*Interview with Azarius Ranger (MobiausGrander) - TheCC - 08-09-2020

Glad to have you for another interview Tyron! I’m super excited and glad to be here after an exhilarating and interesting rookie season in the DSFL! Let’s get to the interview, shall we?

Question: What was your favorite moment from last season?
Answer: Oh man! Despite the somewhat disappointing end to the season, I had quite a bit of fun during my rookie season in the DSFL! In regard to the question though, I would say that my favorite moment from last season was the last game of the season against the Dallas Birddogs. In that game, we completely destroyed and humiliated them! I wish we were able to shut them out though although 45-3 is still a great score! I say that this game was my favorite moment because we ended the season on a high and great note and continued the mini win streak we built up until that game, helping to give us hope that we can build upon this season and make the playoffs next season and contend!
Response: Oh yeah that was a great game. The whole team, offense, defense, and even Third Leg on special teams, just came together to show what we could’ve been, had we put it all together earlier in the season. The whole team looked amazing that week. It’s kind of bittersweet, because it was great to see, but it also makes you wonder what could’ve happened had we made the postseason. Oh well, it doesn’t matter at this point. Plus, our roster is looking even better so far this season than it did last season. I’m excited to see what the Grey Ducks can do in this upcoming season.

Question: What are your expectations from yourself next season with the Ducks?
Answer: Looking back on my rookie season, I had an adequate season for a late comer to the league and a mid-round pick. However, I think that I underachieved a bit compared to my fellow DEs and defensive players. On that note, I expect to break out next season after going Mamba Mode and building up myself through training every week during this past offseason. For my efforts, I expect myself to be a Pro Bowler and even Defensive Player of the Year! All-in-all, I want to be a disruptive defensive monster and to ruin other teams’ offenses.
Response: Yeah you were a fantastic surprise last season. You may not have had the craziest stats, but you were a great teammate and a great earner. I think that you’ll be feasting this season. You’ve been working at your craft hard day in and day out, so you’ve put yourself in as good a position as you could have. You can see the progress that you’ve made in your ISFL draft position alone, vaulting yourself into the mid second round, which is extremely impressive for a pretty new guy. I think you’re going to have an awesome season, and I can’t wait to see it unfold.

Question: How did you feel when your name was called in the second round?
Answer: I felt a bit surprised to be honest, especially as I was the first Grey Duck to be taken off the board. However, I am honored to be taken relatively high! By the time I get to play with NOLA, I want to show them that their pick was wisely spent on me in the second round by helping them claim another Ultimus title by who knows, as soon I start, haha!
Response: As much as I wanted you to fall to the third round to join me and my guys in Chicago with the Butchers, I couldn’t have been happier to see you be taken so early. Since I’m in the war room with the Chicago Butchers, I knew where you were going come draft time, and I was just so excited to see your reaction to being taken that high. It was great seeing you so excited haha. You were kind of speechless, and it was kind of funny lol. The New Orleans Second Line got a great player and a great guy, and they’re going to see that their pick was a great one sooner rather than later.

Question: I know you haven't had a ton of interactions with them yet, but what do you think about the NOLA so far?
Answer: Based on my interactions with the Second Line, I feel like I have never left the locker room of the Grey Ducks! I say that because I see a few people I recognize from our locker room in Minnesota in the NOLA locker room and they are bex, our lovely and talented commissioner, and Jamar Lackson, the badass and charismatic general manager. I am happy to see these two in the NOLA locker room as I know they are chill and super friendly and will be able to help me navigate through the rigors and experience of my first season in the ISFL when I finally get called up after this upcoming season!
Response: That’s awesome that you feel at home in the New Orleans locker room already. That’s a jump that not all players make so gracefully, so it’s good to see that you didn’t have that problem that some people did. It’s also nice that you have a couple of friendly faces that will be there to help you with any problems that you have. I don’t know the people in the New Orleans locker room because they’re kind of private, but they better treat my boy right!

