S26 Hall of Fame Class - infinitempg - 12-28-2020

ISFL S26 Hall of Fame Ballot Results ISFL

As a quick summary, in order to be inducted into the Hall of Fame a player needs to be voted in by 2/3 of voters - if they receive 1/3 of the votes they will stay on the ballot for the next season.

As was passed in the S23 Rules Summit, we have formed a Hall of Fame Committee! The committee was made up of Ben, bwestfield, daybe, iamslm22, JuOSu, manicmav36, nunccoepi, PigSnout, and run_cmc!

With these nine, our requirements are 6 votes to be inducted and 3 votes to stay on the ballot.

- ISFL Player Hall of Fame -

Now, I'm pleased to introduce our newest members of the International Simulation Football League Hall of Fame! Welcome to the Hall of Fame:
Danny Grithead (@Trautner), Errol Maddox (@PigSnout)
and Johnny Blaze (@JBLAZE_THE_BOSS)!

Danny Grithead was drafted 6th overall in the S10 ISFL Draft to the Orange County Otters, joining the team in the midst of their legendary dynasty. Originally a runningback, Grithead showed the versatility his career would later be defined by and switched to Safety. He had a fantastic 5 seasons in Orange County, winning two Ultimus trophies (S12 and S13), being selected to 5 Pro Bowls (S11 through S15), and winning both the S14 Defensive Back of the Year Award and the S15 Returner of the Year Award. Grithead's career really took off when he signed a blockbuster deal in free agency with the Yellowknife Wraiths prior to the S16 season. The Wraiths took advantage of his versatility and played the safety at the linebacker position, revolutionizing the league. While he did not win another Ultimus with the Wraiths (losing 4 in a row, 2 of them to his former team), Grithead put up some of the best defensive performances seen in league history. Grithead's S16 campaign resulted in a Performance of the Year award, Defensive Back of the Year Award, and Most Valuable Player Award - while his S17 campaign resulted in a Defensive Player of the Year Award. He also continued his streak of Pro Bowls, not missing one between S16 and S20. His overall statistics are some of the most impressive in league history, finishing 3rd in career tackles, T-3rd in career forced fumbles, 4th in career passes defended, and T-1st in interceptions in a season. Grithead's contributions to the league were also immortalized by his induction to the All-25 First Team.

Errol Maddox was taken 2nd overall in the S12 ISFL Draft to the Baltimore Hawks, one of the deepest of its era. Unlike many wideouts, Maddox was a quiet and stoic leader, choosing to lead by example - and what an example that was. His consistency on the outside led to him being selected to 7 Pro Bowls - not missing a single one between S15 and S21 - as well as the S19 and S21 Wide Receiver of the Year Awards. Maddox was one of the best at getting the ball into the endzone (no easy feat in this league for many wideouts), finishing 3rd in career receiving touchdowns even without being in the top 10 for receptions. Maddox broke out in the S15 season on one of the best teams in league history - winning his only Ultimus that season with the Hawks. Maddox, despite being one of the less flashy wide receivers in league history, was immortalized in the All-25 Second Team.

Johnny Blaze is our first inductee from the S13 class, being drafted at the end of the first round 8th overall to the reigning champion Orange County Otters. The Otters, fresh off the first half of their league domination, were rebuilding reloading as quarterback and fellow HOF inductee Gus Showbiz reached the end of his career. Blaze served as a security blanket for both Showbiz and new quarterback Franklin Armstrong, going to 8 Pro Bowls between S14 and S22 (only missing the S21 edition). The Otters went on to win 3 more Ultimus with Blaze on the team (S17, S18, and S19), and Blaze went on to win Tight End of the Year in two of those seasons (S18 and S19), as well as another Tight End of the Year in S16. Blaze was selected 21st overall in the S22 Expansion Draft to the Sarasota Sailfish, playing for them in his last season. Johnny Blaze was immortalized in the All-25 Second Team, one of 4 TEs in league history to be on the All-25 Team.

- ISFL General Manager Hall of Fame -

Finally, we move on to the General Manager Hall of Fame. As was passed in the S25 Rules Summit, the GM HOF has been created. This will follow the same nomination/induction process as the User HOF.

Our inaugural season of the General Manager Hall of Fame has us inducting FIVE legendary GMs from the early days of the league. Welcome to the General Manager Hall of Fame:

speculadora was the General Manager of the Orange County Otters from S10 through S19, and is widely considered the greatest GM in league history. The S17 GM of the Year finished his career with a record of 92 wins and 44 losses, a 5 time ASFC Champion, and 5 time Ultimus Champion (S12, S13, S17, S18, and S19) - the most out of any General Manager in league history.

MolarPistols was the General Manager of the Orange County Otters from S3 through S9, helping build the juggernaut that was the Orange County dynasty. He finished his career with an insane 70 wins to 28 losses, and won the S6 General Manager of the Year Award. MolarPistols brought the Otters to 4 straight ASFC titles from S4-S7, and won 3 straight Ultimus titles in S4, S5, and S6, a feat only matched by speculadora's S17-S19 Otters and ADwyer87's S1-S3 Outlaws.

bzerkap led the Yellowknife Wraiths from S3 through S10, compiling an overall record of 71 wins, 40 losses, and 1 tie. Under Bzerkap's leadership, the Wraiths never finished with a losing record and even finished S7 with a league best 13-1 record - a win total matched only by the S3 Outlaws and S10 Hawks in the 14 game era. Bzerkap finished his career as a 3 time General Manager of the Year, winning the award in S4, S5, and S7. He helped lead the Wraiths to three NSFC Championships (S4, S5, and S8) as well as winning his only Ultimus title in S8.

iamslm22 & manicmav36 (who requested to be nominated as a duo) were the GMs of the Baltimore Hawks from S8 through S13. Honored as the S10 GMs of the Year, their guidance helped take a middling Hawks team into one of the most dominant forces in the league and the team to beat in the NSFC. SLM and Manic's Hawks won 4 straight NSFC Championships (S9-S12) and won the S10 Ultimus title with a 13-1 record (one of three teams in the 14-game era to win 13 games). While the pair requested to be inducted for their contributions to the Hawks organization, we would be remiss if we did not mention SLM's brief return to the GM field as Philadelphia Liberty emergency GM in S16 and S25.

RE: S26 Hall of Fame Class - ztarwarz - 12-28-2020

Serious question, though. How is next season's GM ballot going to work? If there's only 1 person on it, aren't they almost guaranteed to make it in?

No - they would have to receive 6/9 votes. If no one does, then they don't get in - see the User HOF these past two seasons.

Congrats to all inductees
