Taking rule summit suggestions - Memento Mori - 09-11-2020

As part of my quest to infect the league with more democracy, @roastfuego and myself have decided that we will take suggestions from the wider ISFL community on rules that we should propose at the upcoming rules summit.

If you think there’s a rule that should be added/changed/removed, make your case here.

Ideas like banning 79 speed QBs, expanding the playoffs, etc. have been discussed before and will be again, would love to hear some more original ones.

Add a weight difference between bots and human OL on the interior. There are enough OL to make the NSFL that there won't be room for all of them unless there are some player in the interior. Unfortunately that means that teams will lose win % because playing higher TPE OL on the interior less effective and playing lower TPE OL on the interior is EXTREMELY less effective. So that means some players will make the ISFL and then simply be being on the field make their team worse.

Love this. Making more than 2 human OL viable would be great. IIRC there was recently a proposal that would've allowed human interior OL to weigh up to 370lbs but seems easier to me to just reduce the permitted weight of bot interior OL.

It doesn't even need to be a huge difference, just a difference. Nobody wants to be ready for the ISFL and be told "hey we have to trade you or not play you, you make our team worse"

RE: Taking rule summit suggestions - Swanty - 09-14-2020

Proposal:
  • Once you have maxed every attribute in your player's archetype, the caps would be 'unlocked', allowing the user to apply TPE past the archetype max for any attribute they like.

Why:
  • Right now, top earners can effectively reach 95% of their player's usefulness midway through their career, with very little improvement available past that point
  • This would offer something extra for the top players to aim for and mean there is always a reason to keep earning TPE
  • Those who can achieve it would earn themselves a tangible advantage over other players at their position in their final years

Effect on balance:
  • Of all current players, only 8 would currently fall into this category. 7 are S18 and 1 is S17. 3 of them would have 100+ TPE to apply above the caps, but all of them would lose this advantage when regression kicks in
  • As this advantage would only last for a season or so, there shouldn't be a concern about 'breaking the game'. But caution would need to be taken that the maximum TPE achievable per season doesn't increase too much in the future
  • If breaking the game was still a concern, perhaps the cost of point increases when applied past the cap could be doubled or tripled. Eg increasing speed from 95-96 would cost 15 normally, but 30 if it was above your archetype's cap.
