* Leroy Jenkins Get Married - Jiggly_333 - 08-14-2017 This off-season held a lot of changes for Chicago’s sports power couple. Orange County Otter Leroy Jenkins had a change of backfield partner, losing the other half of the deadly “Hot Sauce Committee” Omar Wright to a trade with expansion side Philadelphia Liberty after both had Pro Bowl seasons. His new teammate is the third Pro Bowler Vince Bowers Jr., but Bowers is rumored to be retiring soon. On Dakota Reid’s side, she’s been involved in her own work. After playing a fairly forgettable season in Montreal with the Militia, she was just recently drafted 28th Overall by the Toronto North Stars. While excited to be taken by an SHL franchise, she doesn’t expect to be going down the 401 anytime soon, choosing instead to stay in the SMJHL until she’s ready. One thing they were both ready for, was each other. Spending their shared offseason together at home in Chicago, Leroy proposed to Koda before the coin flip at a Chicago Red Stars game. According to friends close to Leroy, he had already been planning out the wedding for some time to be between the SHL Entry Draft and the start of the NSFL Pre-season, knowing that Koda wasn’t a fan of “planning”. One of the small debates was the location. While they both wanted to keep it close to home, Koda suggested they move it to her home. Specifically, near her father’s home in South Essex. They decided against it, feeling that the travel would be too much for the majority of their families. They held the ceremony at St. Richards church just off of Archer and afterwards took it all the way downtown for their reception at the Chicago Cultural Center (because apparently you can just rent the place; I’ve tried). Of note was a few special guests that made appearances. Of course, Leroy and Koda’s teammates were all invited (with the Best Man and Maid of Honor being Omar Wright and Lui Koller, respectively), but also a few extra friends including Chance the Rapper, who Leroy had been rumored to be working with during the offseason. While there’s still no formal announcement, it seems that Leroy’s already made some music with his help, making a special serenade to Koda (very similar to Lin Manuel Miranda’s wedding, but legally distinct). Also in attendance was Koda’s friend, Danny Pudi who had also grown up on the South Side of Chicago (specifically the Back of the Yards). They had recently gotten in touch when Koda had found that she had played hockey with a cousin of his and quickly became friends. To really put together all that had happened, two influential athletes (okay, maybe just one influential one and an up-and-comer) found happiness with each other and what else should anyone else ask for but to be happy. Congratulations to both Leroy and Dakota Jenkins. I know you you'll get good use from it. I don't need the laser guidance, personally, but I know Dakota likely will. Don't step out of line, Leroy. I figure if anything, it'll be good for any young ones that may come down the line. Train them in the arts early, you know?
