*TMo's Casual Guide on Becoming A Bonafide Casual Earner - TMosura - 03-31-2021

so casual that this article is probably shorter than some of the media posted recently!

Oh, hi! So, you're a user with a player coming into their 3rd or 4th season in the ISFL. You're also playing a relatively well-needed or underappreciated position, that's nice. And oh, your team is doing relatively okay with morale not plummeting? That's great! Wait, what do you mean not everything's great. What? Your TPE is lower than some of the players on your team? You feel like you're slowly being left behind because of your busy schedule or personal matters? Oh buddy, if my 701 TPE coming into my 3rd season in the ISFL isn't proof that being a casual earner is effin' great, I don't know what to tell you! Wait, you're still not convinced that being a casual earner is fun? Fine, fine. I'll give you some of the things you can do to pass the time and not worry too much about your player's on-field product. After all, you're not just managing a player, you're also managing yourself as a user too! You need some RnR for you to feel comfortable in the league. So what are the things you can do? Well...

Team Locker Room!
No seriously, have you ever consider at least being active in your team's Locker Room servers? Yeah, I mean actively engaging in a positive and constructive manner. You have? Only a bit, huh... Well, that's a start! After all, they are your teammates and GM! Don't forget about your old DSFL Locker Room as well. The bond you make even if you're only a part of the team for one season can be quite a useful asset; you never know the connections you made can help you further in the league status ladder, even if you're not really performing as much on the field! Who knows the player you talk to today, can be a GM or an HO member tomorrow! And of course, that leads me to...

War Rooms!
Oh boy. The War Room often is the most important aspect of a team's internal workings. The conversations to be talked about, the decisions to be made that can affect your team; all live in the War Room! You can gain so much information and learn from more experienced users on how to conduct yourselves on many of the league's topics and matters. And of course, this is prime material for you to grasp and consume if you want to be... I don't know a GM? Rookie Mentor? HO Member? Sim Team? The possibility is endless!

What's that? You're asking if there's anything to do that's not necessarily team-related? Well boy do I have the answer for you.

League Media!
Are you secretly a novelist or a fanfiction writer? Are you secretly a talented graphic designer or artist? Or do you like to talk about random stuff in a prolonged amount of time? Then the League Media is perfect for you! You can host a podcast! You can create an assortment of league-related graphics! Or you can even write about stuff like I'm doing right now... wait. Oh well, think about it! You can tell about yourself more by writing media, both your player and you as a user! Or create graphics both hilarious and cool on your player (or others)! Constant repeating obvious information above, League Media allows you to channel your creativity into something league-related. Trust me, you'll never get bored once you get your foot into this entire mess of a situation.

Right... what else... What? What about the folks running the teams and the league? The HO members? The GMs? I mentioned it before? Oh right, right.

League Jobs!
Ever feel like you want to roleplay as a general manager of a professional American Football team and make bad draft decisions? Or do you want to be the ones controlling the strings high from above? Creating graphics for the league streams? Grading medias and graphics from fellow users? Why league jobs are here for you! If you want to immerse yourself further into the world of the International Simulation Football League or the Developmental Simulation Football League, this is the perfect job for you! Be the GM that builds properly through the draft and wise spending on free agency and contract signing! Be the HO member that allows for extra permission for users in voting (please don't)! It's all under your control to choose!

See, it's fun! What? Why am I telling you all of this? Well, in the end, some of us aren't dedicating a huge amount of time to the league. To be the best player, etc. etc. But, as a casual earner, there are still places for us to be. You might not be the best player out there on the field, but off the field as a user? You can make a tremendous amount of impact. The connection you build with fellow members and your teammates is invaluable. They'll help you, even as a lesser TPE earner. Anyways, go out there and have fun! You earned your spot here, so don't waste it!

What? The article is too short? Yeah well, maybe I'll develop it more one day. Eh, who knows. Thanks for reading, though!

Great Article Tmo!  Casual earners most definitely have a place here and can certainly make a huge in all the ways mentioned.

This is a great article! There is definitely too much weight placed on being a, "max earner" in the league. Moderate and casual earners still have a place, and really are needed to help field a team. There's this belief that with the new sim you can't be productive at all as a casual earner, but that's just plain wrong.

As this article says, as long as your casually earning, most teams will gladly have you if you have a good locker room presence and are active in other ways. Newer users will sometimes come in with the expectation to be a max earner and then push themselves too hard, too fast, and end up burning out. That's not good for anyone!
