*Hit, Meh, or Bust; A Look Back at S25: Rounds 4 and beyond - zaynzk - 12-28-2020

Lets Finish this now, before starting I expect a few more hits or misses now since now the draft becomes a bit more of a crap shoot and there will likely be more players with TPE less than mine. For each round I lowered the bar for being a Hit since a 400 TPE player is quite a find in the 6th round but is a bit of a reach in the 4th

HOW I WILL GRADE
Since we are in the 4th round I am going to lower the barrier for being a hit. so if a player has more than 500 TPE, I will consider them a HIT, HOWEVER, in this round, I will be a little more lenient to teams that selected a still active player in positions were nothing better was left over so instead of a MEH, i will give them a MINOR HIT. But of course if they have less than 400 I will consider them a Bust.

With the first pick in the 4th round the Yellowknife Wraith select Mark Walker WR

I have seen Deadlunitic around a lot in the forum, and he is clearly someone who fell due to the amount of WR talent in this draft. and at 548 TPE he is a clear HIT

With the 2nd pick in the 4th round the Arizona Outlaws select Darren Pama RB

This is probably the player OCO should have selected over bronko mills, but I'm sure Zona is glad they are benefiting off of OCO's mistake this guy is currently the 2nd best RB in the class, and ztarwarz is someone who i have seen all over the league and makes pretty solid media. Pama has 582 TPE and his a HIT

With the 3rd pick in the 4th round the Philadelphia Liberty select Samuel Roes DE

While this guy was called up and is at a TPE level where he is still playable, the fact that he has not updated in almost 2 months, and that he still only got to 390 means he is a BUST

With the 4th pick in the 4th round the Baltimore Hawks select Gary Goodman LB

Goodman probably should have been the liberties pick instead of Roes, for one big reason, he is now their Co-GM. This pick interests me for a few reasons. The trade that sent Goodman over to Philly might have not been the best one, Goodman who is at 575 TPE was traded for Spike Suzuki who is 3 seasons older and only at 452 TPE as well as a swapping of First round picks. With Philly at 4-8 and Baltimore at 3-9, the swap of theses first rounders will likely only be one spot. I personally think Philly got away with robbery here, especially when Arizona got an amazing value for Pat, Baltimore basically traded an active and earning player for a worse older and IA player, for basically the chance to move up 1 spot in the draft (and there is a solid chance Baltimore will have the worse record and keep their pick. While I Cody is an amazing player who has earned well, the low return Baltimore got for his services, means that this pick was a BUST

With the 5th pick in the 4th round Yellowknife Wraiths select Sheed Thebaw DT

It is wild how many active players were on the board at this point, who had earned a significant amount of TPE. However this might have been the biggest wiff of a pick for Yellowknife. Thebaw is one of the only players in the class to retire, and he did it in his first season. This is the only pick that has 0 chance of ever paying YKW dividends due to his retirement. This pick was a BUST

With the 6th pick in the 4th round the Austin Copperheads select Ben Alexander-Arnold CB

This is a pick that surprised me of how little TPE he has earned. Ben has been active his whole time in Austin, however he has earned at a very slow rate, to the point were the selection of him here over other prospects. He has earned less TPE than Beefstu who has been IA for 2 months, with 366 TPE, and with at least 2 currently active CB's who were still on the board with over 500 TPE Ben is a BUST

With the 7th pick in the 4th round Honolulu Hahalua select Alex Reed WR

This player has been IA for over a month, and with less that only 290 TPE, and the fact that there were still active WR on the board, this player is a BUST

with the 8th pick in the 4th round the Arizona Outlaws select James Hoffman CB

This is an interesting pick. He is currently only at 390 TPE and is IA, however this pick is not a bust for a few reasons. Firstly despite being IA, he earned more than Ben Alexander-Arnold, and he was used in part of the trade that sent Him and Pat to philly for Wesley Eriksen. While he hasnt updated in a month, Zona probably does not care as he was active during his time in Zona, and was used in a trade that brought a star player to the outlaws. For this reason Im controversially calling this pick a HIT

