*Time To Celebrate! - treant - 01-11-2021 It is safe to say that it has been a whirlwind week for James Wilkinson, and it is going to be another whirlwind week to come for him too! There are a lot of interesting things that have taken place during the season, none of them more than the fact that he helped his team win a DSFL Championship game against the team he had played for in the past, the Portland Pythons! After a season for the Bondi Beach Buccaneers that had so many ups and downs it was a dream come true for the team last night when they won the Ultimini trophy. The last season had been a very tough battle for everyone involved and they were not the best team in the league during the regular season, but they were able to win games when it mattered and they found that they were going to be the team that had the best seed when it came to playing in the playoffs. The Bondi Beach Buccaneers had finished the season with eight wins and 6 losses to their name. This was the best in the conference and it would mean that the team was going to be playing against the Norfolk Seawolves in the SFC Conference Championship game. The game was going to be played at home for the Buccaneers which would be a big help to the team’s morale because it meant they didn’t have to travel and would have the chance to play in front of their fans. The team did not let themselves down and proved that the Seawolves were no match for them as they scored 27 points and stopped their opponents from scoring any! The win was something that made the Buccaneers feel very confident and they believed that even though they were going to be the underdogs in the game that they played, they still had the chance to win it! The Utimini Championship game was to be played against the team who had been the best in the DSFL during the season, the Portland Pythons! The Pythons had a great team and had beaten every that they played apart from the Buccaneers who had won the game they played during the season at home. This meant that the team had confidence that they were going to be able to win the Ultimini game especially after how easily they had won in the Conference Championship! It had felt that everyone who was not a part of the team had written them off but the team were determined that they were going to show them why it was that they were wrong! The game did not begin in the way that the Buccaneers would have hoped it would and it was not long before they were losing by a seventeen point gap! It was looking to the team like the game was going to be lost but the Buccaneers were able to surprise everyone by stunning the Pythons and putting up 20 points to win the game and take home the trophy! It was a great moment for James to be able to share with his team and it was the perfect way to end his rookie season in the DSFL! James felt so happy for the players who had worked so hard this season and done something that not many people thought that they could! It could even be said that being the underdog team in the league meant that winning the Championship was even sweeter than it could have been otherwise! James has learnt a lot from the opportunity he had to win this season and is planning to apply the lessons that he has learned when it comes time for him to play in the ISFL and try to win more Championships there! If it was not exciting enough for James to become a champion this week there is also the very exciting thing for him to look forward to this week in the form of the ISFL Draft! The Draft has been the thing that James has looked forward to the most for all of the season and he has worked very hard to try and show the teams in the ISFL that he is someone who is worth them adding to their squad! I believe that I have had the chance to speak to all of the teams in the league apart from one exception and I have enjoyed all of the conversations that I have had with the scouts! They have made the process a fun and enjoyable time to spend and I have also been able to learn a lot about the league and the goals that I can set for my players career because of the things that they have told me which has been very helpful! I know that the league has drafts take place ahead of time here so I wanted to say that to the teams that might be thinking about using a draft pick to select James Wilkinson that I will do everything I can to help make your team better! I am someone who is much more motivated by team success than individual success and the team that drafts me will be getting a loyal player who they can rely on until they don’t need my player any more! I hope that the hard work I have put in to earning TPE and creating media so far has made teams think that I am a player who has some potential but if not, I will make sure that I work even harder after the draft to show that this is the case! There is not much more to say than to thank everyone in the league for making my first full season such an enjoyable one! The community of the ISFL is very fun to be involved in and I can’t wait to spend a lot more time in the league in the seasons that are ahead of me! I feel very lucky to be a part of the league and to have had the fun that I have had this season. I can’t wait to see what is ahead for me and to enjoy the challenges in the future!
