An Interview with Timmy Dimbi

Timmy Dimbi is a relatively new name in the ISFL world and will be looking to make an impact on the field and off the field. Dimbi is an intriguing prospect that is represented by an agent that is known for mostly hockey players. Why switch to football? His agent had this to say:

“To us as an agency we wanted to diversify our reach and athletes. We are known for hockey players and not much else. We thought why not? The opportunity came to represent Timmy and we went for it. Timmy is the type of person we look for in an agency. He has passion, a desire to win, and ultimately is a great person. We look forward to representing him and look forward to his future in the ISFL or wherever he may land.”

With that in mind, Timmy Dimbi seems to have a bright future in football and is looking to make his mark. He recently did an interview after being picked up by the DSFL’s Tijuana Luchadores on waivers.

>Why the ISFL/DSFL?
I chose to go this route because I feel it gives me the best chance of both being a professional football player and also following my dream of being a teacher. I feel like this league gives me the flexibility and support to do both. I think the competition is just as good and I am excited for the opportunity to play in the DSFL before being drafted to the ISFL.

>How did you feel about being picked up by Tijuana Luchadores?
I was kind of surprised slightly. I heard from a few teams prior who were interested in possibly picking me up but I guess they were not high enough in the order which was fine. I am excited they are giving me an opportunity though. I do have some connections there through my agent though. It is going to be weird moving away from home but I am still excited.

>I know you just got there, but how is it going so far?
They have been extremely welcoming and helpful so far. I have been trying to navigate my new surroundings and they have been helping me along. They have told me a few things to improve on and how I can improve. They seem like a tight-knit group and I am excited to be a part of it. I cannot wait to get to know some of my teammates better. Ultimately I want to prove them right and perform for them.

>What are you most looking forward to?
Honestly, I am looking forward to playing as much as possible and getting better. I am new to the league so there will be a learning curve. I am excited to learn as much as possible in training this week and learning the playbook so I will be ready for when my name is called to play. I am excited to attend my first game and watch my teammate’s battle out there.

>When do you expect to make your debut?
I have been told likely next week. They were not comfortable just throwing me in there which makes complete sense. I would not be ready to play yet, so next week I should be good to go. Like I said, I am going to spend this week getting ready and studying the playbook. I want to be as prepared as I can when I play. I am pumped to play. Once I knew I was on a team I wanted to play.

>What kind of player should fans expect?
They can expect a guy who forces his way to the quarterback. I am big, strong, and fast. I like to say I am an agile big man who quite frankly, not to toot my own horn is a beast. I will get to the other team's quarterback and punish him. If I do not make it to the quarterback I am making the offensive lineman work hard all game. I have no quit.

>What types of things are you planning to work on in the DSFL?
Honestly, my tackling can sometimes leave a bit to be desired. I know I have the football IQ and physical traits but my tackling is inconsistent. I plan to work on my tackling in training and with the coaches. I think I will become a better tackler by the time I am drafted into the ISFL. I hope to become an all-around dominant interior defensive lineman that an ISFL team can build around.

>What are your goals for this season?
In general, my goal is to compete every night and get better. Statistically, I would say since I am new to the league maybe like 3 sacks and double-digit tackles. I do not want to set my statistical standards too high because I know this league is tough. I do not want to focus on my own stats though because at the end of the day football is a team sport. I want to win and help the team win. The end goal I think is a championship ideally.

What does the future for you look like?
My future is hopefully putting up a good season for the Luchadores and getting better. I hope I can make a name for myself and get drafted. If not I will just have to work harder next season. I honestly believe I will play well this season and get drafted. It feels like I have a bit of a hill to climb since I am joining a few weeks into the season. I am going to have to work harder to get noticed and catch up with some of the other prospects in my class. I believe my future is bright in this league and I just want to prove myself to everyone that I can be a top player. I am just going to play my game and see what happens.

The next question is will Timmy Dimbi be a star prospect or will he flame out? It is hard to tell right now, but Dimbi is an intriguing prospect who could make an ISFL team extremely happy one day. For now, the Tijuana Luchadores will have to see if their gamble of picking him up pays off.
