*Welcome To The Timberlake Dimension (Weeks 1-3 S25) - xenosthelegend - 11-28-2020 Bob Timberlake, a real life NFL player who only successfully kicked 6.7% of his field goals. The Timberlake Dimension is a place where kickers emulate this, and only have a 6.7% chance of getting points on any kick that they made. In a world that has forgotten how to kick accurately who is at the top? And how different does the ISFL look? For this experiment (I'm not even sure I want to call it that), we will be using the ASFC, and comparing how they did in the sim to how they did in the Timberlake Dimension. Kicks that were already missed will remain, every other kick will be put through a random number generator from 1-1000, if the number is 67 or less, the kick is good. Altered scores that end in a tie will be marked as a tie. Now let's take a vacation to kicker hell. Week 1 games affected: SaberCats vs Otters Outlaws vs Second Line Hahalua vs Copperheads Fire Salamanders vs Silverbacks In the first game of the season things already go wrong as Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname and Matthew McDairmid both missed their first field goal attempts, thinking it is just rust they still feel confident going into their next kicks. In the second quarter Dasistwirklichseinnachname missed another field goal, and an extra point. To open the second half Orange County scored a kickoff return TD, Dasistwirklichseinnachname missed his fourth kick of the day, and began to wonder if something was wrong with him. Late in the third quarter McDairmid missed an extra point after Jamar Lackson punched the ball in from one yard out. Dasistwirklichseinnachname had one final chance at redemption, in which he missed a 29 yard field goal attempt, now going 0/5 in all kicks on the day. McDairmid did not do any better as he missed another extra point to end the game, going 0/3 on kicking for the game. In what was a game that the otters won 23-17 is now 12-12 tie. The only kick in the first quarter of the second affected game already missed, so no changes yet. In the second quarter deviations from the main timeline start to occur, Jay-Jaymison misses a 24 yard field goal attempt. Jay-Jaymison also missed 2 50+ yard attempts in this quarter. But Thomason overcomes the odds and makes the first successful kick of the season, scoring an extra point for his team. Ideas that he was not affected by this curse are quickly dispelled as he went on to miss his next kick, a 42 yard field goal attempt. Jay-Jaymison's fifth kick of the game misses again, this time an extra point attempt late in the third quarter. Thomason missed both extra point attempts in the fourth quarter. The game ended in a victory for NOLA, 24-16. After applying the changes that score turns into a 19-12 victory for NOLA. The next game affected involves the league's leading scorer, Venus Powers. Time to see if she remains that at the end of this nightmare. In the first quarter Pseudo QB missed an extra point, and Venus Powers missed a 22 yard field goal. In the second quarter, QB missed another extra point, and Powers missed an extra point. Through the first half both kickers combined for a total of 6 missed points. It was more of the same in the third quarter as QB missed his third extra point attempt of the game. Powers missed a 38 yard field goal attempt, and missed an extra point attempt. In the fourth quarter Powers missed her third field goal attempt of the game, and QB missed another 2 extra point attempts. The result goes from a 35-23 Copperheads victory to a 30-12 Copperheads victory. Now we see what happens when one team has a kicker who is unaffected by the Timberlake Dimension, and one that has a kicker affected by the Timberlake Dimension. In games like this I will only be covering what happens to the kicker affected. Smalls missed his first extra point attempt of the game. Smalls missed his second extra point attempt of the game. Smalls missed his third extra point of the game, this one not changed. But for his fourth extra point attempt of the game Smalls did something only one other kicker affected by the Timberlake Dimension had done in week 1, made an extra point. Dougie Smalls is now tied for the lead in most points scored by a kicker in the ASFC with 1. Instead of losing to Berlin 27-30, New York lost to Berlin 25-30. Through week 1 here are the ASFC standings: AUS 1-0 NO 1-0 OCO 0-0-1 SJS 0-0-1 NY 0-1 AZ 0-1 HON 0-1 Week 2 games affected: Outlaws vs SaberCats Otters vs Silverbacks Second Line vs Hahalua Liberty vs Copperheads Arizona vs San Jose, after the kickers of both teams failed to score a single point in week 1, they are looking to prove it was a fluke. It wasn't. Jay-Jaymison missed his 2 field goal attempts in the first quarter. All four kicks in the second quarter were missed, three of which were field goals, the other was an extra point. In the third quarter Jay-Jaymison missed another field goal attempt, now going 0/4 on the day for field goal attempts. But after a pick six by Rashad Hilliard, McDairmid managed to successfully kick an extra point. This happiness was short lived for McDairmid as his next extra point attempt was a miss. Late in the fourth quarter Arizona finally put points on the board by scoring a touchdown, Jay-Jaymison's extra point attempt was unsuccessful. Orange County vs New York, a game that in real life featured great kicking performances by the kickers, not a single kick was missed. But in the