Coming from the school of Hard knocks, Sal Ami feels he is prepared for the physicality of the next level. Only time will tell! We were able to catch up with him for an exclusive interview. Below are some of the highlights that came out of our time with the man they call “The Butcher.”

The Butcher was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He also has an affinity for paper. While he plans on having a long and successful football career, he hopes that when it is over and he is out of the game, that he can become the regional manager of a mid sized paper company.

Sal earned the nickname, “the butcher,” because of his love for fine meats. We asked him about what his favorite types of meats are, and he told us, sausages, steaks that are at least 16oz, and oddly, salami. Team mates love giving him a hard time about this. One fun fact about Sal Ami is that he has the highest cholesterol ever recorded for a living person in human history.

As a freshman in college, Sal had the will to be a great player, but did not have the discipline required. But he fell in love with two positions when he got his chance to play. Those positions are full back and tight end. During his freshman season, Sal ran a line backer over and the quarterback threw him a pass that he took all the way for a 99 yard touchdown. From there, the rest is history. He began running sprints and lifting more weights. His freshman year in college Sal weighed in at 453 pounds and couldn’t complete a 40 yard dash, due to the terrible shape he was in due to a bad diet and amount of beer he consumed. After that 99 yard touch down, he changed his ways (except for his love of meats) and began getting in better shape. By his last college game, Sal weighed in at just over 250 pounds and is expected to run a sub 4.2 40 yard dash at his pro day.

Sal has all the makings of a hall of fame tight end. The question now is, who is going to be lucky enough to get him?
