*College football in the ISFL universe - Southie - 07-13-2021

I talked about this in my first podcast but one of the things that fascinates me about the ISFL is how the NCAA College Football world has been affected by the ISFL.  The majority of ISFL/DSFL talent that enters each year's draft comes from NCAA division one college football with a few notable outliers. And the ISFL has been running for close to thirty seasons which means that in our timeline there have been at least thirty NCAA division one champions crowned but since there’s no official record of  these events and players biographies contradict each other (A player may have won a Rose Bowl against USC while playing for Clemson while a player playing for Clemson that same year may have a Cotton Bowl win against  Florida on their resume.) All that’s left is conjecture. This topic is my best guess at what has happened in college football since the league started. My criteria here is simple: I'm looking at the ISFL drafts for each year and guessing what team won the recent National Championship based on the talent that went to the school. I’m using the DSFL as opposed to the ISFL because the DSFL is the league that drafts directly from  college. Except for the first two years because there was no DSFL draft then. I've also included the real life winner up until 2020 just to contrast the two.

2016  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: LSU

Real Life: University Of Alabama

I'm going with  LSU here because they had two hall-of-famers in Dan Miller and Antoine Delacour. Michigan actually had the highest numbers in this draft which could mean they won the National Championship but since almost all of those players were ISFL bust and LSU had seven players drafted as well I think Miller and Delacour could lead the Tigers to victory. It would also make sense that LSU won the National Championship in the ISFL universe when an SEC team in  Alabama won it in real life. I think the NCAA Championship game that year was LSU - 24  Michigan - 17.

2017  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: University of Michigan

Real Life: Clemson University

One year after their loss to LSU in the championship game, the Wolverines  returned to the big game and redeemed themselves. There aren't any standout teams in this year's draft so  the Wolverines win just by having the highest number of drafted players. They probably end up facing  LSU once more and this time defeats them. Michigan - 28  LSU - 10.

2018  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: University of Michigan

Real Life: Alabama Crimson Tide

Michigan became the first college football dynasty in the ISFL universe after appearing in the first three NCAA championship games and winning two of them. While in real life the SEC's run of domination continues when it comes to the college football playoffs, It's an all Big Ten matchup between the University Of Michigan Wolverines and the Wisconsin Badgers as LSU fails to make it three in a row in the championship game.  The Wolverines take down the Badgers 14 -6 in a close hard fought game.

2019  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Ohio State

Real Life: Alabama Crimson Tide

It's another all Big Ten national championship game as Ohio State Takes on The University Of Michigan. This is UoM's fourth straight national championship game and while they are the two-time defending champions they lose to their biggest rivals  Ohio State - 35 Michigan - 12

2020  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Ohio State

Real Life: Alabama Crimson Tide

If you thought back-to-back national championship games for Michigan was unrealistic then this year's national championship between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Boise State Broncos should blow your mind. Thirteen years after their legendary upset of the Oklahoma Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl, The Broncos play in their first ever national championship game and lose to the Buckeyes. Ohio State - 27  Boise State - 24.Meanwhile  in real life the SEC's domination in national championship games continues as Alabama reigns supreme once again.

2021 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: University Of Texas

Once more a non-SEC team wins the college football national championship in the ISFL universe. This time the Longhorns picked up their first national championship since 2005 against the  University Of Miami beating them 35-28 in the final game of the season.
The  Quarterback-Runningback duo of Cole McCoy and Kevin Kendrick prove unstoppable as they lead the Longhorns to their fifth national championship in school history.

2022 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Syracuse University

Things just get weirder in the college football world of the ISFL as famed basketball school Syracuse takes out Clemson in an all ACC  national championship game. The trio of Chad, Thad and Brad Pennington  were able to best future ISFL hall of famer Childish Gambino to win the title,  Syracuse - 10 Clemson - 3.

2023 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Florida State  Seminoles

If you didn’t think college football in the  ISFL was weird then this season should seal it for you as the Kansas Jayhawks  made  the college football national championship. Of particular note is that in the real world the  Jayhawks have a  lifetime record of  588-650-58  with a poultry (get the pun?)  6-6 bowl record. The other half of the game wasn’t as strange however as they faced fellow ACC brethren Florida State in the title game. University Of Kansas -  9 FSU - 20

2024 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Michigan State Spartans

Michigan seems to be the hotbed for amatuer football in the ISFL universe as the Spartans pick up the national championship in 2024 against the University Of Maryland. It’s MSU’s first national championship since 1966. MSU - 21  Maryland Terrapins - 13.