Question: Do you have any opinions on who the Grey Ducks should take in the DSFL draft? (this question was asked and answered before the DSFL draft was presented)
Answer: Oh man! There are so many great prospects this class, especially on the defensive side of the ball. On who to take for this upcoming draft, I think that our first pick in the whole draft should be spent on the charismatic and energetic DB, James Gath. I believe that he should be our first pick because for starters, he is a defensive player, which is always a plus, haha. However, more importantly, he has been active in our locker room as a friendly face and, not to mention, he’s an extremely funny guy. In addition, his analysis and attention to detail towards this league is unparalleled, all making him a valuable leader and can’t miss prospect for the Ducks to take to help realize our goal of winning an Ultimus!
Response: You called it man. James Gath was the Minnesota Grey Ducks 1st round pick, being taken at 2 overall. He’s already making his presence felt, talking more than the majority of people in the locker room, and being named as one of the team captains for the season, along with you my dude. He made it easy for us to make him our first pick. He has the personality, the locker room presence, the earning ability, and the bank account. There’s really nothing that he’s missing - he checks every box. I’m really happy that we were able to add him to the defense. You two are going to lead that group to fantastic things this season man. I’m so excited for the DSFL season to start.

Question: What's your favorite kind of music? Why?
Answer: Contrary to typical norms, I don’t have a favorite specific kind or genre of music. I usually listen to a mixture of different genre’s such as rap, pop rock, funk, and so on. However, I know this may hurt some people, but like a lot of people, I do not like to listen to country but that is just me. More specifically, though, I listen to video game OSTs (Original Source Tracks or Original Soundtracks). To me, they encompass the best of a multitude of different genres and can illicit great emotions to all who choose to listen to them. Check them out! You won’t be disappointed!
Response: I’m kind of the same way dude. My top 5 favorite artists or groups in no order are: Frank Ocean, Mac Miller, Sum 41, George Strait, and Dion & The Belmonts. If you google those, that’s a huge difference in genres haha. Hip hop, punk rock, country, R&B, and Dion is from the 60s haha. That’s cool that you listen to video game soundtracks. I actually listen to a lot of movie soundtracks when I’m at work. I’m a programmer so I just put my headphones in and need something that I don’t have to listen closely to. So movie soundtracks are perfect for that. I especially like the work of Hans Zimmer (Pirates of the Carribean, Gladiator, Inception, Interstellar). You should DM me a couple of your favorites so that I can listen to them while I’m at work.

Question: Who is your favorite Georgia Bulldog?
Answer: Ahhhhh! You sly guy! Well, even though he is a rival player, since I am a Florida alum, I would have to say that my favorite Georgia Bulldog would have to be Nick Chubb, most specifically during the 2017 college football of over 2 years ago. I say that because over his college career up until that point, he was one of the most complete players I have ever seen; in addition, he was a badass on the field, even especially after coming back from the devastating knee injury he sustained in 2015. In addition, he is a great guy off the field as well, which led to me liking the guy as a rival player you can’t help but respect. His 2017 season was epic though because his choice to return for his senior season was the beginning of a grand epic run for the Bulldogs for the playoffs. In my opinion, he was the most valuable player for that Georgia team that made the national championship as his leadership, skill, and presence was the turning point for the team and I can’t help but respect that very much.
Response: Haha for everyone else, Mobi and I give each other a lot of crap because in terms of college football, I’m a Georgia Bulldogs fan, while he’s a Florida Gators fan. So we don’t exactly like each other’s teams. I’m a big Nick Chubb fan too. Him and Sony Michel were a hell of a one two punch. Nick Chubb was so dominant in college, especially that 2017 season that you mentioned. But high mileage and previous knee injuries, which you also mentioned, scared a lot of NFL teams off of him. So far though, he’s been proving everyone wrong, becoming one of the best running backs in the NFL since he got the starting job with the Cleveland Browns. I hope he keeps it up and keeps proving all of those teams that passed on him that they made the wrong choice!

Mobi: Well I hope that these answers were satisfactory Tyron! I hope to see you in the league after this season and on the field on opposing teams!

CC: They were more than satisfactory, man! Thank you for your time, and thanks for answering questions. I’ll still be in Minnesota daily, so we can at least keep staying in close contact for one more season, until you get called up to terrorize the ISFL QBs, including my boy George O’Donnell on the Butchers… Haha thanks again dude. We’ll have to do this a third time eventually! Take care Mobi, and all of you two people reading, you take care too.

Please split this 25% for me, and 75% for MobiausGrander.
