DSFL S25 Rule Summit Results - TomHanks - 10-05-2020 The S25 DSFL Rules Summit results are in and tabulated! DSFL GMs and DSFL HO. With 14 eligible voters (one representative from each DSFL team, three Head Office members, one DSFL simmer, the ISFL commissioner, and the league owner), a proposal needed 10 "yes" votes in order to pass. Below is the full list of proposed rule changes and the final voting results for each. 1. DSFL PLAYER CREATION ABUSE- Player creation is defined as the process by which new or recreating users discuss, plan, and create a new player to enter the DSFL through waivers or the draft.- This rule applies specifically to the DSFL a) No representative of a team may provide specific information to a user that would help the prospect create an ideal build, help the user time their player creation, or otherwise attempt to nefariously influence the process of creating a player and joining a DSLF team for their own benefit or to the detriment of another team. b) No user may share information regarding waiver wire priority with any prospect. 2-12 2. Finish the overhaul of the DSFL depth chart rules: a. Change VII. C. 1. d) (4), which currently states “Players claimed off waivers are exempt from starting in a minimum number of formations” to “Players claimed off waivers before the trade deadline are exempt from starting in a minimum number of formations until they are updated for the first time, after which they are to be treated as any other active player in regards to minimum formation requirements.” b. Add a VII. C. 1. d) (5): “Players claimed off waivers after the trade deadline are exempt from starting in a minimum number of formations.” c. Remove rules VII. C. 2. and VII. C. 3. which were made obsolete by the changes made to VII. C. 1 in S23. 10-4 3. V.D.9 At the DSFL level, GMs may not vote for players or users from their team for any award. This is limited to players and users who finished the season with the GM's team (players who were traded from that team or otherwise finished the season with another team may still receive a vote). Any votes submitted in violation of this rule will be considered obsolete and discarded. 4-10 4. Add to tampering: No player who is eligible to be claimed by another team, either through waivers or during the offseason before a draft, may be a member of a war room of any DSFL team with the exception of current GMs. Any team or player found in violation of this rule will be considered to have tampered the player allowed to remain in the war room. 12-2 Proposals 2 and 4 were successfully passed and will go into effect next season. DSFL PLAYER CREATION ABUSE- Player creation is defined as the process by which new or recreating users discuss, plan, and create a new player to enter the DSFL through waivers or the draft.- This rule applies specifically to the DSFL "Hey I'm new can someone help me with building my player?" "No sorry we'd get fined for it cause that's tampering" "Oh. That's stupid. Bye" Glad this rule overwhelmingly failed. Don't see how it'd be good for the league at all, especially in terms of retaining new players, but I'd love to hear differing opinions, assuming they're out there! Like if there is a new user who wants advice on DB builds, but a team comes to that new player and tells them instead switch to LB and use a particular build for them. I do agree though I think the wording is weird and it was a bad rule with how it is currently worded. I can see why though it was brought up though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes up again next season, just worded better and more specific. That is just my two cents though. Others may agree or disagree with me but that is totally fine! I think I was immediately turned off by the wording, specifically the "create an ideal build" part. I assumed it meant ideal in general/an ideal for the prospect, but I now see it refers to an ideal build for the representative's team. As the wording stands, it seems like there'd be a lot of headaches figuring when/when not to enforce this rule, but as you said, it could certainly be reworded and re-proposed. The way this is written makes it unclear whether ISFL GMs can stay in a DSFL war room while recreating. I assume that is not the intention. Since DSFL GMs aren't eligible to be claimed by other teams, I would suggest removing the entire "with the exception of current GMs" clause to improve clarity. The problem is people may then try to argue that even DSFL GMs can't be in the war room. You have to cover bases with rules. If you add "DSFL" before GMs it takes away any uncertainty though. Also a fine way to do it, yeah. As for the first rule about about team representatives not being able to help new people, the biggest thing to me is that its super unclear about how this would work for RM. If a person asks "hey how important is speed" to a RM or to anyone involved in a DSFL War room for that matter, if you answer honestly or something like "Yes speed is super important and should be maxed" the wording of this rule makes that seem to be classified as tampering as you helping them with the ideal build. The concept behind the rule is great but there is no way that something like it can or should pass as it just blocks people from getting help. Even when it comes to joining the league, i would bet alot of people who get friends involved or from other leagues, have told them to join after the deadline for the best chances to earn high TPE, this technically also would become illegal and a punishable offence RE: DSFL S25 Rule Summit Results - Frostbite - 10-05-2020 Yes these are rules RE: DSFL S25 Rule Summit Results - gucci - 10-05-2020 Yeah the first rule is a no brainer imo if the “ideal build” language is removed. Still think rule votes should be public so the league could all see who is still against grooming players for your DSFL team. |
