ISFL S28 Hall of Fame Class - infinitempg - 04-21-2021

ISFL S28 Hall of Fame Ballot Results ISFL

As a quick summary, in order to be inducted into the Hall of Fame a player needs to be voted in by 2/3 of voters - if they receive 1/3 of the votes they will stay on the ballot for the next season.

As was passed in the S23 Rules Summit, we have formed a Hall of Fame Committee! The committee was made up of Ben, bwestfield, daybe, iamslm22, JuOSu, manicmav36, nunccoepi, PigSnout, and run_cmc!

Note: I want to note that a few people have asked me wondering how to request someone be nominated to the ballot in the future. Please reach out to a member of the Hall of Fame Committee and explain to them why you think someone should be nominated!

With these nine, our requirements are 6 votes to be inducted and 3 votes to stay on the ballot.

- ISFL Player Hall of Fame -

As a special note this season, it was brought to the Committee's attention that players who were auto-retired and did not create a thread in the Retirement forum did not make previous years’ ballots. This is our attempt to add all those who were missed to the current ballot. Players who were added to this ballot will be marked with a †.

Now, I'm pleased to introduce our newest members of the International Simulation Football League Hall of Fame! Welcome to the Hall of Fame:
Alex Selich† (@Tomen), Johnny Snuggles (@manicmav36), Franklin Armstrong (@moonlight), and Mako Mendonca (@Mooty99)!

Alex Selich† - @Tomen - LB
ARI S11-S13
YKW S14-S21
HON S22
COL S23

†Alex Selich was part of the group of players missed by auto-retirement. He would have been first eligible for the ISFL Hall of Fame in S27.

Alex Selich was taken 2nd overall in the S11 ISFL Draft by the Arizona Outlaws, though he would go on to spend most of his illustrious career with the Yellowknife Wraiths. He burst on to the scene immediately as a rookie, winning both Defensive Rookie of the Year and Linebacker of the Year in S11. After being traded to the Wraiths prior to S14, Selich's proved that he was here to stay - winning Linebacker of the Year in S14 and S15 as well as Defensive Player of the Year in S14. Selich would go on to appear in 7 Pro Bowls, including 6 appearances in his first 7 seasons, however his induction to the Hall of Fame rests on the laurels of his incredible statistical performance over his 13 season career. Selich finished his career with the most tackles in ISFL History at 1,275, only recently being passed by Quenton Bode. Selich also finished with the most career forced fumbles of any player with 20. While Selich had frequent heartbreak in the Ultimus with the Yellowknife Wraiths, his accomplishments on the field meant he was honored as a member of the ISFL 25th Anniversary's First Team.

Johnny Snuggles - @manicmav36 - CB
YKW S13-S24

Johnny Snuggles was taken by the Yellowknife Wraiths as the first overall pick in the S13 ISFL Draft. The Wraiths lifer was a cornerstone of the vaunted Yellowknife defense and helping the team appear in 5 Ultimus games, winning the S23 Utlimus over the Austin Copperheads. Snuggles made an immediate impact for his team, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in S13 and he appeared in 5 Pro Bowls over his 12 year career. While his trophy case is not stuffed at the brim, Snuggles was a premiere pass defender, snuffing out more passes than almost any other player in league history - finished 2nd in career Passes Defensed at 196. Snuggles' draping of wideouts was most prominent in the postseason, where he has both the career (22 PDs) and single postseason (8) Passes Defensed Records. Snuggles was also an elite returner, finishing #9 in career Punt Return Yards, #2 in postseason career Punt Return Yards, and #5 in postseason career Kick Return Yards. Snuggles' elite level of cornerback play immortalized him in the ISFL 25th Anniversary Second Team.

