*Season 25 ISFL Draft Recap & Thoughts - Cody - 09-30-2020

This is a recap of the Season 25 ISFL Draft and my thoughts on a team's overall draft.

(Player, Position listed in draft, Round, Round Selection, Overall Selection)

Arizona Outlaws - ARI

1. Tayshawn Crunk, S 1,8,8
2. Chuck Roth, OL 2,2,16
3. Doy Fieri, DT 2,8,22
4. L’Gazzy Burfict, LB 3,8,36
5. Darren Pama, RB 4,2,44
6. James Hoffman, CB 4,8,50
7. Mason Gillion, CB 5,6,62
8. Terry Yaki, RB 5,8,64
9. Ben Anabender, CB 7,8,92
10. Dean McBean, LB 8,6,104
11. Dakota Grossman, WR 8,8,106

The Outlaws made out like bandits in this draft. They got a lot of great users and high TPE earners in this class. It looks like the only player being called up is Tayshawn Crunk who should have an immediate impact at the Safety position. This team is setup really well with it's draftees and should be an annual Ultimus contender in a couple of seasons. As of today the draftees had a collective TPE total of 2477 (highest in the class) averaging out to 225.18 per player.

Gem of the Draft - Darren Pama, RB

Austin Copperheads - AUS

1. Jackie Daytona, QB 2,11,25
2. Ben Alexander-Arnold, CB 4,6,48
3. Connor Quigley, OL 5,4,60
4. Owen Isaac, DE 6,6,76
5. Leo Bloomfield, KP 6,11,81
6. Smitty McGhee, OL 7,6,90

Austin only had 6 picks in this draft and were able to secure some good players and users. It doesn't look like Austin is calling anyone up this season so don't look for any sort of impact from these players for a couple of seasons. The overall TPE was 1100 averaging out to 183.33.

Gem of the Draft - Connor Quigley, OL

Baltimore Hawks - BAL

1. Felix Archstone, OL 1,6,6
2. Tony Yeboah, S 2,4,18
3. Gary Goodman, LB 4,4,46
4. Noah Akerele, WR 7,4,88
5. King Tutankhamun, RB 8,11,109 (Traded from Orange County for Tyrone Biggums)

(Disclaimer I was selected in this group and a lot of former teammates) The Hawks selected a lot of Kansas City Coyotes and for good reasons. They got some excellent users and players. The Hawks had the lowest amount of picks but used them well. They made a trade with Orange County, trading Safety Tyrone Biggums for Running Back King Tut. The only call up for Season 25 is Linebacker Gary Goodman who won DPOY for the Coyotes and there is hope he continues to play well in the ISFL. The total TPE is 1035 (lowest in the class) with the average being 207.

Gem of the Draft - Tony Yeboah, S

Berlin Fire Salamanders -  BER

1. Swantavius Jones, CB 1,1,1
2. Ananda Adyan, OL 3,9,37
3. Jeeeeroy Lenkins, CB 5,1,57
4. Cmon Skiuuup, TE 5,13,69
5. Gavin Leclerc, CB 6,2,72
6. Lebby Newton, WR 6,8,78
7. Caleb Judge, LB 7,1,85
8. Bobby Hoffman, DE 8,2,100
9. Hank Antilles, OL 9,1,113

The first draft for the expansion Fire Salamanders the team went against the majority of Mock Drafts and selected Cornerback Swantavius Jones. I don't think you'll see many arguments that this is still a Home Run selection. Jones and rookie Tight End Cmon Skiuuup are being called up immediately and should be cornerstones of the franchise for years to come. We'll see if Berlin can get out to a hot start in their first year in the league. The total TPE for Berlin's draftees was 1586 resulting in an average of 176.22 per player (lowest in the class).

Gem of the Draft - Jeeeeroy Lenkins, CB

Chicago Butchers - CHI

1. James Gath, CB 1,9,9
2. Damian Blackfyre, S, 3,4,32
3. Wasrabi Gleel, LB 3,7,35
4. Timmy Dimbi, DT 4,12,54
5. Mark Callous, WR 5,7,65
6. Etrigan T. Slayer, DE 5,14,70
7. Duncan Donuts, OL 6,5,75
8. Clay Clark, CB 6,9,79
9. Crayne Whebet,  WR 7,9,93
10. D’Brickashaw Minshew Sr., S 8,9,107

The Butchers off a surprising playoff berth in Season 24 went all in on Defense this draft with 7 of their 10 draft choices being on that side of the ball. The first 3 picks being some highly rated prospects in James Gath, Damian Blackfyre and Wasrabi Gleel. This team has been slowly building for the last few seasons and with these selections the team looks primed to be a force in S26 and onward. The picks in this draft have a collective TPE of 1915 which averaged out to 191.5 per player.

