We'll Be Back![/div] [div align=\\\"center\\\"] ![]() °•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•° Game Film/Dialogue Thoughts/Flashbacks Actions °•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•° *enters the hotel room, throwing the bags on the king sized bed, got the nice 50 inch TV, view overlooking the city, nothing worth complaining about* Good ol' Denver. Game film, room service, and then video games! Actually, scratch that last one. Plenty of time for games. I gotta see if the boys wanna head to Stoney's later on tonight. *sits on the bed and sends a text out to the Wraiths' teammates saying 'Stoney's tonight at 10, Im buying!' then opens my backpack and pulls out my tablet (Microsoft Surface Pro 4), pressing the selection on the home screen, making the first game of the regular season for the Wraiths appear* Hmm.. Hoped for a repeat of what I did in the preseason against the Yeti. Didn't exactly turn out that way. Tiernan turned his game up against me, couldn't shake him off like a bad hangover. Gotta hit those routes stronger and more precise for the future. Don't need any more games like these. One positive is that I didn't put my team in bad situations. Only two targets but I did what I could with them. Orosz played about as perfect of a game as I've seen any quarterback performed so far in this league. It helps when you got amazing receivers like Garden, Smallwood and West. I'm not nothing to sneeze at either. This offense is a blowout waiting to happen. Big Bubba and Eric Kennedy knocking fools down too. Offensive Line including myself dropping lineman and linebackers like flies. Archie knocks in two field goals, to keep us from being scoreless, team didn't do the best at finishing drives, but points are points, the game is still early. *flicks the screen to get to halftime in this game, score 7-6 at this point* And.. this is where the turn up comes for us. Orosz to Garden from nine yards out. Four minutes later, Damian gets a five yard TD reception. Then they start roaring back with a Tweed TD run and Bojo does what Bojo does going into the fourth- *hears my notification tone go off, pauses the tape and checks my phone, replys to a text from one of my longtime friends that he's rooting for me back in Georgia, I replied back with a grateful but semi-short response, then reading my messages from 9 of my teammates saying that they're gonna be there, which made me do my signature fist pump. Trent Bender said he was gonna get some sleep, which forced me to reply "Laaaaaame."* Okay, our defense starts locking up, LB core coming in their own, Cush and Lindarius making some big plays for us. Bork Laser stuffing Tweed on multiple occasions. Dermot ain't nothing to mess with. After we force them to punt, Smallwood puts in some major work, charging through big chunks of real estate. Then Josh Garden does it again with another TD make the for the mini dagger. I was open on that play but I'll let it slide this time. After that, the Yeti drive and drive, penalties by us keep the drive going and then Noble tries a pass to Gucci and Marcus "Weapon X" Kane seals it with an interception for the true dagger. Final score is 27-17. Overall, it was a pretty damn good game for us. We locked up when we needed to and got the dub. Can't complain about too much if it results in a win. *clicks the 'NEXT' button on the touch screen as the next game begins to load, I check my phone to see if anything is happening with the Jaguars, nothing to note, Fournette still beasting, defense looking stellar, so far so good. No injuries that I don't already know of. Bortles is meh. So many injuries around the league though, seems like Im seeing "Torn ACL" everywhere on this site. When I hear the game film play, I turn my eyes back to the screen* Alright, the drama riddled Saberkitties in week number two. I snagged a number from one of those cheerleaders during pre game workouts. Hung out after the game and got some late night breakfast at her place. She really was a challenge. I wasn't expecting her to be that good. She was a straight beast. Hey, you never know how good someone really is until you play them in Madden 17. Damn, those Steelers. Never know, might need to lock this one up.. Focus, Ricky. Focus! Alright, Sabercats coming to Yellowknife for a battle. Not too much to report for the first half, mostly a field goal battle between Laces and Booter and missed opportunities by both teams. The Sabercats coming up on top 9-3 at half time. There was one sequence that stood out in my mind: We needed seven yards for the first down and continue our drive. Orosz threw it to me and I caught it and got as much as I could. Clee Hardrool took me down before I can add more to the run, but I got 8 yards, which resulted in a first down. I did my normal first down celebration while looking in his direction. Hardrool just nodded and moved on. Not even a few minutes into the second quarter, Hardrool forced a fumble on Garden and recovered his own fumble. he then stole my celebration and looked me in my eye while he did it. I grinned and nodded in his direction before heading to the sideline. I got new found respect for the man. I already knew he was a monster on the football field but if that play didn't confirm it, I don't know what would. The Wraiths' possessions in the first half consisted of a fumble, a field goal by Booter, a punt, and a interception by Ja Brill which got them in position for another field goal. Luckily for us, our defense allowed zero TDs to keep it close. It could have been much worse. Their defense played great against us. Up to this point I notched three catches and a couple of pancakes, making the most of my time on the field. The second half is where it got very interesting. We received the kickoff and immediately post up a TD to take the lead back, Garden bailed us out with a 28 yard catch on third and 17 that got us to the red zone and Big Bubba snagged his first TD reception of the year. Our defense does it again, keeping them with a little more than two minutes with the rock before giving it back