With the 9th pick in the 4th round the Sarasota Sailfish select Cleg Manclaw TE

Cynoblaze was a pretty cool guy, but he unfortunately has been IA for about a month. Funny enough he actually earned more TPE than their 2nd round selection of Clay Stallworth. However despite earning 1 TPE more than a 2nd rounder, he still only earned 334 TPE and is a BUST

With the 10th pick of the 4th round the New Orleans Second Line select Mike Rotchburns RB

The 4th RB off the board, Shue has earned alot better than most of the members of this round, but however is not a max earner like the Running Backs selected before him, and has now fallen to 100 TPE behind fellow 4th rounder Darren Pama, at 480 TPE, Im sure NOLA is fine with having him as their long term RB2 as Mr. Forty-Two will likley catch up to him and replace Toriki, but since he is the 3rd highest earning RB in the class, I have to call Rotchburns a MINoR HIT

With the 11th pick of the 4th round the New York Silverbacks select Harley Fank WR

Finally a really solid earner in this round that has been full of IA's and low earners, Fank has been earning really well for New York, and at 546 TPE he is a huge snag at this point and is a HIT

With the 12th pick of the 4th round the Chicago Butchers Select Timmy Dimbi DT

A player who is still active and earning but has been sent down for a 2nd season, this was not a bad pick by chicago, and at this point he was the the last still active DT that was still there, Despite the fact he only has 444 TPE, he is still active enough to be considered another MINOR HIT

With the 13th pick of the 4th round the Colorado Yeti select Angelo Cerilli DT

I legit know nothing about this guy, for some reason hes not in the TPE tracker, but it doesnt matter he only earned for like a week after he was officially drafted by Colorado. With the trade for Big Edd and the drafting of Redbeard McFredbeard, its clear Colorado Reached for Cerilli due to need, but this pick was a clear BUST

With the 14th pick in the draft New York Silverbacks select Brick Van Sanzo DE

This draft was very top heavy for DE, so at this point in the draft there were only two DE who are still currently active, and the Silverbacks went for Snazzlepuss here. He currently has 458 TPE, and is active enough for me to give him the MINOR HIT

5TH ROUND

In this round Im lowering the bar to being a Hit too 444 TPE as if you hit that much TPE you probably should have been picked over Some of the guys in the last round. If a player get above 500 TPE at this point, he is considered a STEAL. Meanwhile bellow 366 or IA is considered a bust

With the First Pick in the 5th round the Berlin Fire Salamanders select Jeeeeroy Lenkins CB

I have no idea how LewisMelville fell this far in the draft, a position of need who seemed to be just about max earning before the draft, Lenkins is at 524 TPE, and probably should have been pick ahead of the two CB who were drafted in the last round, this is a amazing pick and a STEAL

With the 2nd pick in the 5th round the New York Silverbacks select Marc Hamel OL

A pretty solid pickup for New York, who were in need of Offensive Line going into this draft. Hamel is at 414 TPE and is the 5th best O-Line in the class so I will give this a MINOR HIT

With the 3rd pick in the 5th round the Philadelphia Liberty select Jake Fencik K

The first kicker off the board, Xenos is a max earner who only fell due to the position he played. The clear best kicker in the draft I am going to call this pick a HIT

With the 4th pick in the 5th round the Austin Copperheads select Connor Quigley OL

This was a pretty solid pick for Austin. Whatamus is the new KCC Co-GM, and despite his low earning, Since draft day, Quigly currently has 369 TPE which is enough for him to be considered a MINOR HIT

With the 5th pick in the 5th round the Yellowknife Wraiths select Milk Man S

I was kinda sad when Milk Man went IA, he was a very cool guy in the Dallas LR, and had over 200 TPE going into the draft, so the fact he was still here in the 5th was kinda shocking. however since the draft he has only earned about 60 TPE and has not logged onto the site for over a month. this pick was a BUST

