*First Impressions on Tijuana - Guriinwoodo - 11-04-2020

Hey there folks, my name is Guriinwoodo (Chris Farley, upcoming draft prospect) and I am writing a bit of media to try to bump my bank up a bit. Having spent quite some time in management in various capacities over in the PBE, I know that first impressions are very important to a league for a myriad of reasons. Because of this, I figured I'd give my take on how the Tijuana Locker Room has treated me thus far, as well as my overall impressions on the league.

Going into this, I had initially intended on just min earning and hanging out in the kcc LR due to having some friends in there. Their LR was popping off last night and they were a massive help in me getting initially set up in this league. I plan on sticking around in there for as long as they'll have me, what a great bunch of guys! Special thanks to my recruiter WhatAmUs who helped me create my player and clued me into the meta!

Shortly after creating my player, I received a DM from the Tijuana GM saying they had picked me up from waivers. Since the turnaround was so quick I'm assuming they were at the top of the queue. Pretty crazy! Here I had thought that I would just coast in this league just to hang out with the community here, but now I'm getting some serious consideration! Tijuana isn't the only one who is taking Chris Farley seriously, as I also fully intend on acquiring enough dough to get full equipment for this upcoming season. I honestly should have known better, my personality is one that I tunnelvision on anything new that I do. I should've known that there would be no way that I'd min earn. For any majors GM that's bothering to read this though, I can't promise that I'll stick around long enough to be a worthwhile investment so please don't take my initial flurry as a sign that I will be a consistent earner in the future!

After joining the Luchadores locker room, I was blown away by the activity. Much like KCC, they have such a fun cast of guys in there that are active and very fun to be around. This is not an exhaustive list and certainly not a list of people I think are the 'most active' or fun or anything like that, but guys like Pat Random Name, A. Mellott, W. Sconnie, Myth, Rich Triplet and others have really made my introduction to this league a welcome one. Special shout out to Myth for going out of his way helping me out with my predictions as well as Rich Triplet for scanning through my user profile to see what I've missed. Also a big thanks to forty three for helping me with the wiki, something which I was really struggling on due to my technological incompetence.

Tijuana certainly has an active and helpful LR, but what about their team performance. I was immediately stricken by how many active OL were in the discord, as I was told that that's a position that has been a struggle to fill in both leagues. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Tijuana has such a strong team history of winning and activity in the community. I hopped on the wiki and found the Luchadores 'Ring of Honor' which was a very compelling read. I think that team hall of fames is such a wonderful gesture from GMs to their players in recognition for those players living up to expectations and dedicating their time and energy into something. As a former development league GM myself, I really appreciated all the work that my guys put into making our team a community to be proud of and I can immediately tell that the Tijuana GMs really care about their team, their community and this league. Was also very awesome to see three Offensive Lineman in the Ring of Honor! I certainly hope that I may someday add my own name to that list!

I also had the opportunity to read through the History of the Tijuana Luchadores which was a very entertaining read. 3 Championships in a row... wow! Whoever made the entries is a very good writer. After 7 seasons of losses I couldn't help but smile seeing that Tijuana managed to eke out a victory for their first championship and Ultimini thanks to the efforts of their stalwart defense. It seems like karma wanted to make up for their bad start because they went on to win the next two as well! I'm unsure which user was behind the QB Adriana Falconi, but they must've been pretty elated! According to the index she both won them an Ultimini and set the team records for both passing yardage, completion percentage touchdowns in a single season, records that still remain to this day. More on the index; her predecessor Sam Penner apparently had a 100% completion rating in the playoffs in the team's 8th season. If anyone has any links to the drama and meme'ing that ensued from that I'd love to see it! I also enjoyed the logopalooza that even had links to the artwork in the last season entry!

I saw on the PTs that updating wikipedia will no longer award TPE. I sincerely hope that teams still continue to keep an up to date wikipedia for their teams because I really did have a blast reading through all those entries and learning about the history of my new team. It'll be wonderful getting to know these guys and bonding with everyone in the coming months!

In summation, I have nothing but nice things to say about Tijuana and my teammates. While it is a bit like a cult and the water here tastes funny, the tacos and beer are amazing and the pancake wall must be seen to be believed. Also an appeal to HO, please stop fining Mith and Swanky.

And here I thought it was the tequila that kept the cult going strong......

For real though they're a great bunch, just watch out for that @Tonzy guy he's trouble.

Mith and Swanky have been fined for using rookies to beg for mercy on their behalf.

@enigmatic would have been the user behind Adriana Falconi, and I believe she made the logo as well!

I can't remember any memeing about Penner's play on the field....

And although my player wasn't technically on the team when they finally broke the curse, I can confirm that it was an exciting time to be a lucha!

But glad you're enjoying your experience south of the border so much!

Playing for Tijuana and winning 3 in a row sure was amazing and made it easy to love being at the QB position.
