*Marquise Brown's Runningback Report: Weeks 5-7 - YoungTB - 08-23-2020 Hello everyone, welcome back to another edition of Marquise Brown’s Runningback Report, written ENTIRELY by me! Marquise Brown! I am definitely the one writing this! You know, despite the fact that I scored a 3 on the Wonderlic which puts me in the “borderline disabled” category, I am still a fantastic writer. Not many people would believe that about me. Anyways, let us get into this top 5. There was a good amount of movement in this one and some backs that got themselves on the list after some incredible performances during weeks 5-7. Let’s talk about it! HM. ![]() What Toriki is doing in the efficiency department is pretty remarkable. She has a whopping 5 YPC through 7 games. In weeks 1-4, she maintained a 5.9 YPC which is near impossible to keep up through the rest of the season, but 5 YPC is still great. She leads all pure runningbacks in YPC and shows no sign of stopping this production. Oh, and did I mention that she is second in the league in rushing yards? The only thing Toriki is lacking in her game is scoring production, she struggles with finding the endzone and getting points on the board. This is mainly due to NOLA being a pass heavy offense in terms of scoring. That is not to say that the dynamic duo of Gump and Toriki are not being used, they are the most efficient team in the league in running the ball with 4.9 YPC, leading the league. Overall, Toriki should look to remain on this list, and once she gets more looks in the endzone, she will rise in the rankings easily. 5. ![]() Orange County has been able to turn around in the past couple of weeks, starting with an abysmal 0-3 record, they have gone 3-1 in their last four. This can absolutely be attributed to Tatsu Nakamura’s increased presence in the offense. After an incredible week 7 showing against the Liberty, Nakamura has earned himself a spot on this list, putting up 101 yards on 21 attempts as well as 3 touchdowns and some work on the receiving end as well, an early candidate for performance of the year. While this could be an outlier for Nakamura, the GMs at OCO have definitely taken notice to say the least and should look to increase his production, putting pressure off of Armstrong in the run game. 4. ![]() Mendonca has forged himself a spot in Austin’s offense as a pass-catching back for Easton Cole as well as a solid weapon in the ground game to pair with Kichwa Jones. In fact, Mendonca looks to be one of Cole’s favorite targets so far this season, as he is tied for second with wide receiver Eddie Jeeta in receptions. There is a reason why Austin has the second most passing yards in the league, and Mendonca’s presence in the offense is a big part of it. Austin’s offense should continue to thrive, giving Mendonca more opportunities to score and take advantage of this high-powered offense. 3. ![]() This rookie continues to make waves for Honolulu as an all-around threat for rookie quarterback Luke Skywalker to make use of. He leads the team in receiving touchdowns and there does not seem to be much of a stop in sight for the young buck as he furthers his case for offensive rookie of the year. Since last week, he has gained two receiving touchdowns as well as nearly doubling his rushing yardage. Honolulu knows that they have got a beast in their backfield with Ayers and only seem to be increasing his production with his excellent efficiency numbers. 2. ![]() Lackson is currently the league leader in rushing touchdowns and shows no sign of slowing down. He dominates San Jose’s backfield with attempts, they clearly are feeding the beast with Lackson. Lackson’s production in finding the endzone is a key reason why San Jose’s offense is thriving. By himself, Lackson has as many rushing touchdowns as Monty Jack has passing touchdowns. It is safe to say that San Jose should continue to feed Lackson the ball as he puts up points. 1. ![]() Hanyadi is the definition of a true bellcow. As the nucleus of Yellowknife’s entire offense, he leads the league in rushing yardage, is second in the league in yards per carry among pure runningbacks (following slightly behind Toriki with 5) and tied for fourth in the league with rushing touchdowns (though Acura Skyline has recently become a touchdown hog with his own 4). Not only that, but Hanyadi’s work in the air make him the best runningback in the league bar none. RE: Marquise Brown's Runningback Report: Weeks 5-7 - BenDover - 08-23-2020 Feels great to be shouted out! Just one issue, Monty Jack is not a rookie, even though it says he is in the index.
