*Week 2 Power Rankings - tlk742 - 08-03-2017

I started the power rankings for the week, so here I am with week 2’s power rankings.
For those curious, the Wraiths are #1 on the index power rankings.

A power rating indicates that if two teams face off on neutral ground, the higher power ranking should win, does it hold? It's why we play the game.

One thing to note, 3 of the 4 winners from last week played at home.
1. YKW Yellowknife Wraiths (2-0) ?+1
The Wraiths played a close game against the up-and-coming Sabercats. The defense didn’t perform as well as last week, but 3 sacks and a safety is nothing to be disappointed in. The biggest question in Yellowknife is now how to throw the ball to the four hungry pass catchers and how on earth they are going to stop the run as they face Boss Tweed next week in Colardo. #pressuremakesdiamonds

2. ARI Arizona Outlaws (2-0) ?-1
The heck is an offense? The Outlaws have basically gone to the point where the defense is attempting to drag King Bronko back to the Ultimus. 3 Interceptions coupled with the lowest YPC of any lead running back means that either everyone is undervaluing the Liberty’s defense or the offense for the Outlaws is not very good.

3. SJS San Jose Sabercats (1-1) ?+1
The Sabercats are good. There, I said it. Their run game is nuts, where Durden got 100 yards and put up a 4.8 Average against the kind of weak Wraiths run defense. Hunt did not put up a turnover and the 3 sacks against a strong defensive line are nothing to gawk at either.

4. COL Colorado Yeti (1-1) ?+1
Giving up just a field goal is an amazing feat. Remembering that it is against the Legion makes it impressive nonetheless but not as impressive. That said, the offense was firing on all cylinders and the team’s offensive line still seems to be sponsored by I-HOP.

5. BALBaltimore Hawks (0-1) ?+1
Broadway had a game racking up 1 deflected pass, an interception and a safety. The line didn’t let up a sack and Farlane was strong on the ground. 3 tackles were given up for a loss and the offense couldn’t get a touchdown in the air, but the ball security was quite strong and their kicking and punting unit made it possible to win by a strong defense rather than a good offense.

6. OCO Orange County Otters (0-2) ?-3
The Otters may bounce back yet. They’re heading back to Orange County this week to face the Liberty. But until then, they’ve given up a close loss to the Outlaws and have shown their offense is running just as well as Arizona’s. Maybe they bounce back, but 13/27 and a 2:1 INT to TD ratio makes Mike Boss have to wonder if there will be a top flight QB in the draft that may take his place.

7. LVL Las Vegas Legion (1-1) ? 0
Did you know that Bercovic is leading the league in interceptions? He has 5 so far. That means 2.5 interceptions per game. In his defense, when 4 members of the team who are supposed to block for him each give up a sack, Bercovic is running for his life half the game anyways. That said, the run defense is still really strong and if the legion can shore up their offensive line as the season progresses and the team gets more in rhythm, they could be in a really strong place headed into the draft.

8. PHI Philadelphia Liberty(0-2) ? 0
Fox North is the only bright spot, and maybe the liberty has that untapped potential for a late season run, but right now they are not looking like it. Here’s the play that sticks out that really defines how the Liberty play. North gets a 30 yard pass, and drags the cornerback with him for 20 or so yards. The Liberty are knocking on the end zone at the 25 yard line. Over the next 3 plays, the following happens, they gain 3 yards, and then lose 13 to two consecutive sacks followed by a 35yd punt. Had they scored, the Liberty would have been in the lead. Bennett gave up 3 sacks, but the rest of the line didn’t help either.

What do you mean the defense didn't perform as well? The offense had two turnovers, giving the Cats great field position, and we only allowed one TD.

We cannot stop the run to save our lives.

But we can stop the pass without really trying. And we can hold that end zone pretty well.

True our redzone D is great, I'm just still a little skeptical. because we performed better week 1 than week 2.

First off, we allowed one less point. Second, TWICE SJ got the ball in field goal range (our 37 and our 20) based on offensive turnovers. Third, motherfucking safety (2 pts AND a turnover). I don't think we were better week one unless you are factoring a stronger Colorado offense, which is fair. Personally, I think defense won us this game.
