*Tonight's Games - nutbarspadge - 08-25-2020

Rough start to the season, no doubt. But it's a long season, with a big double header ahead of us this evening against Minnesota and the Myrtle Beach.

The scene is set for our second home game of the season, as we host the Grey Ducks. Two teams looking to make a name for themselves in what appears to be a match up heavily favouring the home team. The hyper intense crowd in Dallas with fanfare and excitement around every corner and that's before you even reach the stadium. The travel, the distance between the two teams is vast and it's expected that Minnesota will travel the same day due to airport restrictions currently in place. The change in climate is expected to be the biggest factor. Minnesota is not known for its warmth, where temperatures are low 60s on a daily basis, whereas in Dallas you are looking high 90s. The heat combined with close to 100% humidity will be sure to sweat the Ducks and affect their gameplan. There is also rumours of a defensive resurgence in the Dallas locker room, being led by some veterans on both sides of the ball. The offense encouraging the defense to play fast so that they can get the ball back in Zoe Watt's hands and pound the rock.

The Birddogs then travel to Myrtle Beach in what is set to be a barnburner of a game. Myrtle Beach are a team on the rise with some veteran leaders on both sides of the ball and a defensive front 7 that refuse to quit. Their offense too is looking for a resurgence, with rumours of an air raid offense to be utilised to try and exploit Dallas' young defensive backs. From Dallas, they are looking to reduce errors on special teams and shore up the defensive line and look to force the Myrtle Beach side to run the ball, with a focus on pressuring the quarterback. This should be easy to do with some recent standout performances from linebacker Guy Fields and defensive end Raylan Crowder. Look for them to be difference makers to disrupt Myrtle Beach's expected style.

With the first half of the season coming to a close in the very near future, the Dallas Birddogs are looking go into the second half of the season with 4-3 and with a chip on their shoulder. It's been noted that social media has been getting a bit tense between teams, with showboating and taunts being the flavour of the week. That's sure to spur on players in the locker room, and hopefully lead to a playoff run for a team full of young talent and veterans in the right positions.

There's no doubt that the league is still wide open, and look for Dallas to be one of the teams to take advantage of their opportunity.
