teams' discords, but Kansas City is running out of highly rated prospects - Burton is their #14 prospect despite only sending 6 messages in their LR.

NOR 48. Wasrabi Gleel, LB
Norfolk's depth is starting to run out as they take the #17 prospect on their board and #48 overall.

Round 7

POR 49. Swantavius Jones, OL
With most of their activity in London's LR and a handful of appearances with other teams, Swanty is a nice pickup here as the #44 overall prospect.

MIN 50. L'Gazzy Burfict, LB
y2bobman has sent 4 messages in Minnesota's LR but he's the most active prospect they have left.

BBB 51. Elijah Torres, CB
The #18 prospect on their board has spent about 2/3 of their time in Myrtle Beach's locker room, with the other 1/3 in Dallas's.

TIJ 52. Tayshawn Crunk, S
Crunk has shown up in all the locker rooms to some extent but has probably been more active on Twitter as far as I can tell. The #45 overall prospect gets taken after a few near misses in the last round.

LON 53. Ninton Quelson, OL
Almost all of WailingOtter's activity has been in London's locker room, with a couple of messages in Myrtle Beach's as well.

DAL 54. Duncan Donuts, OL
DunkinDuncan's been exclusively active in Dallas's locker room, letting them swipe him here as their #23 prospect.

KCC 55. Sam Roes, DE
Roezam's sent only a few messages, though they have appeared on almost every server. Kansas City takes him here as they've run out of users with more than 5 messages sent.

NOR 56. Crayne Whebet, WR
Montegue has had the most activity with London, Myrtle Beach, and Norfolk - the latter snags him here.

Round 8+

Alright let's get this article over with.

POR 57. Ben Anabender, CB

MIN 58. Dukburg QuakStak, CB

BBB 59. Xmus Flaxon Jaxon-Waxon, S

TIJ 60. Clay Stallworth, OL

LON 61. Chuck Roth, OL

DAL 62. Curtis Blackshear, CB

KCC 63. Mason Gillion, CB

NOR 64. Adam Mellott, OL

POR 65. Brick Van Sanzo, DE

MIN 66. Willy Weasel, WR

BBB 67. Adam Mellott, OL

TIJ 68. Tony Yeboah, S

LON 69. Jeffery Jefferson, DE

DAL 70. Sterling Moss, OL

KCC 71. Troy Watson, DE

NOR 72. Connor Quigley, OL

POR 73. Bill Brasky, QB

MIN 74. Jackie Daytona, QB (Now using overall leaderboard since they've run out prospects active on their discord server)

BBB 75. Medicinal Toblerone, OL (Same as MIN)

TIJ 76. Hank Sakner, DE

LON 77. Bonifacius van den Huevel, DT

DAL 78. Lebby Netwon, WR (Also reverting to overall leaderboard)

KCC 79. Bobby Hoffman, DE (Same)

NOR 80. Buster Bawlls, RB (Same)

POR 81. Steven Wadham, S

And as far as I can tell no one else has appeared on any team's MEE6 leaderboard, so that will end this mock draft.

This was really cool. However, there will probably be some shakeups. For example, expect Corran West to drop a lot. I'm hoping he gets taken in the last round. We will see though.

Even if you could see the Tijuana locker room you wouldn't find mee6 rankings bc that abomination will never be allowed there
