*3 Predicitons to finish out the season. - DApolloS - 12-26-2020 Well Christmas has come and gone, but the ISFL season is still ongoing. With 4 games left in the ISFL season, We’re going to make some bold predictions about the remainder of the year and possibly even some guesses at some possible award winners. Here we go! New York Silverbacks will clinch their first playoff berth in franchise history So, the title says it all here. The Silverbacks currently sit 5th in the ASFC, with identical records (6-6) as the San Joe SaberCats and Arizona Outlaws. One of their last three games comes against one of those teams they are battling with for the final spot in the Outlaws. They beat the Outlaws earlier this season all the way back in Week 2 in a 30-21 decision. They have also beaten The Orange County Otters who sit in 2nd place in the conference with an 8-4 record, the same record as first place Austin Copperheads. The Silverbacks could repeat their previous success against the Otters, but they had a bad lost against the Copperheads in week 5, losing 24-7 in that game. Still, they were a much younger team and they have grown a lot since the last time they played them. The last opponent they face in their final four games is the NSFC Chicago Butchers. Chicago holds a 2-1 record against ASF teams this season with the Silverbacks being their last ASFC team to face this season. They beat the SaberCats in week 5 in a low scoring tilt 10-3 and the 1-11 Honolulu Hahalua in week 8 in a high scoring battle, a final score of 48-39. Their only defeat against the AFSC comes against the Otters in week 9, losing the game 34-27. Seeing as the Silverbacks have already beaten the Otters, it’s possible they could also beat the Butchers. My guess is the team finishes their final 4 weeks with a 3-1 record, bringing them to a season record of 9-7. A record like that will hopefully be enough for them to clinch a playoff spot and give fans in the Big Apple something to cheer about past week 16. Sarasota Rookie QB Boss Jr wins multiple awards Next up we have an end of season prediction. Bos Jr has been on fire so far this season. His Sailfish sit 2nd in the NSFC, tied with both the Chicago Butchers and the Colorado Yeti. He currently leads the league in passing yards by a healthy margin with 3726 yards, a jump of 345 from the next QB. He also sits 3rd in touchdown totals with 22, only one back of 2nd place and 5 from 1st. His 10interceptions may be somewhat of an outlier, but I think his other offensive will more than make up for his INTs. He makes a very strong chance for multiple awards this season, including QB of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. For offensive rookie, he doesn’t appear to have any real competition with top rookie running back being Rotchburns of Second Line, with 804 rushing yards on 154 attempts and 5 touchdowns. The next rookie after that is Outlaws RB Pama who has 688 yards and 9 touchdowns. At wide receiver, the top rookie is Snyder from the Silverbacks with a little over half what the league leader has in yards. It seems his only competition for Rookie of the Year would come from defensive players, most notably Baltimore Strong Safety Yeboah, currently sitting at 7 sacks, 2INTs and 56 tackles. The other defensive player he would get competition from would be Cornerback Fieri of the Philadelphia Liberty. His numbers look a little more impressive then Yeboah with 92 tackles, 1 sack and 2 INTs. His sack numbers are lower but he is almost doubling Yeboah. Either way, Boss Jr’s case looks to be strong for those. As for Offensive and QB of the year, it’s hard to ignore a first year QB who has take a Liberty team where they were only 2 seasons ago into a legitimate playoff contender. Honolulu doesn’t get the top pick in the draft This one is probably crazy, but I’m going to reach for my last prediction. For this to happen, the would need to win at least 2 games this season while the 3-9 Baltimore Hawks need to lose out. I’d like a correction if I’m wrong, but I believe season tie breaker would be points for, which Honolulu has over the Hawks. But if the tie breaker is points for to points against ratio, they would need to win 3 games if the Hawks win none or win all 4 if the Hawks win only one game. I think the most realistic option would be for the Hawks to lose out and Honolulu to win 3 games. But who of their final 4 opponents do they beat to lose out on the top spot in the draft? Their final four games come against the Orange County Otters (8-4) in Orange County, Austin Copperheads (8-4) at home, San Jose SaberCats (6-6) and Berlin Fire Salanders (5-7), the last two also being on the road. Of the four, the two toughest will definetly be the Copperheads and Otters. I’m going to pick the Otters game as the one they lose though as they are on the road and still a very strong team. Playing at home might give these players what they need to make one final push before taking things on the road against the SaberCats, who are 4-2 at home, not a bad record, but I think an upset would be in order. Their final opponent would be the Berlin Fire Salamanders, who have a worse record at home then they do on the road. The only concern would be whether or not the Jet lag would get to the players, having to fly literally half way across the world for this match up (Expedia says the flight is roughly 27 hours, A long haul for a football game). If the team can recover from the flight quick enough, I believe they can take down the Fire Salamanders. Well, now that I have 3 predictions, I think it’s about time to wrap things up. Let me know what you think and maybe share some of your crazy predictions or tell me why I’m crazy. Merry Christmas everyone!