With the 6th pick in the 5th round the Arizona Outlaws select Mason Gillion CB

This is a really weird trend but both of the CB selected in the 5th round were better than all of the CB selected in the 4th (Including the guy Arizona selected), Zona clearly traded the right guy away as Gillion is a max earner and at 498 he just misses my steal rankings, but is still a massive HIT

With the 7th pick in the 5th round New Orleans Second Line select Adam C. Spencer WR

This is a user that only fell due to rumors that he would retire and start an agency (i might be wrong so someone can correct me on that) however at this point in the draft, NOLA felt like a user like AdamS was too good to pass up on in this round. He has repaid NOLA's faith by staying active and not starting that rumored agency, instead gaining 515 TPE and being a HIT

With the 8th pick in the 5th round Arizona Outlaws select Teri Yaki RB

While there was not too many names in the RB pool left, Zona ends there amazing streak of basiclly hitting in every single pick with Yaki. He is still active but has only earned 340 TPE. With Two running backs on the board that earned better than him in this class, Yaki is a BUST

With the 9th pick in the 5th round the Chicago Butchers select Mark Callous WR

A player who I thought was a huge steal when I heard his name called in the 5th. He was a max earner who went on Vacation during scouting so he fell. However he went IA with only 297 TPE, so he is a BUST

With the 10th pick in the 5th round the Sarasota Sailfish select Dexter Jackson LB

at 307 TPE and having been traded to Baltimore for a 3rd in a less active class, Dexter Jackson would be a bust, but that trade bumps him to a MINOR HIT

With the 11th pick in the 5th round the Sarasota Sailfish select Teddy Utterstruzen S

Another guys who just misses the bracket for my steal, Utterstruzen has earned at a crazy high level and is currently at 494 TPE. The fact that sarasota got a player of this caliber in the late 5th is pretty insane. Yo actually i make the rules this guy is too insane to not be an absolute STEAL

With the 12th pick in the 5th round the Sarasota Sailfish select Steven Wadham S

The third Sarasota pick in a row and the 2nd safety in a row, this another active user and an great pick for Sarasota here. They ended up flipping him for a 3rd, which might have been a little low for his value considering Jackson was also traded for a 3rd with significantly less TPE. However I am still willing to give this a MINOR HIT

With the 13th pick in the draft the Berlin Fire Salamanders select Cmon Skiuuup TE

Berlin has done very well in the later rounds, getting Cmon Skiuuup late in the 5th. He is currently the 2nd best TE and is a Streamer for the ISFL, and at 547 TPE this guys is a huge STEAL

With the last pick in the 5th round the Chicago Butchers select Etrigan T. Slayer DE

An actually amazing pick for Chicago here. While Etrigan T. Slayer is a pretty solid with 462 TPE, which would be enough for me to give Chicago a hit, what makes this pick even more special, is that Thiath was actually traded to Baltimore for a 1st round pick. Chicago was able to trade a player who has not hit 500 TPE yet for a 1st round pick, this was absolute robbery from Chicago and turing a 5th rounder to a 1st round pick bumps this pick from a hit to an absolute STEAL

6th Round

As Its getting more and more IA now, the bar is set to basically 0 now. Any active player above 200 TPE is a hit, and player above 400 TPE is a steal at this point otherwise any IA player is just a MISS since you cant really have a bust in the 6th round

First pick in the 6th round New York Silverbacks Select Buster Bawls FB

At 423 TPE and active and the fact he is the 4th best RB TPE wise, means Bawls is a STEAL

2nd pick in the 6th round Berlin Fire Salamanders select Gavin Leclerc CB

MISS

3rd pick in the 6th round Philadelphia Liberty select Brent Silva DT

He has not updated for a long time but i just noticed he has been doing stuff without claiming it, im too lazy to add it up to see how much TPE he really has, but I will give him a HIT

4th pick in the 6th round Colorado Yeti select Anders Christiansen RB

Last RB on the board with enough TPE to actually play any roll in the ISFL level, with 368 TPE, this is a HIT

