*Historical OL Rankings - Who is the Greatest of all time? [Part 1] - NicholasTheGreat - 10-10-2021

Hello everybody!

Welcome to my next piece of historical Offensive Lineman work where I will utilise a points system that will tell me who the greatest Offensive Lineman are of all time. This list is only compromised of humans and the stats were taken at the end of Season 30. Another thing to note is that you only received credit for events if you were an Offensive Lineman.

Points System

The points system used is:
- 0.1 Points per Pancake
- -1 Point per Sack
- 62 Points for 1st in Pancakes, 61.5 for 2nd, all the way down to 0.5 for 124th and 0 for 125th
- 5 Points Per Season Played
- 10 Points for Winning an Ultimus
- 15 Points for making a Pro Bowl
- 30 Points for an Offensive Lineman of the Year Award
- 50 Points for a Most Valuable Player/ Most Outstanding Player/ Offensive Player of the Year
- 100 Points for being a Hall of Famer [The points are pro-rata’d for the amount of time the player spent as an Offensive Lineman, for example someone who spent half their career as an Offensive Lineman would get 50 points of the 100]

Other Information

Now, before we get into the full rankings, I need to bring something else up. For complete fairness, I went and awarded Pro Bowl spots as well as Offensive Lineman of the Year in seasons where those awards were not. I chose who won those spots with who had the most pancakes, with 10 taken off per sack allowed. Having a set system allows for less bias Let me run through what I added

S4 Pro Bowl – 5 Offensive Lineman Played. 3 of them were awarded Pro Bowl Honours
S14 Pro Bowl – There was 1 Offensive Lineman from each conference. Both of them were awarded Pro Bowl Honours
S16 Pro Bowl – There was 1 Offensive Lineman and he gets Pro Bowl Honours by default
S17 Pro Bowl – There was 1 Offensive Lineman and he gets Pro Bowl Honours by default
S18 Pro Bowl – There were 4 Offensive Lineman, 2 from each conference. The top OL from each conference gets Pro Bowl Honours
S19 Pro Bowl – There were 5 Offensive Lineman, 3 from one conference and 2 from the other. 2 lineman from the conference of 3 get Pro Bowl and 1 from the conference of 2.
S20 Pro Bowl – There were 5 Offensive Lineman, all from the same conference. 3 of them will get Pro Bowl Honours
S21 Pro Bowl – There were 4 Offensive Lineman, all from the same conference. 2 of them will get Pro Bowl Honours.
S4 OLOTY – Was given to a bot. I corrected this and gave it to a human
S14, S16 and S17. OLOTY were not given out so I did the honours.

The Ranking

125th : Thaddeus Bullard [-7.6 Points]

Drafted: Season 2, Pick 66
Teams Played for: Las Vegas Legion LVL

- 1 Season Played
- 34 Pancakes [117th]
- 20 Sacks Allowed

Thaddeus Bullard takes the honours as the worst Offensive Lineman of all time. His 20 sacks allowed in a single season is the greatest amount allowed by a player in the history of the iSFL, its also the 2nd most all time when you include Offensive Lineman bots. A truly horrible seasons leads to a truly horrible career.

124th : Bretty Dodggy [-1.1 Points]

Drafted: Season 2, Pick 44
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty PHI

- 1 Season Played
- 24 Pancakes [120th]
- 11 Sacks Allowed

Brett Dodggy picks up the honours as second worst offensive lineman of all time. He played a single terrible season for Philadelphia, almost racking up a sack allowed per every second pancake.

123rd : Luc Long [-0.8 Points]

Drafted: Undrafted
Teams Played for: Las Vegas Legion LVL

- 1 Season Played
- 22 Pancakes [121st]
- 10 Sacks Allowed

Luc Long was a part of the Offensive Line for Las Vegas in Season 2 that allowed a ridiculous amount of sacks, 53 in a single season. His sacks allowed dropped him 2 spots from his pancakes rating. He is also the last player on this list that finishes with a negative amount of career ranking points.

122nd : Eli Kamaka [1.5 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 44
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty PHI

- 1 Season Played
- 20 Pancakes [122nd]
- 7 Sacks Allowed

Eli Kamaka played a single seasons, allowing a sack per 3 pancakes. He’s career rankings reflects his pancakes ranking with Kamaka finishing 122nd in both.

121st : Bradley MadLad [1.6 Points]

Drafted: Season 2, Pick 74
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty, Orange County Otters PHI OCO

- 2 Seasons Played
- 41 Pancakes [114th]
- 18 Sacks Allowed

Bradley Madlad is a couple of firsts for this list. He is the first player on this list to play for 2 seasons as well as the first player to play for multiple teams. Also the first player for the Orange County Otters on this list.

120th : Adam Bennett [2.8 Points]

Drafted: Season 1, Pick 74
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty PHI

- 2 Seasons Played
- 68 Pancakes [95th]
- 29 Sacks Allowed

29 Sacks Allowed was one of the highest of all time until recent modern Offensive Linemen passed him. Coincidentally, players drafted 74th in Season 1 and 2 have landed at 120th and 121st on this list respectively. Bennett’s final career ranking is 25 spots lower then his pancake ranking, one of the biggest drops in the entire list.

