On the Topic of Baltimore's GM Search - Jiggly_333 - 02-03-2021 DO NOT GRADE Just so no one thinks this is some dumb cash grab (I’ll do one of those when this is all over), I don’t want this to be graded. But I am putting this in Media so people see. I have now been involved in the only two occasions in ISFL history where both GMs of a team have stepped down and HO has taken control of the team. The first time did not go very well for me personally, but what I did has gone very well for the team itself. So I’m not going to even talk about the circumstances for why the Hawks lost both GMs in the span of a week, although eventually it’s something that needs to be explained, especially to a team that didn’t have any problem with either of them. Instead, I just want to remind HO of a precedent that was set almost a year ago now. Users/Players have rights. If they are on a team, they choose to either be on that team or they demand a trade. What comes after is a bit hazy, but at the very least: Players have a say over who is their leader. Back during the first time, you sent us a GM. We didn’t think he’d fit with our needs and you allowed us, however reluctantly, to choose our own fate. The GM that we rejected has been a very sporadic user since then. The GMs that we, the people, voted on have turned the team into an Ultimus contender. I didn’t go through hell and take the Game of Thrones Walk of Shame to see you try to pull another fast one like that again. The players on a team have a right to choose who will lead them. We can have another extremely tense shit-storm of a situation again, or you can just go with the intent from the start for a system that is fair to the players. I appreciate that you officially announced interim GMs from the start that are already on the team, but you worded it like you were going to appoint a GM yourselves anyway. Let the team choose who’s in charge because they’re the ones who are going to have to live with them. My solution: You can send a pre-approved list of candidates to the interim GMs, who will parse it down, and then let the team vote. That’s what we did in Chicago and while it looked like a shit-storm to everyone else because of the chaos that had to be created to get the right to vote, it allowed the team to be comfortable with who would be in charge. In a normal situation, the GM of a team searching for a Co-GM or a replacement GM for themself would already be in contact with their team about who they like. The system that HO attempted to implement was not transparent at all, involved next to 0 communication with the team, and was confusing for everyone involved. I stopped that from becoming the precedent because I believed in users’ rights. I am not throwing my name in the hat for this, I am done trying to be a GM. I don't even want to be involved in the process other than getting to vote because I know that if I touch anything I'll get hit with some sort of punishment. But I’m not going to stand by and watch HO try to force another team to just sit around take it. PS: I actually sent a message to Bex about a month ago about having a conversation on how to properly set up the rules for another situation just like this. She ignored me. Ever thought this was the result of a rejection and having his shit drawn through the mud? 4 - You didn't have to go 'through this hell again'. You've chosen to by posting this media and making outrageous comments in announcements threads. 5 - You 'I don't even want to be involved in the process' yet you post this media bringing you extremely involved in this. 6 - Last Sentence. Classy. RE: On the Topic of Baltimore's GM Search - slothfacekilla - 02-03-2021 lol RE: On the Topic of Baltimore's GM Search - Southie - 02-03-2021 Just because the shift manager gets fired at Burger King doesnt mean the Fry Cook can start doing interviews. That's not the world works. "Oh man, Our CEO retired. Time for the janitorial staff to hit up Monster.com." RE: On the Topic of Baltimore's GM Search - Memento Mori - 02-03-2021 I don't like seeing Tim dismissed as a sporadic user and this justifying the way you treated him. He had an IRL situation suddenly come up so he retired his player. You didn't and couldn't have seen that coming, that's not why you rejected him. When this situation was resolved, he came back as an agent for a season, was active, and then upon deciding being an agent wasn't fun he recreated. His current player is one of the higher earners in his class. That's such an unnecessary and ill-informed shot to take. RE: On the Topic of Baltimore's GM Search - SDCore - 02-03-2021 So, just so it's transparent. We are discussing every option with the interim GMs. Right now we have a plan in place to take applications, both internally and externally, we want to make sure that we hire the best person possible for the job, not just the best person internally for the job, though they might be. It's Head Office's job to make sure the hire is the best for both BAL and the League. With that in mind we are working very closely with them to make sure the locker room is heard and that we are also putting everyone in the best position. I will say one thing, the Bex comment is very unnecessary and is a good way to have any good points you said ignored. From context, since you didn't provide any of your own, was from a media piece, where you giving unsolicited feedback, where none was asked for. Throwing shade at the Commissioner, while you might find it apropos or pertinent in this situation, is wildly inappropriate. Please think about that as well as any "gun gifs" threatening people before posting them, would be my advice. RE: On the Topic of Baltimore's GM Search - RotticusScott - 02-03-2021 Just going by this post I now think we shouldn't let Baltimore have any say in the new GM's lol RE: On the Topic of Baltimore's GM Search - ckroyal92 - 02-03-2021 Weren't you trying to leave Baltimore?
