RE: (S31) PT 3 - Investments - Tesla - 09-27-2021 Agent Tesla: Okay then Magnus following the interesting point task of last week. This week we have been asked to discuss what you are doing to maintain your financial freedom after leaving the league. You know how so many athletes go broke and have to resort to sometimes humiliating things to make money. How are you working to avoid that? Magnus Rikiya: Well as you know after I leave the league for all intents and purposes I will cease to exist as my importance to the world that you have created will be gone. However I do have a partner who is a well respected doctor who guarantees my household will always have a steady income. Beyond that I am also a multiple time winner of the World's Strongest Man competition so I do have active income streams outside of football. That said the biggest security I have is the fact that my agent has been absolutely amazing at getting me sponsorship deals that have left me with a bank account that I would honestly struggle to empty in ten lifetimes with my personal interests. Agent Tesla: Do you have a plan to retire after football, or is there another career path that you plan to chase? Magnus Rikiya: I will probably focus on strongman competitions immediately after, but once I can no longer compete my hope is to move into coaching. Getting kids involved and helping them pursue their dreams is my long term goal. Agent Tesla: Well there you have it! Magnus has plans of earning money for a long while yet, but overall his financial security comes from the fact that we are already rich as redacted. Thank you! Everyone has a goldfish as a kid, right? They’re easy to look after, yet still install some responsibility in a young person. They’re also firm favourites with adults that are just useless with anything that requires more attention. That right there, ladies and gentlemen is called demand — and I have the supply! I’ve not invested in breeding any old Goldfish though, oh no! I’ve invested in breeding the finest fish in the country. Most Goldfish are born and then spend their formative period in what is essentially a farm. Mine all have their own diamond encrusted tank and are fed nothing but cavia. To begin with, they refused to eat it but it’s an acquired taste, right? After a few days with nothing else offered to them, they soon started eating it without any issues. At the moment, we have some haters preaching something about animal cruelty but once they’re out of the way. It doesn’t matter what you do, there’s always gonna be someone trying to hold you down. Don’t let the nay-sayers stop you. I won’t. Me and those fish are living our best lives. Smart Fish is gonna be THE premier supplier of Goldfish in the entire country. As much, many modern players have started investing their money in assets and businesses in an attempt to preserve and expand their nest egg. What is your player doing to maintain their financial freedom? It is no suprise players often end up broke within a few years after retiring. Have you seen the cost of gym memberships and the cost of new equipment? Inflation is crazy and contracts do not reflect these inflations. So as I said, it is no suprise players just end up broke. Anyways, Davriel Lavigne has a stone cold plan to make sure that he does not join those other athletes in their broke ways. He will invest all his money in gen 4 pokemon cartridges. Those bastards have become so expensive and will likely only go up futher in the future. He will buy up all the supplies of sealed and unsealed gen 4 games. Sit on them for a few years and then reap the rewards. He will become like an evil supervillian, sitting on a throne of pokemon boxes as the people just want to play the best pokemon games in the entire series. But no Lavigne will only let them go once he makes all the profit from it. What an ass. It is really not cool of him to do this, but he is hellbent on having an evil supervillian arc once he is retired so there is no stopping him now. [207 words] RE: (S31) PT 3 - Investments - OrbitingDeath - 09-27-2021 Cobra Kai has his future life already figured out, he lives in a cheap rental place, hardly has any furniture or luxuries and doesn’t need much money to continue this lifestyle. The only thing he needs is his daily dose of Coors Banquet. He currently has a bank account for about 360 million dollar, so even if he goes on a spending spree, it is unlikely that he will run into money issues. This cheap lifestyle has enabled him to save up a lot of cash, without fancy investment opportunities. Since the isfl stock market closed down he has no idea what to buy for stocks, so he just invests it in sixpacks instead. Where others are living on the edge, buying state of the art cars, clothing and all the electronical gadget they can think of, Cobra Kai recently bought a betamax device to watch movies at home, he heard they will beat the vhs systems, so this must be a good investment for him. There’s no need for the amount of money he has on the bank as he could live of the interest of it pretty easily, but it is always nice to have a couple of hundred million spare incase the beer prices go up, but if that doesn’t happen, this lifestyle should have Cobra Kai set for life. RE: (S31) PT 3 - Investments - Pvtpenne - 09-27-2021 I’ve always been a conservative spender so not going broke shortly after retirement shouldn’t be a problem for me. As is family tradition, the only thing I spend big on is food. Even so, with my culinary training I can make some cheap materials go a long way. All that said, my money will not just be sitting around in a checking account waiting to be used. TO THE MOON! Tesla, AMC, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Doge, you name the meme, I own the meme! Just kidding, my money will go into a diverse portfolio of long-term stocks, bonds, and index funds. Having a pro football salary, I don’t really need to be risky in my investments. Safe investments will last me the rest of my life and leave a good amount to pass down when I am gone. After I have enough to live comfortably the rest of my life, I might invest in some passion projects. Invest in some community start ups or non profits that help the less fortunate in the area I live or the area(s) I lived out my professional football career. It’s a real two birds with one stone scenario, helping others to build their careers and dreams while also making some money for myself. RE: (S31) PT 3 - Investments - Pat - 09-27-2021 Since the moment he first arrived down in Tijuana playing for the Luchadores, Doy Fieri has been quite the restauranteur. In fact, during his first season in the DSFL, he opened his first place - a modest 30 seat diner in the heart of Tijuana's up and coming Zona Maduro named Sofrito del Slattery - to glowing reviews. Since then, he's estimated he has invest about 85% of his total earnings from contract money and sponsorships to expand his burgeoning food empire. Doc took everything into account when he first got drafted. In fact, he planned for it before he got started in the league. Doc was thinking about what to do with his money and how he would set himself up. He bought a plot of land and a trailer, the land was just under 90k and is roughly 10 Acres of property. He runs mostly off solar but put in a well and dug a hole in the ground for… other things. It’s just him and hi blue tick Delilah so there really isn’t a ton of money going out right now. The rest of it he put into savings and bonds ensuring that he is set up for the future. While in his short tenure at Tombstone U, home of the desperados, Doc took some classes in financial planning. Based on what he learned he made some solid investments from his portfolio. He was looking for slow and steady gainers that would set himself up for success in the long run. Doc also took a small investment into one of his friends' side business where they rent out bounce houses for parties. “The more spread out my money is, the better the outcome” Doc says with a grin on his face. (side note, Doc has also spread coffee cans with cash all over his property.) There is upwards of 1M spread around the Fireball land. “Yup, and I got it all up here”. As he taps the side of his head. Needless to say, Doc is fairly well set for the future. [277 words] RE: (S31) PT 3 - Investments - WildfireMicro - 09-27-2021 Tsuyu Asui is well aware how fleeting contract money can be, having seen broke players firsthand. Luckily for her, she has a few plans to keep that from happening to her. She knows that she is a great cook from what others have told her. So knowing this, she has a plan to open a Japanese restaurant in the heart of Philadelphia called The Froggy Den. She already has connections in the local restaurant scene that can help in this pursuit and is hoping to get this started once she actually retires. She also has started to get into investing into local businesses that has gotten her the connections with local restaurants. She has also started trading stocks with a financial advisor she hired. The advisor represents a lot of sports stars in Philadelphia amd came highly recommended by Ryan Negs. He has already helped make her able to he financially secure for many years to come and have a big fortune for her kids if she decides to have some. He also has helped her in planning out The Froggy Den due to his knowledge of running a restaurant. All in all, she has handled her riches very well and is set to live comfortably for a long time to come. |
