Including a Players Association - Destroyer - 07-27-2017 Hello, I believe that there should be a Players Association on this site and for this league. Player's Associations(PA) that unionize athletes are always beneficial to the sport and the league itself. Some of the benefits that can happen are: - More control over league-wide issues - Gives players a platform to express their biggest wants/needs - Allows players to be treated fairly in regard to compensation - Allows everybody to flourish in a players first association and MOST IMPORTANTLY - Adds A LOT more activity to this site My way of running this Players Association would add 2-3 jobs to the league, and form an association that every player has a chance to enter. The 2-3 jobs would be: NSFLPA CEO - Destroyer NSFLPA President NSFLPA Vice President BEING A MEMBER (Non-executive) OF THE PA IS NOT A JOB, THINK OF IT AS A BENEFIT TO YOURSELF. YOU DONT NEED TO BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT TO BE A MEMBER OF THE PA, BEING A MEMBER OF THE PA JUST GIVES YOU RIGHTS AND ABILITY TO HAVE A PLATFORM IF YOU WANT IT. Now CEO and President can be combined, if need be. I offer myself as CEO/President, due to more than decent popularity on the site and not having a GM job or any other job for that matter. I also brought this idea up ![]() Requirements to be an executive: - Be active - Be responsible in your duties to the PA - Be semi-popular in the community - CANNOT be a GM or hold an active job on this site, unless approved otherwise, by me. Duties that come with the job: - In our players association we will need to keep track of every athlete that decides to become a part of our association. - We will have Bi-weekly public/open meetings where we will bring to the table all the complaints/issues/recommendations that players have had. (This includes all ideas brought up in the suggestion box) Executives will then talk about what they believe are the pros/cons of each idea are, and afterwards, we will open the floor to PA members and allow them to also discuss how they feel about each idea. - The executives will keep track of all these ideas, and will assign them 1 of 4 "Stages" based on how the members feel about it: WHITE - This idea has not been brought up in discussion yet. RED - This idea has been denied and will not be brought up in future discussions. YELLOW - This idea has been pushed to the next discussion for further research and discussion between members. GREEN - This idea has been accepted by the members as a whole and we will be working towards seeing what we can do to get it implemented. - The executives will provide documentation, communication, and keep track of all records on behalf of the players association. - All INCIDENTS or FAILURES of the league's GM's, Owners, Commisioner, or the league itself may also be brought to light to the Players Association and we will also address it at our bi-weekly meetings, this is not to make anybody feel bad, just to get everybody on the same page and allow for everybody to be happy in our community and within the league. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE/MODIFY ALL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES OF EXECUTIVES. I hope you all jump aboard this AWESOME opportunity for the site to expand and become a lot better and more active. It will also allow for A LOT of our players to become closer and really bond on a level outside of teams. I respectfully ask for @Ballerstorm's and @youngcricket's blessing and co-operation on this effort to make the site a better place for everybody. Please feel free to give feedback and MESSAGE ME if you would like to be an executive on the Players Association. If you would like to be a MEMBER, please just express that you like the idea, and also say that you would be open to being a member of the Players Association. Thank You All. Including a Players Association - kckolbe - 07-27-2017 I think a PA would actually add some interesting aspects. I think once free agency rolls around we should start seeing pushes to raise minimum salaries to prevent good teams from getting too many team-friendly deals. I would be open to joining. Including a Players Association - 4D Chess - 07-27-2017 Lol wait a second why do you get to be the CEO of the Player association? Unions are all about the members having control, so if this did happen you should have to run in an election against everyone else. I agree with your statement saying that members should have full control, and they reserve the right to kick me out, get rid of me, lower my status, etc. Although, for starting the Association and having the infrastructure set, the CEO is a set person regardless. The PRESIDENT is who is really "voted" to be the leader of the players association and the liaison between players and the league. So, yes, I will take role of CEO, long story short ![]() Including a Players Association - Bzerkap - 07-27-2017 @Jogn here's your chance to realize the dream you've been promoting for a while Including a Players Association - 4D Chess - 07-27-2017 (07-27-2017, 08:37 AM)Destroyer Wrote:I agree with your statement saying that members should have full control, and they reserve the right to kick me out, get rid of me, lower my status, etc. Although, for starting the Association and having the infrastructure set, the CEO is a set person regardless. So, yes, I will take role of CEO, long story short No offense man because we're teammates and I have loved the idea of a union for awhike, but I think that if your idea is about increasing member representation appointing yourself to the highest position without consulting any other members is not the best way to start. I mean hell, I'd vote for you for president or CEO or whatever, but this isn't the way to do it in my opinion. I mean hell, I'd vote for you for president or CEO or whatever, but this isn't the way to do it in my opinion. No offense taken man, I just think you're not understanding what I said. CEO isn't an "Appointed" position. Like I said, Chairman or President is an appointed/voted for position. CEO isn't the "highest" position. I just represent the players association itself as a whole. For further example, think of congress. I would be the "Speaker of the house", who holds no more power than any other member, other than the fact that they play the role as the speaker, preserving order, administering oaths, and making sure the proceedings go according to plan. The 'President' would kinda be like the President of the united states, making decisions, acting as the liasion between the country and congress, and becoming the FACE of the country. This is why the 'President' role will be a voted on position by the members because THEY are the ones that act as the liaison between the players association and the league itself. Now, to your point, like i said, once the association is set up and running how it is supposed to, I have to answer to our "Board of directors" which is the members, the players themself. If they want me out of there, its just a simple vote away that will be brought up in one of our meetings. I understand your concern and I respect it, i'm just letting you know that it's not valid and not warranted. Hope I helped you understand haha. If not, just let me know. No worries. Including a Players Association - SimmerDownBruhh - 07-27-2017 I'd love to take a role in something like this. In other PAs (like the NFL) they elect both the CEO and the President... pretty much all leadership positions actually. I think this is a great idea though! Just automatically naming yourself as CEO I think sets a bad precedent. I'd love to be a part of this (assuming my job as a grader doesn't disqualify me lol) Including a Players Association - Admin - 07-27-2017 As the players you guys can go nuts, sure. Josh Garden thinks there should be voted for every position though  |
