*Hiring: Safeties Needed - By-Tor - 10-05-2021

So, since a team be drafting my player soon and let's face it, I need money, here goes my thoughts on the two teams that absolutely need a safety. I'll look at branding and team composition. I was hesitant at first to look at who is on each roster because I didn't want to favor any people I know from SHL. But in the interest in getting to know the team, I decided it was needed.

Branding: Not too shabby. I like it. I really like the color scheme as it is almost identical to the new car I just bought lol. I appreciate a team locating somewhere that doesn't see a lot of sports action (as far as I know), but I'm not sure the connection with "Wraiths"? While I like the design, many teams decide to pick a team name coinciding with local culture or history. Maybe Yellowknife is haunted? If it is, 10/10 - great job. Whenever I look at the Wraith logo, the first thought that pops in my head are the Hollowmen from Fable 3 and me putting musket shot through their faces.

Team: First thought as a safety: this place looks like a prime spot to land. Both starting safeties are nearing retirement. A quick search through Wiki shows they drafted Tre Washington 2 seasons ago to fill the safety hole for the future, but I can't find him, so maybe IA or changed positions? As far as I can tell, they look to be a pretty good, but aged team. I suspect a rebuild coming in the near future. That could set LaDamien Beck up nicely to be one of their centerpieces on D.

Branding: Almost the same nice color of blue as the Wraiths, except going green on secondary. I really like the color scheme and the location/brand match up. Coastal city in Florida with a fish as a mascot? That's about as "seems right" as you can get. While deep sea fishing can for sure be scary, the "Sailfish" doesn't exactly strike fear into opponents hearts. I like the logo: very crisp, but this is one of those that could be made up into like 4 alternates to mix it up every week. It almost gives me Arizona Coyotes howl vibes when they could do the Kachina.

Team: Again, old rostered safeties. Sarasota looks to be more in their prime than Yellowknife, and more active too. They look to be a better team on paper than there roster indicates. Does that mean they have a subpar GM? Lol jk - I'm sure they are just par. So sad for them, their safety they drafted recently went IA so they are also in the market for a future safety. They also seem to be more gifted on the offensive side of the ball, so a defensive rebuild may be in the works.

Edit: Apologies to Spike Daniels, I didn't see you there. No doubt you need a long term partner in crime?

I didn't go too deep on either of these teams, so I'm not sure what their other positional needs are, but safety must be at the top of their boards. There are four safeties over 100 TPE in this draft - I expect two of them to go to these two teams. And based on my initial introduction to both teams, I would be stoked to go either place. Tbh, they have the top 2 color schemes in the league.

Sarasota just drafted a safety in the 1st round of last seasons draft and he is most certainly not inactive.

I missed them then - did they change position? No safety is listed as being drafted by Sarasota last season according to the Wiki.

A handy tool we have here that might make this easier on you is the ISFL Team Budgets sheet: CLICK

T
his shows all players under contract with every ISFL team, and is split into ISFL and DSFL rosters. Is also shows their player age and their current TPE level.

He's in there.

But I will +1 Pat's recommendation to rely more on the budget sheet than the wiki as it's usually more up to date.
