*Rating DSFL draft classes based on cookies - Kotasa - 08-09-2020 Hey all! Rich Triplet here again with some more analysis, this time I am going to run things a bit differently. Due to my boredom with ranking specific prospects with some losing interest in gaining TPE, and the draft having already occurred I figured I would rank the draft classes as a whole this time. There is a twist though! Instead of your traditional rankings I will assign grades as if they were a cookie, so in no particular order here are my rankings. 1. Portland Pythons The memes from this one are just truly amazing, but honestly, I do not hate this draft at all. With a solid 1st overall pick, who can sure up the back end of that defense easily and already has chemistry with the team due to being picked up on waivers last year. The memes came from their next 3 picks, which all played tight end; rumor has it that these guys will be switching positions and were drafted more for the users behind the player. They were a little light on drafting for need, but you cannot fault any team for drafting best available. Later rounds show to me that they are trying to shore up the line with some users, that may or may not come back to the league. There is also some concern in the cornerback position, but with their front 7 pickups that might not lead to much of a concern. I think this team is getting memed on a little too hard, but I also think they 100% deserve it. Three tight ends guys??? Rating: Oatmeal Raisin, not everyone loves it but the ones that do will not change their mind. 2. Minnesota Grey Ducks The one team that appears to have gone heavy at skill positions Minnesota had some solid early picks, getting a QB that won the prospect bowl. Two solid running backs to help with the load and a great receiver to throw to is an awesome way to transform your offense very quickly. Not to mention a solid corner at second overall, even if he has not completed Chambers of Xeric. I enjoy this offensive overall as compared to the rest of the teams that went heavy defense, with the most picks of the draft I think they can get a lot of solid players out of it. A big part of the DSFL is finding late round guys that turn it around and become active in this league and Minnesota has the best chance due to their massive twenty-four picks. Rating: Biscotti, their draft took a while and goes great with a cup of coffee. 3. Myrtle Beach Buccaneers GOAT TANK! Rating: GOAT TANK! Sorry I do not know what came over me there, the bucs were a fun team to watch draft. They got some great players with even greater names. Getting studs at all three levels in the first three rounds that can solidify this defense for the upcoming season, I wouldn’t expect it to last long though. I can see those three getting called up early after the ISFL draft. I like the addition of a QB in the fourth, they may have been able to wait but with how thin the draft was at that position I can see why they took him. Grabbing a weapon for him in the following round is another great choice. More defense after that could really transform this team rather quickly, as is standard in the DSFL. Real rating: Shortbread, solid additions to the team do not expect them to stay together for very long. 4. Tijuana Luchadores This team is going back to the basics of football, a strong defense and a great running game. With six of their first seven picks going to defense and that final one being a running back. Tijuana is looking to rebuild the wall of their early days with some offensive line pickups, some of which could even trigger a steal card. Grabbing a WR late that is active isn’t a bad idea given Howlett and Vequain will be called up soon. This team is poised for a big season, that second round pick also looks like a goat and there is no bias at all in that statement. Rating: Sugar Cookie, not everyone’s favorite but nobody hates it. 5. London Royals London started off this draft hot with two great picks, everyone’s favorite prospect Albert Ruschmann in the first. Followed up with Tayshawn Crunk in the second, a speedster that can play sidelines to sidelines. You really must hope they draft well given they had the fewest selections and it looks like they nailed it. Spending three of their eleven picks on O line, this was early in the draft as well. London looks to bring a wall of their own and really push for a championship this season, we’ll see if it works out. They also added a kicker and I am a sucker for special teams. Rating: Chocolate Chip, not a ton of substance but very solid. 6. Dallas Birddogs A solid facelift from the bird dogs had them bringing in three of the four horsemen, a damn shame they couldn’t land together. Another team that spent a lot on defense, Dallas spent seven of their first eight picks on defense. Bringing in three new safeties, two of which had a little beef, is a great look for the secondary. Callous was a stud in the prospect bowl games and will continue to impress in Dallas. They were more top heavy in this draft missing out on some of the mid round picks, but I think that can pay off, making moves to get your guys usually works out in your favor. They will look to get back into the postseason with a revamped defense. Rating: Monster cookie, with three of the four horsemen could you expect any other cookie? (I expect that locker room will look much like a monster cookie) 7. Kansas City Coyotes If I’m only allowed to use one word to rate Kansas Cities’ draft, I would use THICC. Of theirs seventeen picks Kansas used seven on linemen and another four on linebackers. Throwing in a running back for good measure Kansas looks poised to try and play bully ball and win in the trenches. Shoring up the secondary with some solid defensive back picks in Peter Patterson and Tony Yeboah, they’re looking to make you pass so those guys can make plays. We’ll see if the thickness will be enough to take them back to the ultimini and if it will be enough to win it. Rating: Peanut butter cookie, so much thickness. 8. Norfolk Seawolves The reigning champs were another team that looked to continue their dominance by grabbing some solid defensive players. Adding a horseman to the locker room will be great for their community, Rusty Rucker was separated from his boys for good reason. He will look to play a key role for them in the upcoming season. Still a shame he couldn’t end up with the other three though. Partnering up with Desoto and reinforcing that secondary with Druckburg and Xmus Flaxon Jaxon-Waxon could put them in a great spot over the course of the season. I like the addition of two wide receivers late as well. Although they only grabbed one lineman, in a draft class that had plenty, Adyan looks to play a big role for them in this season. The champs will look to recapture the magic that brought them to the ultimini last year with some key upgrades. Rating: Fortune cookie, time will tell weather this team will bring it home again or fall victim to complacency There you have its folks my ratings of the drafts based on famous cookies! Let me know if you would change anything, I’m still new to the league so I may be off on stuff, but I thought this would be more entertaining than trying to rate them.
