S25 Expansion - bex - 08-26-2020
Thank you all for your patience as I and the rest of HO have been at work to select our expansion teams for our next expansion. It's an honor to be a part of league growth in this way. There were so many amazing bids and Head Office has talked over the applications and given the matter a great deal of consideration. You all made our job so incredibly hard. So hard in fact that we had to bring in a tiebreaker for our final choice. Many thanks to ManicMav36 for stepping up to review select bids and provide additional feedback.
I want to thank each and every applicant from the bottom of my heart. Seeing so many promising candidates makes me feel very good about the future of our league. Anyone who was not selected to have a franchise this expansion is invited to reach out to a member of HO if they want feedback on their specific application. We're happy to talk things through with you.
That being said, I am proud to announce our selected GMs for our s25 Expansion.
Expansion Team One will be led by @Dewalt27 and @Highhaschdi
Expansion Team Two will be led by @woelkers and @Bwestfield
Congratulations! These GM duos will be announcing branding and location once they have been finalized with HO!
Expansion Draft Details
- The format will be an 11 round snake draft
- Selection order will be decided by lottery
- Each team has 8 initial protection slots
- Any active GM players must be protected by the team with their protection slots. Teams who anticipate GM changes or retirements must report these changes to HO by the trade deadline.
- After a player is taken in the expansion draft, their team is able to assign protection to another player.
- S24 players are exempt from the expansion draft
- Teams can use "Free Agent passes" in lieu of a protection slot. They can then re-sign the number of free agents that they have FA passes. If a protected player opts out, their protection pass becomes an FA pass.
- Free Agents cannot be drafted in the expansion draft
- A team can only lose 2 players in the expansion draft. Once the 2nd player is taken from your team, all your remaining players are safe from expansion
- Expansion GM players (Dewalt and Woelker) will count as a player taken in the expansion draft, but will not be taken through the draft order.
Protection lists are due September 4th by 11:59 pm EST. The date of the Expansion Draft will be in the off-season Schedule.
S25 Draft Details
The expansion teams will be slotted at the top of the S25 draft order. The team that did not go first in the expansion draft will be given the earlier expansion team pick in this draft.

It’s always tough seeing players go but Dewalt & High are great choices and I’m really rooting for them to succeed.. except against Baltimore of course

I don't normally like to write posts that put a bit of a damper on things... but let me get this straight. You picked someone who is already currently the GM of an ISFL team and someone who was very recently the GM of another ISFL team to GM new expansion teams instead of giving it to literally anyone else who puts time into the league who hasnt had that opportunity yet? Nothing personal to the selections (I'm sure they'll be awesome and I really do look forward to seeing the branding) but I kind of expected better from a league that talks about player/community growth.

I feel you there, and there certainly seem to be pros to picking either experienced or new GMs (I can't claim to know how HO makes these decisions). The fact is that this is typically how expansions seem to go. Between adamS and oles in S16 and dwyer/raven and raindelay/frost in S22, the expansion GMs tend to be long-time league vets with GM and/or HO experience. I think Sarasota is the only team of the four with no prior ISFL GM experience, and both of them had been DSFL GMs.
