*Packing some history and opinions into the Dotts packs - Lowlycrib - 09-02-2020 It has finally happened The long awaited debut of the Dotts trading cards has arrived today / yesterday and it surely did not disappoint with many users from the league flaunting their 1st packs and the rare cards they got. Unfortunately for me, I did not receive anything too rare. To fuel my desire to blow fictional money on these fictional Dotts packs I have devised the most brilliant plan around and to impart some statistical knowledge, back stories, or whatever really to all you folks on some of the players that I pull packs from. So more packs equals more content, which is a win for all of us involved but honestly I doubt I stay motivated enough to keep this a consistent series. 1st Pack for me: -Stanislaw Koniecpolski LB S22 ARI ![]() -Benson Bayley JR. OL S22 CHI ![]() -Red Arrow WR S21 COL ![]() -Ed Barker WR S21 NOLA ![]() -Chinwemma Yobanna-Kanayochukwu TE S10 NOLA ![]() -Franklin Townsend DT S11 NOLA ![]() I'll be going through three players that I found interesting within this pack and that includes Stanislaw Koniecpolski, Chinwemma Yobanna-Kanayochukwu, and Franklin Townsend. Stanislaw Koniecpolski: The first player that we are taking a look into is a relatively more recent user in that of Stanislaw Koniecpolski (definitely a top ten name) who is a linebacker for the Arizona Outlaws (ew) who first entered the league in Season 22. As of writing this they currently have 691 TPE, which puts them a little ways from the top of the class but is still impressive. Although their time in the ISFL/NSFL has been relatively short, they have made a significant impact on the field for an Arizona teams with Ultimus aspirations. They've had seasons of 120 and 134 tackles while also having solid numbers in pass defenses. Stanislaw was taken with the 6th overall pick in the draft and has certainly not disappointed his team thus far and I could see some Pro Bowl nods in the near future for this player once the best linebacker in the league Tyron Brackenridge steps away from the game. Chinwemma Yobanna-Kanayochukwu: The next player to take a look into is Chinwemma Yobanna-Kanayochukwu (long enough name?) who was a tight end for the Second Line. CY-K was taken with the 18th pick overall in the S10 draft with other legends such as Joilet Christ, Kazimir Oles, and D'Pez Poopsie. (no bias from me here) CY-K only lasted in the league for two seasons posting stats of 41 catches for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns. While CY-K may not have been much of an impact player on the field, they were able to win an Ultimus ring that many players never ever get a chance at. Franklin Townsend: The third and final player I'll be taking a look at is Franklin Townsend, who also played for New Orleans as a defensive tackle. Franklin was a much later draft selection at 35th overall out of 40 players. This late selection did not faze Franklin Townsend as he was a Pro Bowler in season eleven as a rookie. In that Pro Bowl season he had 11 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 2 forced fumbles. Franklin played up until season 17 and amassed 201 tackles, 17 sacks, and 16 tackles for loss, which are all respectable numbers for a defensive tackle. The most surprising thing about this player is that their user only made a total of 24 posts and 4 threads before going inactive, which just illustrates the randomness of the sim and the ability for players to make plays whenever they are on the field. Opinions Time: Now is in the time for my biased and probably wrong opinions on the cards and a few different aspects. While all of these cards are relatively a standard tier, I believe, I think that a few of them stand out more than the rest in the pack, and that includes: Ed Barker's card, which the gold tier trim fits in perfectly with the colour scheme of the Second Line of their secondary and tertiary colours. Action shots in my opinion often lead to better looking cards and this is no exception. Stanislaw Koniecpolski's card also stands out from the rest in that the colour scheme is once again pleasing and blends well together but the Doots logo slight difficulty to read and team logo placement makes the card appear a little crowded but overall still nice. Now for some of the cards that I think are just less desirable in my opinion. The first of which is Benson Bayley's that is pretty much just a grey blob with little to no pop or design but I blame the Butcher's meh colour scheme. My second issue with this card is that the Dotts logo just blends in too well and ultimately isn't that easy to read and a switch the white might've helped with an issue such as this. Overall an average but boring card. The other cards in this pack are pretty average and I don't see much issue with them at all Overall, I'd say the packs are worth it if you have the extra coin but until further implementations are brought in such as trading or what not I wouldn't go spending all of your contract earnings on them. Total Pulls: Legend tier (Blue) 1250+ TPE: All-Pro tier (Red) 850-1249 TPE: Star tier (Gold) 550-849 TPE: 1 Starter tier (Silver) 400-549 TPE: 3 Backup tier (Bronze) <400 TPE: 2 RE: Packing some history and opinions into the Dotts packs - mithrandir - 09-03-2020 Very fun idea to review your packs. I hope we see more articles like this in the future! |