2025 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Ohio State

The Big  Ten dominates college football in the  ISFL universe. Ohio State wins its second National championship in five years as they beat the LSU Tigers in the big game ,  Ohio State - 42 LSU - 14

2026 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: University OF Hawaii

The Rainbow Warriors become the first non-power five team to win the National Championship. In a surprising matchup for the national championship, It’s the University Of Hawaii vs The  Rutgers Scarlet Knights.  This is the third straight national championship game for the Big Ten but this time they lost, University Of Hawaii - 24  Rutgers Scarlet Knights - 21.

2027 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  University Of Nebraska

Another year, Another Big Ten national champion in the ISFL.  The Cornhuskers take down Boston College to win their sixth national championship in history and their first  since 1997.
University Of Nebraska - 35  BC - 6

2028  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: LSU Tigers

The Tigers make their fourth national championship game in the ISFL universe and defeat the Texas Longhorns to take home the prize. LSU - 21 University Of Texas - 10

2029  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Ohio State

This is an interesting season as technically the championship game should be the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Boston University Terriers. The only problem is that while Boston University is a division one  university, they haven’t had a football team since 1997. That gives us another all Big Ten national championship game as Ohio State takes on the Wisconsin Badgers for the College Football Playoff National Championship. Ohio State gets it down once again to win their fourth national championship in the ISFL universe. Ohio State - 13  Wisconsin  Badgers - 10.

2030  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: University Of Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights returned to the national championship game after three  seasons and avenged their defeat against the Rainbow Warriors. They face the University Of Alabama in the title game and handedly defeat them.  Rutgers - 35 Alabama - 13.

2031  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: University Of Oregon

The PAC-12 became the last power five conference to win the ISFL  College Football National Championship as the Oregon Ducks took the title in 2031. In fact it’s an all Pac-12 title game as the Ducks take on the UCLA Bruins in the  championship game.  Oregon defeats the Bruins to become the first PAC-12 national champions in ISFL history.
University Of Oregon - 56  UCLA - 37

2032  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  LSU

The Tigers return to the national championship game for the first time since 2028 and find themselves up against the Florida State Seminoles in the big game. The Tigers are able to get the job with help from safeties Peter Parker and Wayne Howyanow.
LSU - 17  FSU - 0

2033 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Penn State

The Nittany Lions take out the Stanford Cardinals to win their third national championship in school history and the first since 1986. Penn State - 35 Stanford -24

2034  College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: LSU

Behind the talents of star running back Darrel Williams the  Tigers win their second national championship in three years against Arizona State.  LSU - 24 Arizona State - 3.

2035 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  Michigan State Spartans

This one might be a bit controversial. Technically Ohio State had more players drafted in this draft then MSU but Riles McTackle went to Ohio State Lima which is a satellite college of Ohio State proper. That makes him ineligible to play for the Buckeyes and gives the Spartans the national championship in 2035. In fact, The Buckeyes didn't even make the game this year as Notre Dame had the same number of players as them drafted and a higher average draft position.
MSU - 31  Notre Dame - 24

2036 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe: University Of Washington

The Huskies win their third national championship in school history against the University Of Texas Longhorns. Future ISFL MVP Tatsu Nakamura helps lead the  Huskies to Victory. Washington - 42 Texas - 28

2037 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  LSU

My initial thought that the SEC was bad in  ISFL has turned out to be incorrect. It’s just that instead of Alabma dominating the world of college football, It’s LSU.  It’s a rematch of the 2025 national championship game in 2037 as the LSU  Tigers take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. This time the Tigers are able to get the job done and claim their  fifth national championship in the ISFL universe.
LSU - 21 Ohio State - 14

2038 College Football  National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  University Of Florida

The Florida Gators finally win a national championship in the ISFL universe. They actually take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in an all-SEC national title game. Despite Alabama’s 26-14 record in real life the Gators are able to upset  roll tide and bring the national championship back to  the sunshine state.
Florida - 33 Alabama -  21

2039 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  University Of Minnesota
The Golden Gophers win their first national championship since nineteen sixty against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Minnesota  - 9  Rutgers - 7

2040 College Football National Champions:

ISFL Universe:  LSU

LSU wins another national championship in the ISFL. This is an identical rematch of the twenty-thirty seven national championship game as Ohio State takes on the LSU Tigers for the national championship. Once again  the Tigers beat the Buckeyes,  LSU - 31 Ohio State - 16

this is a really cool idea for media. i deliberately avoided talking about national championships with delacour sr because of the likelihood of contradictions etc, then created players from colleges where that wouldnt be an issue (howard, harvard) but its really cool to think about the expanded ISFL universe in this way