Franklin Armstrong - @moonlight - QB
OCO S15-S24

Franklin Armstrong, drafted 28th overall in the S15 ISFL Draft by the Orange County Otters, is not only one of the best draft steals of all time but arguably one of if not the best player in ISFL history. After spending two seasons in the DSFL, Armstrong was called up in S17 to continue the legendary Otters dynasty and boy did he. Armstrong's Otters finished as three-time Ultimus Champions, completing the third three-peat in league history from S17 through S19. Armstrong changed the game as a mobile game manager quarterback, able to both efficiently march the offense through the air as well as torch the defense on the ground. The three-time league MVP and 2x Quarterback of the Year currently stands 7th in career Passer Rating and 8th in career Passing Average, as well as 3rd in career Rush Average. Armstrong's S21 season was the most efficient of all time, finishing with the best passer rating of all time at 109.3. Armstrong's legs were a key part of his greatness, and this is accentuated by the fact he holds the 2nd spot in single-game rushing yards at 221. Since he was always in the playoffs, Armstrong holds an unreal amount of postseason career and season records, including being #3 in post season career Pass Yards and Pass Touchdowns. Frequently called the GOAT by his peers, Franklin Armstrong was honored as a First Team member of the ISFL 25th Anniversary Team.

Mako Mendonca - @Mooty99 - RB
AUS S16-S24

Mako Mendonca was taken 8th overall in the S16 ISFL Draft by the Austin Copperheads, where he played his whole career. While he never won a positional award, Mendonca completed a somewhat under-the-radar career with 6 Pro Bowl appearances. Despite this, Mendonca was one of the premiere flex backs and bell cows in league history - finishing 10th in career rush attempts. Mendonca also excelled as a return specialist for the Copperheads, including the ninth best single-game Kickoff Return performance in league history. Mendonca's flexibility as a slot receiver and pure running back immortalized him on the ISFL 25th Anniversary's Second Team. He also goes into the Hall of Fame as the first member of the Austin Copperheads as well as the first member of S16 to be inducted!

RE: ISFL S28 Hall of Fame Class - AdamS - 04-21-2021

It's incredibly disappointing to see Speculadora not receive a single vote. If that guy, with his history, and his reputation cannot manage a single user hall of fame vote, just close it up. No one's getting in. For the life of me I don't understand what kind of judgement it would take to come to this end.

Spec is a major major league user who's been around for a very long time, is already in the GM Hall of Fame (and is accounted by his harshest critics as a top 5 all time GM). He's helped develop a large number of users for the league and has held numerous jobs. Real Hall of Fames are less stringent than this. I just don't understand it. I would love to hear form a voter exactly what led them to vote no and exactly how anyone's supposed to receive a vote if Spec can't get one.

I just dont know about this place anymore. 3 and a half years and I'm looking on a league that's just filled to the brim with so much inflated seriousness that you'd think people were putting the ISFL on professional resumes and trying to get jobs with it. This is not that. This is...not fun. I dont know if I even want to be here anymore the way things are going.

Not a voter, but I think the reason spec isn't getting any recognition towards the User HOF is because the GM HOF was created specifically for someone like him. The dude is a legendary GM and these same 9 people unanimously put him in - plus he is the only unanimous inductee to the GM HOF. There is an argument to be made that he should be in the User HOF, but I think there is also a counter argument that the User HOF should be reserved for users who made a substantial improvement/commitment to the league structure or management as a whole. Someone like 37th who made the wiki, Dwyer and WC who were long time league commissioners, or TC who was a stalwart simmer and helped advance knowledge on the sim - they are all in. Personally, I think PDX should be in the User HOF because of his contributions with the S14 Prospect Bowl - something that a lot of the league-saving S15 class said really influenced them into staying and loving the league.

I don't think spec's dismissal from the User HOF ballot is a sign of inflated seriousness (I mean come on, Ben is on the committee) - I just think that the committee believes his contributions fit in with the GM HOF more.

Cool to see that maybe the all time GM records series resulted in a lot more nominations for GM HoF

I very much appreciate the sentiment (assuming this isnt a copypasta, I can never tell anymore) but I tend to agree that I don't belong in user HoF. I was good at GMing but I don't really think I contributed all that much to the league in general. Maybe it feels like I have because I've kinda just been around for a while now, but like I don't think I belong in the same HoF recognizing league contributions as infinite or others whove been inducted

You've missed one very important thing that User HoF voters have to take into account: spec is stinky
