(S25) - PT 3 - Early Decisions

Complete the weekly Point Task to earn 3 TPE! All written responses must be at least 200 words. All graphic responses must show at least some effort.

Do not claim this TPE until it has been graded and posted to the S25 claim thread.

Written and graphic responses must be posted solely in this thread and not for additional media credit.
Also, if you try to build your word count by being super repetitive and rambling on, you will not get full credit.

We’ve had a number of incidences involving PT plagiarism. If you are caught stealing someone else’s work, you will be punished as HO sees fit, including the potential loss of TPE or money. Do your own work please.

This task is due next Sunday, October 25th, at 11:59 EDT. Have fun and get writing!

Written Option: Everyone starts somewhere, and for most players, the path to the pros picks up in earnest in college. Why did your player decide to go to the college they did (or not go at all)? Were they highly recruited, or did they walk on to the program? How long did it take your player to break into the starting roster of the college? If they played a different position in high school, what was the transition between positions like? Detail your player’s experiences, and be creative.

Graphic Option: Show your player in college, whether it’s on the field with your college’s team or in some other fashion. Remember to put effort into this.

Videl took a bit of an interesting path to get where she is in the International Simulation Football league right now, it’s a bit of a long story, but it’s a good one to listen to. She actually started off as a quarterback in high school, although she was not playing in America at the time, she was still in japan, trying to be the pioneer of the sport over there, but it seemed to be a reach at the time. She didn’t receive a lot of offers from universities to play American football, including none in her native country of japan, so that meant she had to go overseas to continue her dream of playing in the international Simulation Football league. She eventually accepted a scholarship to play at the university of Southern California, however, she eventually disguised it as a Japanese college, to avoid being deported back to japan for violating departure laws over there. It wasn’t long before a Videl made it on to the roster, as she was named the main wide receiver almost out of the gate, however, injuries slowed down her chances in college, but it would only keep her out 1-2 weeks, because she had an unusually fast recovery time.

Venus Powers had her eyes set on the Air Force Academy since her junior year at Reagan High School, where she began the application process and secured the congressional nomination necessary for the Academy. In her freshman year, or as a Fourth-Class Cadet, Powers was behind incumbent kicker Brett Longwise and punter Leon O’Sullivan and rode the bench for the first half of the season. In the sixth game of the year, however, Longwise was injured on a field goal attempt and ruled out for the season with a leg injury, thrusting Powers into the starting kicker role for the Falcons. Even when Longwise came back for his senior year the next season, Powers beat him out for the job and filled the role of kicker for the rest of her starting college tenure. Likewise, when Leon O’Sullivan dropped out of the Academy unexpectedly, Powers tried out punting duties for the first time in her career and secured that position as well. Although she tore her ACL midway through her Second-Class Cadet season, in eerily similar circumstances to that of Longwise, Powers held off challenger Kenna McMaster in her final year of the Academy and received a waiver for the postponement of her service requirements to be allowed to declare for the DSFL Draft.

William Lim wasn't even a football player when he walked into Seoul university. Actually, he hardly knew what American football was. William played baseball since the age of 5, mainly as a shortstop. He dreamed of going pro someday and to play in Korean Baseball league. However, that dream was cut short when William went undrafted in the KBO draft after his graduation from high school, mainly because of his bad batting skills and mediocre arm, which highly undermined his strong suit of defensive performance.

Following that, William decided that his days as an elite athlete was over, and walked on to Seoul University as a normal student. However, he was convinced to keep on playing in the university's baseball team by the coaches. But when his batting performance only regressed after one and a little more seasons, William was done with baseball for good. And as he was considering his career paths after baseball, the head coach of Seoul's football team approached William. He managed to convince William to join the team as a wide receiver, and utilize the speed and spectacular catching skills he showed as a baseball player.

The transition between sports were hard as expected. But William held on, and managed to familiarize himself with football. He played one and a half very successful seasons as Seoul's star receiver and kick/punt returner before he declared himself eligible for DSFL draft after graduating early from the school. People said the Birddogs were making a bad choice when they selected a wide receiver from South Korea with only 2 years of football experience. However, William proved the doubters wrong and cemented himself as one of ISFL's elite receivers even though his journey to that title was very long and rocky. (293)

Some say Teddy Utterstruzen had always decided he was going to to the the University of Nevada Las Vegas, despite him claiming the opposite. Truth be told, many Colleges and experts were shocked when Utterstruzen announced his decision to attend UNLV to play Football, since he came out of High School as a 4 star recruit Running Back, breaking several records for his High School, most of which have previously been set by Sean Taylor, who attended the same High School.
However, very similar to Sean Taylor, Utterstruzen switched positions from Running Back to Safety going into College. At first, he did not get many snaps, however throughout his freshman season he gradually transition to becoming the starting strong safety for the Rebels of UNLV. He quickly earned the nickname "Bean", half beast half man.
Utterstruzen put up strong stats throughout most of his college career, and was predicted by many to go much higher than what he ultimately went at in the DSFL draft.
His low drafting position might have been influenced alot by his behaviour in college aswell, where he would show up to games sometimes hungover from partying all night, show up to training camp covered in glitter smelling like cheap booze and sex.
When questioned about his behaviour in college he tends to respond "im dennis rodman bitch".

Rucker was quite the high school athlete in Toronto but given his geographical location combined with the lack of scoutish from Universities it was unlikely Rucker was going to be featured in many big colleges plans. Despite this he still average a 4.5 star recruit rating across Scout.com, 247Sports and Rivals. Rucker would commit to Syracuse for his college education offer alongside his football offer, albeit it's difficult to say which came first. his education was always placed at the forefront of his priorities. Rucker's offer did come in part due to his business acumen, as exampled recently with his connection with Crusty Butter, as much as his football ability. His Economics and Business degree offer came first in his mind before his football offer did. He would take his helmet and pads with him with nothing more than a vague desire to hopefully play at some level, albeit without the thought that he'd become entrenched as an award winning start at Syracuse. What would follow would be an intense summer training session with Rucker doing everything he could to keep his studies afloat whilst juggling the career of an aspiring student athlete. Eventually Rucker would lock himself into a start position prior to the start of the season and he didn't look back, notching 39 tackles.

Although college is an incredible start for kicking off the career of most athletes, Adelie de Pengu did not in fact go to college. Obviously this is because he is a penguin. Instead of training to be an athlete his whole life like many of the machines we see here in our league, Adelie instead spent his days swimming through the oceans of the arctic catching fish with his penguin family. A lot of fishing, a lot of swimming, a lot of sliding on his tummy. This was how Adelie kept in shape. He never actually though he would play football or any sport. In fact it wasn't until he was an adult that he even learned of humans. Bjorn Ironside discovered him when he was at his worst and saved him. He was given a better life and a chance to be a star, so he immediately went to work. Within a few mere months of being discovered by Bjorn, Adelie had put in the work to get built up and become an all star athlete. Many have questioned how it was that Adelie came into form so quickly, but Adelie has kept his secrets. Rumors have run through the league like wildfire on how this small penguin had become such a beast, but so far none have managed to put their finger on it. He's here now and he's here to stay.
