*DSFL Season 24 - Midpoint Review - Cody - 08-28-2020 Well here we are already at the midpoint of Season 24 in the DSFL. It’s been an interesting first half to the season and here is a look at the standings after Week 7. ![]() It's a tight battle in both divisions but obviously for different reasons. Norfolk, Tijuana and Myrtle Beach haven't had too much trouble in their games and the majority of losses have been within a score. I didn't want to get too involved in stats but I grabbed a few items that interested me based off overall team performances. Points For 1 - ![]() 2 - ![]() 3 - ![]() 4 - ![]() 5 - ![]() 6 - ![]() 7 - ![]() 8 - ![]() It's not surprising to see Tijuana at the top with a 5-2 record, but it is surprising to see Myrtle Beach at 6 with only 134 and also a 5-2 record. It's true when they say Defense wins championships, especially when your average score per game is only 19.14. If Myrtle Beach could make a few adjustments on offense they might be unstoppable. The two teams at the bottom of the standings Minnesota and Dallas have had serious trouble with their offense and need to get their teams right to prove a threat in the second half of the season. They are both hovering around 15 points per game which is more than a touchdown less than the Top 4 teams. Points Against 1 - ![]() 2 - ![]() 3 - ![]() 4 - ![]() 5 - ![]() 6 - ![]() 7 - ![]() 8 - ![]() The only team to be in the Top 3 for both Points For and Against is Norfolk. The team has been consistently good this season. The biggest difference is with Tijuana 1st in Points for and 5th in Points Against. Tijuan's defense puts a lot of pressure on the QB but it looks like they need some help in the secondary. Kansas City also has a big difference being 4th in PF and 7th in PA as evidence by their 3-4 record games have been quite the roller coast for them. Dallas again brings up the bottom of the barrel in these rankings but are only 1 game out of the lead in the NFC. Point Differential Per Game Average 1 - ![]() 2 - ![]() 3 - ![]() 4 - ![]() 5 - ![]() 6 - ![]() 7 - ![]() 8 - ![]() This stat is a good indicator of a team's success, seeing that the Top 2 teams have a 5-2 record along with Myrtle Beach. Norfolk is winning games handling average almost an 8 point Point Differential this season. This also shows how much trouble Minnesota and Dallas have had with them being in the negatives, especially Dallas as the only team with a double digit differential. Kansas City is tied for the lead in the NFC with 3 wins despite being 1 of 3 teams with a negative PD. Most Points/Least Points In a Game Thought it would be interesting to look at teams best offensive and defensive displays in terms of points: ![]() Most Points: 30, in Week 5 win against Minnesota Least Points: 0, in Week 4 loss against London ![]() Most Points: 41, in Week 3 win against Tijuana Least Points: 3, in Week 5 loss against Norfolk ![]() Most Points: 33, in Week 6 win against Norfolk Least Points: 0, in Week 3 loss against Myrtle Beach ![]() Most Points: 30, in Week 4 against Tijuana Least Points: 0, in Week 2 loss against Norfolk ![]() Most Points: 27, in Week 1 win against Kansas City Least Points: 6, in Week 2 loss against Tijuana ![]() Most Points: 44, in Week 4 win against Myrtle Beach Least Points: 10, in Week 5 win against Kansas City ![]() Most Points: 38, in Week 4 win against Kansas City and Week 7 win against Dallas Least Points: 12, in Week 2 loss against Myrtle Beach ![]() Most Points: 35, in Week 3 loss against Kansas City Least Points: 22, in Week 1 win against Dallas and Week 2 win against Myrtle Beach Most interesting stats, Norfolk's lowest points was in a win and Tijuana's lowest points were also both in wins. Tijuana also shockingly hasn't scored less than 22 points. Biggest Blowouts 1- Portland over Dallas: 35 points, 38-3 Week 7 2- London over Dallas: 31 points, 31-0 Week 4 3 - Norfolk over Myrtle Beach: 23 points, 44-21 Week 4 (Honorable Mention) Minnesota has lost by 20 three times: Norfolk 20-0 Week 2, Dallas 30-10 Week 5 and Myrtle Beach 26-6 Week 7 |
