*A Post-Draft Interview with Malcolm Savage - g2019 - 09-05-2021

I'm thrilled to be joined by my Norfolk teammate and new Austin Copperhead, Malcolm Savage. Malcolm, thanks for the time, I know you're a busy man! Let's get right into it.

Sconnie: How does it feel to have been selected as the 10th overall pick and to be going to Austin? Was this something you expected based on your scouting conversations?

Malcolm: Going that high in this league is really an honor. Austin has been battling for seasons on end and are trying to get back to the ultimus. Being the first quarterback off the board is really special. I know the other guys have done really well in their first season and it's always tough being a rookie and facing those defenses. I had great talks with a few teams and Austin was one of them. I'm ready to get to work and bring all that I can to that team to try and win a championship.

Sconnie: When you officially joined the locker room after the draft, what was the reception like? Did any players or war room members reach out right away? Have you connected with anyone there yet?

Malcolm: A lot of people I had known previously. Everyone was very excited to have me on the team. More and more faces kept popping up and greeting me. They are a fun group and I'm excited to get to know them more over the course of my career.

Sconnie: How does it feel to have your Norfolk teammate Johnny Patey joining you in Austin? What are your expectations for your partnership in the ISFL in the future?

Malcolm: We have shown some serious chemistry on the field in Norfolk. He joined the squad later than the rest but really came into his own. He's the perfect safety blanket on a third and long situation. He lines up perfectly as the slot receiver on the team. Everyone looks at Fries and Malcador as the big threats but Patey is a huge part of that offense. I hope to keep slinging it with him and walking things off late in games as the most clutch pairing in the league.

Sconnie: You two have certainly shown to be a clutch duo in the DSFL! Have you had any conversations with your new GMs about when you might be called up and what their goals/expectations of you are?

Malcolm: I will be down a while as they still have Daytona as their main starter. He's still good for a few more seasons. I should be all seasoned down here and have a team around me to succeed. Coming up as one of the first few dual threat signal callers will be exciting. I know the coaching staff is amped to work on tooling that offense to my goals. I will be ready to take the league by storm and be the next wave of success at the position.

Sconnie: I know you are a player who is very connected to both the DSFL and ISFL. Do you have any predictions for Norfolk and Austin this coming season?

Malcolm: Norfolk is not losing much talent and I know the front office will bring in the players we need to make a run at the division. Nearly all of the big name QBs are on their way out so there is a huge opportunity to pull away and succeed out of the gate. I know a lot of our guys have been putting in the work and we are ready for the season to start. Austin is in the peak of their window with a lot of their talent in their primes. They are losing a bit with retirements and such but they have all the pieces they need to run for the Ultimus.

Sconnie: Awesome! It must be exciting to now be a member of two teams who will be seeking some big success this coming season. Is there anything else you'd like to add for our readers today?

Malcolm: Keep your eyes out. This Seawolves team is ready to show the league that we mean business. These guys have all the talent in the world.