Timberlake Dimension, it was anything but a perfect day for kickers. Smalls missed the first extra point attempt of the game, then Dasistwirklichseinnachname followed that performance by missing a 33 yard field goal attempt. Then late in the first quarter Smalls successfully kicked an extra point, scoring another point for his team. Smalls is now the first kicker to make 2 kicks in the ASFC this season. Dasistwirklichseinnachname had none of this luck as he missed an extra point attempt, then missed another extra point attempt, then missed a third extra point attempt. Now it was Smalls' turn to try an extra point. He missed. Late in the third quarter Smalls missed a 21 yard field goal attempt. Early in the fourth quarter Smalls missed another field goal, this time from 42 yards out. And Dasistwirklichseinnachname missed another extra point. The final score of the game ended up being 24-19, and a victory for Orange County. In this game the Hahalua dropped 55 on the Second Line. This did not happen in the Timberlake Dimension. Things already go wrong as all three kicks in the first quarter miss. In the second quarter all four kicks miss. In the third quarter all three kicks miss again. In the fourth quarter the first two kicks miss. Then Thomason does something incredible, he makes two kicks in a row. Both of them were extra point attempts, but now the Second Line are the first team in the ASFC to have their kicker make consecutive kicks, this may be the only time it happens this season. But enough of that feel good moment for the kicker. It doesn't matter anyway, the Timberlake Dimension just gave us meaningless points to make a lopsided blowout slightly less lopsided. The result is still the same, the Hahalua still win by a lot, and kickers feel nothing but pain. The second time an ASFC team faced a non ASFC team happened to the Copperheads. It didn't end well for them as it turned a close game into a not close game. QB missed his first extra point attempt of the game. He then missed an 18 yard field goal attempt. Then he missed again from 25 yards out. Then he missed another extra point. Then he missed his final extra point of the game, going 0/5 on kicks, turning the final score from a 27-30 loss, into a 18-30 loss. Week 2 ASFC standings: OCO 1-0-1 SJS 1-0-1 HON 1-1 NO 1-1 AUS 1-1 AZ 0-2 NY 0-2 Week 3 games affected: Sabercats vs Second Line Copperheads vs Otters Silverbacks vs Outlaws Hawks vs Hahalua Here we have kickers who have both made at least one kick, maybe Thomason can keep his hot streak alive. Things start out poorly for them as McDairmid misses his first extra point attempt of the game. Then Thomason misses a 30 yard field goal attempt. He then misses an extra point attempt, now both his kick streak, and extra point streak of 2 has snapped. McDairmid misses his next extra point attempt, Thomason responds by missing an extra point attempt. Seeing an opportunity to do something McDairmid messes up and missed an extra point. Thomason missed another extra point early in the third quarter. McDairmid missed a 39 yard field goal attempt, then kicked the ball so off target on his next extra point attempt that it ended up in the stands at the 5 yard line. Thomason actually missed the next extra point, so nothing changes here. But McDairmid misses a 32 yard field goal that he made at the end of the game in real life. The score goes from a Sabercats victory 34-30, to a 25-24 Sabercats victory. This was a game in which the Copperheads lost 3-35, lets see if they got those 3 points in the Timberlake Dimension. Dasistwirklichseinnachname missed his first extra point attempt of the game, then missed another, then missed his third. QB missed a field goal from 32 yards out, now securing the shutout for Orange County. Dasistwirklichseinnachname then missed his fourth extra point of the game, then he missed his fifth. Dasistwirklichseinnachname and QB now go the first three weeks of the season having not made a single point. The result of the game is the same, but now it is 30-0. Silverbacks and Outlaws, god I hope one of them makes a kick, I want to get off this ride. Jay-Jaymison misses an extra point attempt, then Smalls missed a field goal from 50+ in real life. Jay-Jaymison then missed a field goal from 18 yards out, then one from 42, then one from 47. Smalls missed from 25, then he missed an extra point right before the end of the third quarter. Jay-Jaymison then missed a 35 yard field goal attempt at the start of the fourth quarter, Smalls missed another extra point, then he missed a 23 yard field goal attempt. That was the final kick of the game, more pain for kickers. The game also now ends in a 12-12 tie, our second of the season. Hawks vs Hahalua, a game that featured immaculate kicking from Venus Powers now tainted by the Timberlake Dimension. Powers missed a 39 yard field goal attempt in the first quarter. The in the second quarter missed an extra point, then missed a 45 yard field goal attempt. In the third quarter Powers missed a 21 yard field goal attempt. And finally in the fourth quarter there was mercy, no kicks for Venus Powers. Venus Powers, the league's leading scorer in real life, now has zero points through three weeks. Week 3 ASFC Standings: OCO 2-0-1 SJS 2-0-1 HON 1-2 NO 1-2 AUS 1-2 AZ 0-2-1 NY 0-2-1 This is where I am going to cut the experiment short and stop. Why? No reason. Just like there is no reason for the Timberlake Dimension to exist other than pain.
