(S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble?
Complete the weekly Point Task to earn 3 TPE! All written responses must be at least 200 words. Graphic responses must show more effort than a text box on an unedited image.

Do not claim this TPE until it has been graded and posted to the S29 claim thread. This task is due next Sunday, June 6, at 11:59 ET. Have fun and get writing!

*Twist for this week! We will have two different prompts, one focused more on the character development portion of the league and one focused more on the results and standings. You are free to pick any one of them.

Written option (Complete 1):
- We're now a quarter of the way through the season and the league is abuzz with with both surprises and disappointments through the first four games. Which team do you think is currently overachieving and which team do you think still has a chance to bounce back as the season progresses and why?

- A quarter of the way through the season your player receives a letter requesting they show up for a young fan's birthday party. Do they go? If so, what do they do to make the day memorable for the child? If not, why?

Graphic option (Complete 1):

- Create a graphic of a memorable comeback moment for your team or player. Be it a clutch play in a key game or the team letting off some steam to refocus for the rest of the season.

- Create a graphic of your player attending a fan's birthday party. Make sure to put some effort into it, remember that this is for PT credit.

Affiliate claims from SHL, PBE, and GOMHL are accepted; link directly to your post and add a note if your username is different there. Make sure the week of the affliate PT matches with the week of this point task.

Written and graphic responses must be posted solely in this thread and not for additional media credit. Also, if you try to build your word count by being super repetitive and rambling on, you will not get full credit. If you are caught plagiarizing/stealing someone else’s work, you will be punished as HO sees fit, including the potential loss of TPE or money. Do your own work please.

For the overachieved, I have to go with the Yeti. The Yeti were 8-8 last season and were certainly not considered a top team in the league. However, now that we are done with Week 4, and the Yeti have emerged to 3-1, I can safely say they overachieved most people's expectations, including my own. The Yeti have not had an easy way to 3-1 as well, as they have taken out Sarasota and Berlin. They did have that nasty loss to the Butchers, but any team can have an off game. While they may not stay this consistent, and will maybe fall to another neutral record, their start this season has been great.

For the team who can bounce back in the upcoming 3/4s of the year, I have to give it to the Butchers. The Butchers currently sit at 1-3 now that we have ended Week 4. However, this does not necessarily mean they are a bad team. For example, they did beat the Yeti, and they beat them soundly too. The games they have lost have been fairly close, 2 of them being a one-possession game. In Week 1, their defense failed them against the Philadelphia Liberty and gave up 34 points, even though the offense put up 31. On the contrary, in week 3 their OFFENSE failed them. Their defense held OCO (Who is 3-1) to NINE points. However, their offense could only put up a measly 6 points.  This team has shown it can be great this season, and that it just needs to play consistently. I could see them making a big run later in the season if they can get their offense and defense squared.

With a quarter of the season already gone by, let's take a look at how things have played out. Over in the ASFC, not much of a surprise with Arizona sitting in first place. In terms of a surprise, I guess you could look at the San Jose Sabercats who sit in second place having gone 3-1, posting a strong start to the season. If season predictions are anything to go by, this start by the Sabercats is a bit of a surprise given than many had tipped the the Sabercats to miss the playoffs in Season 29. As far as disappointments, Austin has gotten off to a slow start having gone 1-3 to start the season but it's only been 4 games but with 12 to play still they could very well play themselves into the playoffs for Season 29.

Over in the NSFC, Colorado has gotten off to a nice start to sit in first place in the division with a record of 3-1. While they weren't expected to be bad by any means and were certainly contenders to make the playoffs, sitting on top of the division could perhaps be considered to be a bit of a surprise. While 2-2 isn't poor start by any means, it's been somewhat disappointing start for Berlin given that many had tipped the Fire Salamanders to finish on top of conference with the leagues best record. Although they sit in 3rd place, occupying the last playoff spot in the NSFC, there's plenty of games left top play and coupled with their talented roster, Berlin could very well finish the season the season sitting in first place in the NSFC.

After his first game with the Portland Pythons, Calvin Hobbes received a letter form a young fan asking him to attend their birthday party. Calvin jumped on the opportunity as a way to give back to the fan and the community in general. In order to make the day the best birthday party possible, Calvin brings a signed game ball, a customized jersey for the fan signed by the entire Pythons roster. Additionally he gives the family VIP tickets for the next home game against Dallas Birddogs. The little fan also gets a full 3 day stay with the team where Calvin will show them around, the fan will join (and if they want) run a practice. The fan will also be allowed to join for the run in for the game against the Birddogs.

During the practice session the fan will be a replacement QB and will throw balls at all the Pythons Wide Receivers.

The day before the game there will be a scheduled tour of the arena, where the young fan get to see all the teams facilities and get a dedicated seat to join the team for the warmup and preparations for the game. Additionally the fan will be allowed to run the pump up music leading up to the game.

RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Crunk - 05-31-2021

Tayshawn Crunk does not like kids, and he does not like birthday parties. The last birthday party he had was when he was 5 years old, and he was scared of the clown his parents hired. I say hired, it was one of his dads friends in a rented clown suit. He was not very clown-y at all. All the balloon animals he attempted to make just looked like dicks.

Anyway, this left him with a dilemma. Crunk loves the Outlaws fans, but he couldn't think of anything that he would rather do less than attend the sixth birthday party of a young fan from whom he received an invitation. He considered pretending he had never received the letter, but how would they know that? It just looks like a no-show. He thought about calling the number on the RSVP and saying he was busy, but Crunk is not a good liar.

The morning of the party came. Crunk got into his car... but he just couldn't do it. So he rang Outlaws linebacker L'Gazzy Burfict, and promised to take him to Buffalo Wild Wings if he would take his place and make up an excuse. Burfict agreed.

Though the children were disappointed initially, this soon disappeared when Burfict let them ride him round like a horse. Everyone was happy, and they both got wings afterwards. Wings, and - of course - diarrhea. That's Buffalo Wild Wings for you.

The Austin Copperheads are the number one candidate to bounce back after a slow 1-3 start. There is simply too much talent on the roster to justify their poor performance through the first quarter of the season. The Copperheads rank in the upper echelon of TPE for all ISFL teams, and they were picked as a preseason favorite in the ASFC alongside the Arizona Outlaws. I believe their most glaring weakness lies in their defensive line, where three of their four linemen are under 700 TPE. This is somewhat borne out in the season thus far, as Austin is allowing 5.7 yards per carry while the league average is 4.1. I still believe they will be able to compensate for this relative weakness once Daytona finds his groove.

For an early overachiever, look no further than the San Jose Sabercats. After winning three consecutive games by a field goal, they boast an impressive 3-1 record despite a miniscule +6 point differential (oh look, another chance to point out how my team has a positive point differential at 1-3). Unfortunately for San Jose, the teams they are beating are not particularly impressive. The Sabercats will care little about this of course and will be happy to chalk up a win as a win, but I will be surprised if they are able to sustain this level of success against the heavyweights of the ISFL, and they'll have an opportunity to prove me wrong tonight as they travel to Arizona.