5th pick in the 6th round Chicago Butchers select Duncan Donuts OL

MISS

6th pick in the 6th round Austin Copperheads select Owen Isaac DE

339 TPE and still updating so this is a HIT

7th pick in the 6th round Honolulu Hahalua select Matt Peterson QB

300+ TPE but is retiring without playing a snap for Honolulu so this is a MISS

8th pick in the 6th round the Berlin Fire Salamanders select Lebby Newton WR

MISS

9th pick in the 6th round the Chicago Butchers pick Clay Clark CB

MISS

10th pick in the 6th round the New York Silverbacks select Marlon Alexander OL

Plat is a super active user in discord but was perceived to be a low active or IA user, He proved all the doubters wrong. Despite being the 7th player that is currently an OL off the board, Platt is now the 4th best O-Line in his class, and currently has 422 TPE, which is about 100 TPE better than 2nd round O-Line Clay Stallworth and 300 TPE better than the O-Line that was taken 5 picks earlier. Platt is a massive STEAL

11th pick in the 6th round the Austin Copperheads select Leo Bloomfield K

The only other active kicker in S25, and at 229 TPE and still updating Austin got a solid pickup late in the draft with bloomy, this was a HIT

12th pick in the 6th round the Sarasota Sailfish select Elijah Torres CB

MISS

13th pick in the 6th round the Colorado Yeti select Jake Sackson DE

MISS

14th pick in the 6th round the San Jose Sabercats select Matty Martinsson

MISS

From this point on there is not a single active pick left besides RB King Tutankhamun in the 8th round who only has 212 TPE and will likely never play in the ISFL as a RB so im going to end it here. If you are another player in the last two rounds thats still active, sorry i missed you

Observations

Both Expansion Teams New York and Berlin did very well in this draft, with almost every one of their picks hitting

Arizona Also had a crazy good draft, with several high earning players and the only player I gave a lower rating too is still at least active. Only one player they drafted in the first 6 rounds in IA and they used him in a trade and got value out of him.

YWK and Chicago has High Highs but some low lows. both these teams missed a lot with their picks, however were still able to get some solid players in this draft due to the fact that they both had alot of picks in this draft, but missed real hard early when active players in the position they drafted were still on the board

Honolulu had a Horrible Draft. Outside of the first two rounds which basically every team did well on, Honolulu did not hit on any player. I gave them only 2 Hits in my series, and one of those was their GM and the other was a cant miss prospect.

Baltimore had a even worse draft. With two Meh's in the first two rounds then a weird amount of players that were involved in trades where it seems they got the short end of the stick in most these trades. Baltimore only has 2 Players that they drafted in S25 on their starting roster which is shocking and the lowest in the league

I would call Philly's draft class anything too crazy special, BUT it has 8 players they drafted in their starting line up. While many of these are due to the fact that their roster is depleted enough that they needed to call up some IA players, this is still kinda cool and is the most in the league.

Awesome series zayn, really enjoyed reading back through the draft!

i can correct you on that...the agency thing was settled the season before

it was mostly a combo of:
position
the fact that many of the gms are too scared ill show them up because im a better gm than most of the ones who have jobs
the fact that i say things like that
contract demand is released up front

the exact percentage of each of these four things varies by team

to be completely fair, only one of the WRs taken before you hasn’t earned at a high level, so the GMs got pretty lucky, but it’s surprising people were willing to pick other players over someone who is a sure thing to earn and contribute to a War Room

This was the big one for us, we were worried we couldn't give you the PT you wanted. Funny how that ended up working out lol.

Also, didn't you say No Oco? Might have also put you up higher. Then again it was unlikely you'd have been drafted by OCO before spec considering the history there.

This was an awesome article series to read and I think it shows how well GMs are at scouting and evaluating people.

I'm most impressed at the expansions teams and it's awesome to see how well they are picking along with Arizona. Those teams have definitely shot up my list of hopeful prospective locations!

That was in my contract demands
