*Approaching the Playoffs! - treant - 12-29-2020
It is time once again for James Wilkinson to speak to the press and discuss what has happened so far this season.
It has been an exciting year full of a lot of new and fun experiences that he did not think he would be able to see so with the playoffs not being far away now there is a lot to look back and reflect on for him.
Playing as a Tight End for the Bondi Beach Buccaneers this season has given him the chance to learn and improve from some of the best people in the league and I think that everyone can agree that there has been a big improvement in the player who arrived in Australia at the start of the season compared to the player that he is now!
The main thing that James has had to work on is improving the way that he can be used as a pass catching Tight End. James was a strong young man before he joined the DSFL but a lot of time has been spent by him trying to get faster and improving the way that he catches the football.
This was something that he could do good enough at when he was playing in college but he is expected to be better now that he is a professional and part of that is being able to outrun defenders and make the catches that are harder for him! He has done a good job of getting better at both of them and so far he is looking like one of the best Tight Ends in the whole of the DSFL when it comes to the yards that he has achieved catching the ball.
Even though he has still not scored a touchdown for the Buccaneers, James is very happy with the way that things have gone for him so far this season and is very grateful for his team helping him to improve and become the player that we see today! The Buccaneers are a team that should be playing in the DSFL playoffs this season so James is hopeful that he will be able to show off everything that he has been able to learn so far this season when it comes time to play in front of the biggest crowds of all.
The Buccaneers team has all been working very hard to try and win as many games as they can this season so there is going to be more pressure on James to be able to deliver on the potential that he has shown so far this season. He is confident that he has what it takes to be able to do this and James will keep trying his hardest in the last games that he has to play in the regular season before it is time to play in the very important games!
If we take a second to move away from football and talk about the other things that have been going on in the life of James, this has been a difficult week for him because it is the first time that he has not spent the Christmas period with his family in South Carolina. The restrictions that are in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that he cannot spend the time where he usually would. This has been hard for him to deal with and he feels very upset about missing out this year but he has made the best of a bad situation and tried to take his mind away from it by working as hard as he can on the training that he needs to do to improve.
I am writing this media before the Sim has taken place today but I think by the time I have finished that they have already might have happened! This means that what I am about to say might be out of date but I hope that it still makes sense! The two games that we will be playing in this sim are some of the most important ones that we will play all of the season. The conference that we are playing in is very close and very competitive this season and so we need to work as hard as we can to make sure that every game we play against the teams in our conference are games that we win.
We are playing against the Dallas Birddogs who are a team that has won the same number of games as us but are behind us in the standings at the minute. If we lose to them it will have a really bad effect on our standing so I am very hopeful that we can win the game and secure our spot as the top team in the SFC South conference!
The second game that we will play will be against the London Royals. This game is not as important as the game that we will play against Dallas because London is not in our conference but because the standings are so close it is important for us to win every game that we play so that we don't fall behind.
I am confident that the team has what it takes to win both games because I know we have all been working very hard to put the effort in that is required to win. I believe that this will show in the way that we play the game and I am hoping that James can do everything in his power to help the Buccaneers win these important games!
The last time that I wrote an article I spent some time talking about the draft process that is taking place for James in the ISFL. I had only had the chance to speak to a scout from one team when that happened but since then another scout has spoken to me and I have had another conversation with another team.
The conversations that I have had with teams is very exciting for me and I am enjoying these opportunities to talk a little bit about what I hope to do with my player in the ISFL and the way that I see the career of James Wilkinson playing out!
It is looking like it is going to be an offseason that is full of excitement as my player goes through the draft process and the league makes the move to a new sim game. I have been spending some time today reading the new player archetypes that have been added to the league to go with the change that is made to the sim and I am looking forward to making the decision about how I will change the build of James in the future.
I think that the process of changing to a new sim engine could be something that is very important in the scouting conversations that I am going to have with teams so I will be working very hard to take some time to understand what it is that I want to gain from the new engine and how I am planning on using it to make the most out of the career that I am starting in the league!
I wanted to end this article by saying that I was very excited in the update that I made last week to have reached the DSFL TPE cap with so much time still remaining in the season! I am told that this is not something that happens very often which makes it very exciting for me to be able to do! I am told that the amount of TPE that I have earned so far could lead to me having some of the most that anyone has had by the time that the draft takes place which is also very exciting for me!
I will be working even harder than usual to make sure that I earn as much TPE as I possibly can between now and the day that the draft is taking place so that I can see how much I can really accomplish. It is a moment that is sad and happy as my first season in the league has not much time left, but it has been a very fun experience for me to learn about the ISFL and spend my first full season in the league, so I cannot wait to see what this season will allow me to do in the future and the way that I can use it to build future success for James!
The Buccaneers has been a great first home in the league for James so far and I am hoping that he will be able to pay back the things that they have taught him during the final games of the season and the playoff games that he is going to play if the team is able to qualify.