to us. We start that drive by getting sacked by Noah Parker. The only thing they didn't take account for was Sir Checkers running up the seam. We needed 16, he gave us 17. The drive continues. Nine yards away after I caught another pass to convert the first down, we hit the red zone again! Three plays. West got us even closer, down to the two yard line. Then it goes downhill. Orosz had Nuck by himself on the check down but he muffs it. Next play, Orosz found Sir Checkers on the slant route, beautifully throw pass between the linebackers where only he could get it. Unfortunately, Darren was thinking about what kind of wings I plan on baking after the game. Whether they were baked, grilled or fried, they were gonna be dope! In other words, he dropped a TD pass as well. We will have to settle for three because of these mistakes. Gotta finish these drives off, that's one too many points left on the field. Going into the next drive, Bottles had an awesome catch and run for 16, then I wondered if Orosz will see me for opportunities like that this year. That was the only thing note worthy here. Three and out and it was our ball again. The defense is playing with a sense of urgency, I can dig it. We get the ball again and things are going smooth for us. Three first downs gets us to the edge of the red zone. That's when the hands became an issue again. Checkers dropped another one (DJ Khaled Voice). Next play, Garden couldn't hold on, getting his catch deflected by John Canton. On third down, Garden wanted to know the recipe of the sauce that goes on my wings, that allowed him to lose his focus at the task at hand, pun definitely intended. He drops it and we have to settle for a field goal by no other than the GOAT Kicker himself Archibald Booter. Boots and Cats (we got any house music fans in here) kicked it off and Diaz tripped on his shoe laces, making only four yards on the return to the twelve yard line. Not gonna lie, that was very VERY embarrassing. I couldn't stop laughing for the life of me on the sidelines. I'm still snacking on a baked lemon pepper chicken wing by the way. Ethan Hunt hung out in the pocket one second too long as Hampshireton rushes through for the sack. The next play, Jason Spearhead burns the O-lineman in front of him and catches Ethan slipping in the end zone, resulting in that old-fashioned two piece dinner, better known as a safety. We receive the ball back via the safety punt but our drive was cut short very abruptly when we Chris got blown up by the Mexican dish on the Sabercats (Enchilada Charlton). We got our revenge next drive thanks to Hampshireton coming through with his second sack on Ethan Hunt. After a failed drive filled with more drops, penalties (one of which by myself, could have swore I needed to be off the line of scrimmage, Matt James was mad he couldn't get another box of "Failadelphia" Snapbacks until next week and ended up tripping a linebacker out of spite) and a lackluster punt, the Sabercats pulled off a TD to bring them within two points. Wizard Stephen letting us know that he's still the man with the premier magic tricks. I bet he felt good getting a TD on the team that drafted him. At that point, the ball was in our court and time was on our side. If we get the first down, we win the game. Simple as that. Two plays later, we have a crucial play on third and five. Chris Orosz threw an amazing pass in double coverage to who else but the GOAT TE for six hefty yards, Ja Brill was unable to tackle me short of the marker. Not going to lie, this is probably the closest thing to a touchdown my whole career in the NSFL, so it was a big deal to me. We huddled up and got in the victory position (giving the Ball to Bubba) to run the rest of the clock out. Not sure why they didn't use any timeouts. That was pretty weird in my eyes. The clock hits zero and we come out on top with a final score of 18-16. All around sloppy game, execution was lacking but just like week one, we did enough to win, that's what counts in the record books. Overall, I had a better game than my week one version. No drops two weeks in a row, chain moving master, dropped four noobs on their asses, and the team comes out celebrating at the end. The offensive line was beasting and feasting, notching 25 pancakes to the opposing team's 19. Mat & Matt (Mat Akselsen and Matt James) stacked the most pancakes of f either team, bringing in 8 and 5 respectively. In turn helping Bubba have a great day rushing the football, 106 yards on 24 carries. The defense held their own in the second half. Ethan Hunt didn't pass 150 yards passing and only completed an average of three completions a quarter. That's spectacular. Offense needs a bounce back after missing too many red zone chances for seven but we moved the ball better than the SaberCats so we keep the increased the win total to two. Levon Novel did his best impression of Dikembe Mutumbo saying "No. No. Nooo!" as he notched four pass breakups. #1 Draft pick Dermot Lavelle held his opponents to less than 50 yards receiving, just another day for him. He's built for games like this. Boggs, Hansen, Kane, and Cushing led the way with tackles, combining for 23 tackles between the four of them. Speaking of the Sabercats, they brought the fight all of the way to the end. They mean business this year. That aura they brought to the table can be dangerous if harnessed correctly and I see them taking a hold of it very soon. Alright, I think that's enough for tonight, gotta get ready for the homies and the wangs! *tosses my tablet back into the backpack and gets up from the bed, after finishing the shower and getting dressed, I take the stroll over to Stoney's seeing the team waiting for me to get there, I sit at the bar with the rest of my #WraithsNation brethren* Aye, its y'all choice. What's first? The whiskey, the wings, or the women?! *Kevin Cushing raises his glass of Blue Label off the bar and points it towards me, a PYT (Pretty Young Thing for the non-Michael Jackson fans) in his lap* "The whiskey. Can't talk to the women without it." Stay Tuned For Part #2 Coming Soon!