Gem of the Draft - Etrigan T. Slayer, DE

Colorado Yeti - COL

1. Albert Ruschmann, DE 1,5,5
2. Dave Batista, TE 2,13,27
3. NationalSimulation FootballLeague, S 3,1,29
4. Angelo Cerilli, DT 4,13,55
5. Anders Christiansen, RB 6,4,74
6. Jake Sackson, DE 6,13,83
7. Lukas Hinsetzen, CB 7,13,97
8. Jack Burton, KP 8,13,111

The Ultimus Runner-Ups were able to fortify their prospect group with some great draft picks. This team knows how to draft. They got one of the top rated prospects in Albert Ruschmann and followed that up with the highly rated Dave Batista and NationalSimulation FootballLeague. Ruschmann and Batista are both being called up and should improve both sides of the ball. This team looks set to make another run at the Ultimus in Season 25. The total TPE for the Yeti's class was 1553 which averaged out to 194.13 per player.

Gem of the Draft - NationalSimulation FootballLeague, S

Honolulu Hahalua -  HON

1. Guy Fields, LB 1,7,7
2. Davriel Lavigne, S 2,7,21
3. Rusty Rucker, LB 2,9,23
4. Lionel Rumper, S 3,10,38
5. Alex Reed, WR 4,7,49
6. Matt Peterson, QB 6,7,77
7. Curtis Blackshear, CB 7,7,91
8. Hugh McGree, OL 8,7,105

Honolulu just missed out on the playoffs in Season 24 and didn't make a ton of moves in the offseason but they had a fantastic draft. They were able to get Guy Fields at 7th overall, Fields was seen as the #1 Prospect by most users. They also added two great Safeties in Lavigne and Rumper. They're calling up 3 Rookies to start in Season 25 on the Defense being Fields, Lavinge and Rucker. This team looks set to be in the playoffs in S25. The total TPE for their draft class was 1787 with the average being 223.38.

Gem of the Draft - Guy Fields, LB

New Orleans Second Line -  NOLA

1. Medicinal Toblerone, OL 1,10,10
2. Adam Mellott, OL 2,5,19
3. Mike Rotchburns, RB 4,10,52
4. Adam C. Spencer, WR 5,7,63
5. Henry Grant, DE 7,10,94
6. Stephon Trummer, TE 8,10,108

New Orleans finished up S24 with a first round playoff exit and didn't have many selections in the S25 draft. They selected the highest rated OL prospect in Medicinal Tobleron in the first round. The team is calling up Toblerone and Wideout Adam C. Spencer in S25. The Second Line should be back in the playoffs this season. The total TPE in the draft was 1306 with an average player total of 217.66.

Gem of the Draft - Adam C. Spencer, WR

New York Silverbacks -  NYS

1. Hank Winchester, LB 1,13,13
2. Dukburg Quakstak, CB 2,10,24
3. Bob Roberts, S 3,13,41
4. Harley Fank, WR, 4,11,53
5. Brick Van Sanzo, DE 4,14,56
6. Marc Hamel, OL 5,2,58
7. Buster Bawlls, RB 6,1,71
8. Marlon Alexander, OL 6,10,80
9. Joe Show, TE 7,2,86
10. Sory An’Tyler, WR 8,1,99
11. Hank Sakner, DE 9,2,114

The other expansion team in the draft New York went about 50/50 on Offense (6) Defense (5) for their 11 picks. The team was able to secure a lot of highly touted prospects and I think they won the draft between the other expansion team in Berlin. Look for 5 rookies from this class to start in the ISFL. Winchester, Quakstak, Roberts, Fank and Bawlls. It probably won't be a pretty season in New York this year but it'll help the younger guys get experience and prepped to lead the team in S26. New York had a lot of TPE earned for their picks with 2309 which averaged out to 209.91 per player.

