*Week 1 Power rankings - tlk742 - 08-01-2017 If you go to the index, it has the legion as the #1 power ranking team, no one buys that. So here's tlk742's power rating. A power rating indicates that if two teams face off on neutral ground, the higher power ranking should win, does it hold? it's why we play the game. Going forward, I will have change trackers put in so you can see what happens. One thing to note, every team that won was at home. 1. ![]() It should come as no surprise that the defending champions are sitting at #1. The defense held the top threat to their throne in the AFC to just 9 points, and the Orange County Otters are no pushovers. 2. ![]() At the end of the first half, the game looked pretty much like a dead heat between the Colorado Yeti and Yellowknife. Then Garden and Orosz with Nuck reminded people about the high-octane offense that comes from the cold with some high flying heroics that put the game well out of reach for the Yeti. The defense couldn't stop Boss, but they stopped every other aspect of the play. Pressure makes diamonds they say, and that is very true. By the way, Yellowknife is the only team that boasts two 100 yd receivers in a single game. 3. ![]() Here's where I will get flak. The Otters lost, but I just don't see them worse than the rest of the teams here. Despite the loss, they were against the defending champions, and if you dig really deep, they still are the team to beat. They got stopped in the end zone every team, but they held the Outlaws offense to a paltry score too. The Outlaws finished with 8 first downs, and a paltry 1/11 success rate on third down. 4. ![]() The Sabercats showed up with a strong with a run-heavy offense. The committee approach worked, and thew through with an efficiency that is quite effective in the air. The other crazy thing to the Sabercats is that they got 3 sacks while allowing 0. But the real diamond among this team is their special teams, who took Kicks and punts deep, both giving and receiving. 5. ![]() You can make an argument that the Yeti are better than the Sabercats. But here's the problem, the Yeti are extremely poor at ball security. 2 Interceptions and 2 Fumbles is not a good start to a season, and something that needs to be fixed. That said, the Yeti do boast one of the better offensive lines and it shows as the line went to I-HOP and got 17 pancakes among them, which allowed star runningback Boss Tweed to destroy the Wraiths defense. 6. ![]() The hawks aren't a very good team. Against a porous line, the team got 4 sacks 6 sacks (It was correctly pointed out that I cannot count). They can't generate pass rush and they cannot get the ball moving on offense. (Removing this as my claim was wrong, they can pash rush) The sub .500 throwing success and one man show on Wide Receiver of Gibson coupled with Farlane being the only two bright spots, the latter of which got 100 yards on the ground, leaves a lot to be desired on this team. They could surprise people, but I am skeptical. 7. ![]() The Legion stunned the world after going 0-3 in the preseason. The OT win against the Hawks was a stunner. Therein lies why I have the Legion below the Hawks. They pulled out an OT win in a system that hugely helps the home team while at home. They scarped a win together and in all honesty, should be more of a red flag than sign of success. No one will expect great things from the legion this season, but it looks like they have the building blocks to be a contender in teh future. Guess their draft strategy paid off. 8. ![]() Speaking of drafts, remember when everyone said the liberty won the draft? It didn't seem like it last night. The defense is not present. 2 Passes deflected and 1 interception with no other positive stat means that the Liberty may want to look at their draft board again. Fox North has been great, as has the wide receiver corps in general, with 3 5+ receivers, but it makes one wonder how they only put up a single touchdown against a middle of the road defense when they put 242 passing yards up. Your whole pressure argument is pretty misplaced actually with the Hawks. *Week 1 Power rankings - 124715 - 08-01-2017 Dude way too early to look at stats and try to convert them to power rankings. At least look at preseason. *Week 1 Power rankings - tlk742 - 08-01-2017 (08-01-2017, 03:19 PM)Gwdaja Wrote:I feel like getting 4 sacks is a pretty decent pass rush for a game...weird that's it's highlighted as a negative. I mean, it's relative, I think 4 sacks v legion is a lot less impressive than 4 sacks v otters, if that makes sense. *Week 1 Power rankings - Noppadet - 08-01-2017 (08-01-2017, 01:20 PM)tlk742 Wrote:I mean, it's relative, I think 4 sacks v legion is a lot less impressive than 4 sacks v otters, if that makes sense. I get what you're saying, but 4 sacks is still a significant pass rush. Our D didn't look too bad! It was mainly our passing offense that was lacking, at least I think. *Week 1 Power rankings - Gwdaja - 08-01-2017 (08-01-2017, 01:22 PM)Noppadet Wrote:Again 6 sacks not 4. http://www.nsfl.wtgbear.com/season02/TeamL...nsiveStats.html Damn, so even moreso to what I'm saying. 6 sacks is a really good pass rush game. *Week 1 Power rankings - Kristy95 - 08-01-2017 Liberty were leading for most of the game and only a long kickoff return and an interception touchdown cost us the game. Dont think we are as bad as you think we are. |
