*RBs in dire need of help in the new sim - TeyonSchavari - 01-26-2021

I am no expert in the sim or any of the bells or whistles that go into it. In fact, I'd be really surprised if anyone could claim they were an expert in the new sim. With all that being said, however, you do not have to be an expert in the sim to see that running backs, in this sims current state, have been 'nerfed' way too much compared to previous seasons.

Case study: The NY Silverbacks RBs:

Yes, I picked my own player/team to examine because, well, why the hell not, its the reason why I'm so passionate about this in the first place. Lets take note of this now: In S26, Captain Rogers was backup RB to Ashley Owens. Lets take a look at the stats of both players from S26 and the S27 preseason:

Ashley Owens:
S26: 66.06 yds/gm, 0.5 TDs/gm  --Preseason: 75.25 yds/g, 0.75 TDs/gm
S27: --Preseason: 17.5 yds/gm, 0.5 TDs/gm

Captain Rogers:
S26: 57.00 yds/gm, 0.5 TDs/gm  --Preseason: 57.00 yds/g, 0.25 TDs/gm
S27: --Preseason: 44.5 yds/gm, 0.25 TDs/gm

Seriously, look at this. At similar levels of TPE, the starter from S26 to S27 has a considerable drop off in production, as Captain Rogers continues to gain TPE. The backup RB has a MASSIVE drop off in stats compared to a backup of similar TPE from the season before after hitting regression. Overall, the amount that stats go down from one running back to the next is insane. There is no way that going from backup RB to primary RB should yield worse results in any sort of fashion in this league.

Case study 2: Jamar Lackson
S26: 68.375 yds/gm, 0.31 TDs/gm  --S26 preseason: 70 yds/gm, 0.25 TD/gm
S27: -- preseason 65.75 yds/gm, 0.5 TDs/gm

Not the best example to rest my case, but one still curious. Jamar Lackson has not entered regression as of yet, however it is pretty clear to see that he is not any better and arguably worse than he was last season, despite earning more TPE than the previous season and having additional attributes to buy to boot.

Rookie case study: Ace Savage
S27 preseason: 7 yds/gm

YES, you read that correctly. 7 yards PER GAME. I don't care if you are a rookie. I don't care if you have a low TPE compared to the rest of the league. 7 yards per GAME is complete farce in any sort of football league. You could grab my scrawny ass in real life and get more than 7 yards in a game on average. This is utter bullshit and should be a sign that RBs are not nearly as important as they should be.

In conclusion, as a running back in the current state of the sim, I'm very worried about the viability I have on a team. I'm sure future running backs will have the same concerns that I do. All that I'm saying is, with the exception of a few outlier performances, running backs will have an extremely tough time competing to be an asset on their respective teams at the sims current state and have no shot at breaking any records currently held at the position given the status of the new sim. Best of luck to all of the current RBs in the league - may you have the season you alwyas dreamed of even with the odds so heavily against you.

Nakamura is averaging about 1700 yards a season in my tests, so it's not so bad. This game is, however, much more punitive towards running backs with lower TPE than the last sim. Wide receiver is the same way: higher TPE translates to much more success.

How big was your dataset for this out of curiousity?

Makes sense. In that case, see you in my next create! Because had I known this, I wouldn't have been nearly as lax on my earning. In the previous sim, I was also projected at 1700+ yards in sim testing this coming season, a big reason why I signed where I did last season. I guess its my fault for believing the hype. Good luck in the new sim everyone!

Best solution is just to give everyone F speed tbh

I'm probably not the most reliable person you can ask for this stuff, but I basically just looked at all of this preseason's games and saw that, aside from a couple stellar games, running backs were performing much worse than previous seasons that I've looked at, specifically last preseason and full season as a whole

What a time to be starting my career as RB this season. Guess I can kiss my HoF chances goodbye before I even played a game lol

Most teams are running meme strats so probs wouldn't put too much stock into it tbh

Oh no, I’ve somehow gotten worse after being worse last season