Gem of the Draft - Harley Fank, WR

Orange County Otters -  OCO

1. Goat Tank, DT 1,11,11
2. Richard Leaking, LB 2,6,20
3. Owen Holloway, QB 3,11,39
4. Bronko Mills, RB 3,12,40
5. Bulldog Willard, WR 7,11,95
6. Tyrone Biggums, CB 8,4,102 (Traded from Bal for King Tut)

In what a lot of people were saying was the steal of the draft the Otters patiently waited at 10 for GOAT TANK to fall in their lap. He should make an immediate impact at the ISFL level. Orange County is also calling up QB/WR Owen Holloway, I'm not sure how they'll use him but that was another great selection in the 3rd round. The Otters selected a lot of high TPE earners with their 6 picks as they had a player average of 210.5 with a total TPE of 1263.

Gem of the Draft - Goat Tank, DT

Philadelphia Liberty PHI

1. Tex Wrecks, DE 1,3,3
2. Killian Chambers, WR 2,3,17
3. Jimi DeSoto, LB 3,3,31
4. Honky-Tonk Haywood, DT 3,6,34
5. Sam Roes, DE 4,3,45
6. Jake Fencik, KP 5,3,59
7. Brent Silva, DT 6,3,73
8. Brian Nelson, S 7,3,87
9. Flap N’Chick, TE 8,3,101
10. Trent Blackburn, QB 9,3,115

Philadelphia had a ROUGH S24, if it wasn't for expansion Philly would have had the #1 pick. A team I thought that would move back in the draft to fill in some gaps the team stayed put for the most part and really nailed their picks. Philly is calling up 5 of their picks for Season 25: Wrecks, Chambers, DeSoto, Haywood and Fencik. Don't expect the team to make any waves in S25 but with another solid draft in S26 this team might be able to make a playoff appearance. Philly had an excellent TPE total of 2135 and averaged out to 213.5 per player.

Gem of the Draft - Sam Roes, DE

San Jose SaberCats SJS

1. Raylan Crowder, DE 1,4,4
2. Rich Triplet, CB 1,14,14
3. Xmus Flaxon Jaxon-Waxon, S 2,14,28
4. Zach Crossley, WR 3,14,42
5. Matty Martinsson LB 6,14,84
6. TJ Evans, WR 7,14,98
7. Bill Brasky, KP 8,14,112

The Ultimus Champs had an excellent draft starting off with two great 1st Rounders in Crowder and Triplet. Crowder is getting called up right away to try and help San Jose defend their crown.  San Jose stayed put with their other picks and selected some good talent. The draftees had a collective TPE total of 1448 which is an average of 206.85 per player which is a solid total.

Gem of the Draft - Zach Crossley, WR

Sarasota Sailfish -  SAR

1. Peter "Petey" Patterson, CB 1,12,12
2. Clay Stallworth, OL 2,12,26
3. Cleg Manclaw, TE 4,9,51
4. Dexter Jackson, LB 5,10,66
5. Teddy Utterstruzen, S 5,11,67
6. Steven Wadham, S, 5,12,68
7. Ellijah Torres, CB 6,12,82
8. Willy Weasel, WR 7,12,96
9. Naman Fletcher, CB 8,12,110

Just falling short of an Ultimus apperance in S24 Sarasota had a great draft. They selected a prospect a lot of people saw as a Top 5 pick in Peter "Petey" Patterson and in Round 2 they nabbed Clay Stallworth who set a new pancake record in the DSFL with Kansas City. The Sailfish are calling up 3 rookies in Stallworth, Manclaw and Jackson. I don't expect Saraosta to slow down in S25 and I expect them to be in the Ultimus. Sarasota only had a total TPE of 1611 which averaged out to 179 per player.

Gem of the Draft - Peter "Petey" Patterson, CB

Yellowknife Wraiths YKW

1. Dan Foster, CB 1,2,2
2. Djibutee McJimmerson, TE 2,1,15
3. Jameson Vermillion, RB 3, 2, 30
4. Donald McBobby, LB 3,5,33
5. Mark Walker, WR 4,1,43
6. Sheed Thebaw, DT 4,5,47
7. Milk Mann, S 5,5,61
8. Alexander Johnson, WR 7,5,89
9. Sterling Moss, OL 8,5,103

Yellowknife had a disappointing season missing out on the playoffs after winning the Ultimus in Season 24. The Wraiths were able to move up to the 2nd spot with a trade with New York. The Wraiths are only calling up 2 prospects this year with two middle round picks in Walker and Thebaw. The team had a very solid draft with a total player TPE of 2119 which averaged out to 235.44 (highest in class) per player.

Gem of the Draft - Jameson Vermillon, RB

My Top Three Teams

1. Arizona Outlaws
2. Yellowknife Wraiths
3. Philadelphia Liberty
