*Ranking Running Backs After Week 2 - Gwdaja - 08-03-2017

Week 2 of the NSFL regular season is in the books, so we've got more rushing stats to analyze. And you know I love my tasty rushing stats. Let's hold hands, drink the Kool Aid and jump over the edge, into the deep, rich world of running backs.

Week 2 Rushing Stats

Hawks
BAL

Darlane Farlane: 31 attempts, 92 rushing yards, 3 YPC, 1 rushing TD, 1 reception 0 receiving yards

Marcus Robinson: 4 attempts, 17 yards, 4.2 YPC, 1 reception, 4 receiving yards

The Hawks pounded the rock in Week 2 and even pulled out a win against the Orange County Otters. Farlane carried the load for 92 yards, and while his average wasn't too pretty, he picked up yards when it mattered, notched some key first downs and even added a really clutch touchdown which cemented the win for the Hawks. On special teams, he saw 69 yards, a solid total. His season total in rushing is at 197 yards now, so he's on track for a great season. Marcus Robinson once again did subtle but solid work as a backup, getting yards when it mattered.

Legion
LVL

Ardie Savea: 17 attempts, 52 rushing yards, 3.1 YPC

Kyle Cobb: 9 attempts, 34 rushing yards, 3.8 YPC, 1 reception, 9 receiving yards

Ouch. The Legion got stomped by the Yeti. It wasn't very pretty. On top of that, their rushing numbers took a dive for the worst. Savea struggled, but it's hard to lean on the run game when your quarterback throws 3 picks. Better luck next week on a clean slate.

Liberty
PHI

Omar Wright: 20 attempts, 77 rushing yards, 3.8 YPC

The Liberty need something to happen on offense, because right now they only have 2 players showing up every game - Fox North and Omar Wright. They're stars in their own right, but you can't win the offensive side of the ball with two players. Wright put up another strong game at 77 yards rushing, the lone wolf in the backfield yet again, and returned for 47 yards on special teams.

SaberCats
SJS

Jack Durden: 21 attempts, 100 rushing yards, 4.8 YPC, 2 receptions, 30 receiving yards

Denzel Diaz: 5 attempts, 23 rushing yards, 4.6 YPC

The SaberCats were oh so close to getting their second win in a row, but the Wraiths soiled that dream and beat them by 2 points. What a game. Let's talk about Jack Durden. His game impressed me more than any other running back in Week 2. If anyone was watching, the man could not be stopped. They should've kept feeding him, because he was running all over the Wraiths and picking up good chunks of yards every time he touched the ball. Diaz did good work on much fewer attempts than he had last week, but added 56 returns yards to his stat sheet as well.

Yeti
COL

Boss Tweed: 17 attempts, 62 rushing yards, 3.6 YPC, 1 reception, 2 receiving yards

K. O'Connell: 5 attempts, 16 rushing yards, 3.2 YPC, 1 receptions, 18 receiving yards

The Yeti put a damn whooping on the Legion in a 33-3 smackdown in their Week 2 matchup. While Tweed didn't nearly come close to his amazing week 1 performance, he still contributed a decent amount on the ground. Overall, they rushed way less this week, but they didn't really need to run much when Noble passed for 244 yards and 2 TD.

Wraiths
YKW

Bubba Nuck: 24 attempts, 106 rushing yards, 4.4 YPC, 3 receptions, 8 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Eric Kennedy: 1 attempts, 1 rushing yards, 1 YPC

What'd I tell ya??? I called it, Nuck was gonna bounce back this week after getting a pretty low average last week. He had a great game, 106 yards, 4.4 average and even contributed in the receiving numbers with a TD in that department. It seems Eric Kennedy is shrinking smaller and smaller into nothingness. Perhaps they are compressing him until he turns into a pearl, so Nuck can wear him around his neck for extra running back powers. It was a good week for Nuck to show up, and an exciting win against San Jose. Way to go, Bubba.

Otters
OCO

Leroy Jenkins: 19 attempts, 58 rushing yards, 3.1 YPC

Vick Bowers Jr.: 9 attempts, 35 rushing yards, 3.9 YPC, 1 receptions, 18 receiving yards

Otters saw an overall dip in rushing numbers in Week 2 and unfortunately lost their second matchup in a row. Jenkins and Bowers Jr. both had far less attempts than in the first game, as well as yards, but the Hawks frontmen were putting in work against them and were proving difficult to get past. Jenkins had a lower 58 yards, as compared to over 90 in Week 1, with a much lower average as well. The two headed beast should bounce back in the coming weeks.

Outlaws
ARI

Reg Mackworthy: 21 attempts, 74 rushing yards, 3.5 YPC, 1 rushing TD, 4 receptions, 12 receiving yards

Teez Tobin: 3 attempts, 8 rushing yards, 1 reception, 1 receiving yard

It was the week of lone wolf rushers facing off, as Mackworthy went head-to-head with Omar Wright. Both had solid games, and Mackworthy greatly improved on his Week 1 performance. 74 yards and a rushing TD is good by any standards, and a welcome stat line in any given week. Teez Tobin got some carries, but does anyone even know who that is? I've heard his name one time, ever. Maybe. Oh and Mackworthy had 52 return yards. Good overall game. Even though they lost.

After Week 2, things fluctuated, but some of the guys who already did well still improved upon their game, while others fell in numbers. Now that it's been 2 weeks, we can see season totals, which will continue to rack up as the year goes on, and that's always fun to follow. It seems that Season 1 rushing champ Nuck is still holding that top spot, with Rookie Darlane Farlane close behind at number 2. Durden is surprisingly leading running backs in total scores, but his overall performance this year is surprising in general. Let's see if he can keep it up. This is a fun year for running backs and I'm frothing at the mouth for more stats. I guess you could say I have a problem. Let me know if I messed anything up! My eyes start to cross after looking at so many numbers. Go Hawks!