119th : Jazzy J [3 Points]

Drafted: Season 2, Pick 69
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty PHI

- 1 Season Played
- 0 Pancakes [125th]
- 2 Sacks Allowed

This is one of the weirdest Offensive Lineman careers on this list. Jazzy allowed 2 sacks in their career but never registered a pancake. It is probably a flaw of the points system that Jazzy is not 125th in the ranking but here we are, they are 119th.

118th: Rico Rodriguez [5.3 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 20
Teams Played for: Colorado Yeti COL

- 1 Season Played
- 38 Pancakes [116th]
- 8 Sacks Allowed

Rico brings about the first appearance of the Colorado Yeti on this list. Rodriguez played a single mediocre seasons and was never seen again.

117th : Crith Coalrange [7.9 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 49
Teams Played for: Las Vegas Legion LVL

- 1 Season Played
- 44 Pancakes [110th]
- 9 Sacks Allowed

Coalrange played a single season in the league, and a mediocre one that was for the Las Vegas Legion. His career points is 7 places lower then his actual pancake ranking.

116th : Alonzo Charles [9.6 Points]

Drafted: Season 2, Pick 26
Teams Played for: Baltimore Hawks BAL

- 1 Season Played
- 41 Pancakes [114th]
- 5 Sacks Allowed

This is the first appearance of the Baltimore Hawks on this list. Charles played a single poor season for the Hawks and then faded away from the league. He ends up in the bottom 10 of the OL rankings.

115th : Cesar Milan [10.4 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 17
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty PHI

- 1 Season Played
- 54 Pancakes [103rd]
- 11 Sacks Allowed

Another single season ‘sensation’. Well, not really but the alliteration worked. Cesar had a decent single season pancake total but his 11 sacks in the season dropped him down the list.

114th : Juan Andres [10.7 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 32
Teams Played for: Baltimore Hawks BAL

- 1 Season Played
- 47 Pancakes [107th]
- 8 Sacks Allowed

I’m running out of things to describe people who are exactly the same. Andres career ranking is 7 places lower then his pancake rankings.

113th: John Jones [11.2 Points]

Drafted: Undrafted
Teams Played for: Yellowknife Wraiths YKW

- 1 Season Played
- 27 Pancakes [118th]
- 0 Sacks Allowed

John Jones sees the first mentioning of the Yellowknife Wraiths, a formation franchise in the league. Jones is also the lowest ranked player that has not allowed a sack. This meant his pancake rating is actually 5 places lower then his career ranking.

112th : Pope Francis [13.8 Points]

Drafted: Season 26, Pick 41
Teams Played for : Honolulu Hahalua HON

- 1 Season Played
- 48 Pancakes [105th]
- 6 Sacks Allowed

The first modern player on this list, Pope Francis played OL for a single season in S29 and hasn’t been seen since. His single season was extremely mediocre, especially in modern times. Francis’s appearance on this list also marks the first appearance of the Honolulu Hahalua.

111th: Sachimo Zoidberg [14.3 Points]

Drafted: Undrafted
Teams Played for: Arizona Outlaws ARI

- Season 2 Ultimus Champion [Arizona Outlaws]
- 1 Season Played
- 18 Pancakes [124th]
- 3 Sacks Allowed

Zoidberg has the second fewest pancakes of all time but has his career rankings place 13 spots higher. The result of this is Zoidberg being part of the Arizona Outlaws when they won the Ultimus in season 2, which was a part of their three-peat that is clouded with controversy. Zoidberg is the lowest ranked player on this list that has something on their resume.

110th : Francois Lamoreux [15.1 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 9
Team Played for: Las Vegas Legion, Yellowknife Wraiths LVL YKW

- 2 Seasons Played
- 46 Pancakes [108th]
- 8 Sacks Allowed

Francois was drafted highly but flamed out quickly.  A couple of games in season 2 and a mediocre season 3 saw the end of Francois Lamoreux. His career point rankings are very close to his pancake ranking, with just 2 spots difference.

109th : Cleg Manclaw [15.3 Points]

Drafted: Season 25, Pick 51
Teams Played for: Chicago Butchers CHI

- 1 Season Played
- 58 Pancakes [100th]
- 8 Sacks Allowed

Manclaw marks the first appearance of the Chicago Butchers in this list, one of the teams who embraced the Offensive Line movement in the modern era building some of the greatest human lines in history. After starting as a Tight End, he switched to a Offensive Lineman in Season 30. He had a poor season in S30 with 8 sacks allowed. His pancakes though, got him into the top 100 in all time pancakes.

108th : Jordan Danvers [16.3 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 60
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty, Baltimore Hawks PHI BAL

- 2 Seasons Played
- 58 Pancakes [100th]
- 12 Sacks Allowed

Danvers poor sack numbers dropped him 8 spots from his pancake ranking. His 2 seasons and average pancake numbers should’ve seen him placed higher then 108th but that is where he stands.

107th : Rudy Gray [16.8 Points]

Drafted: Season 28, Pick 46
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty PHI

- 1 Season Played
- 48 Pancakes [105th]
- 3 Sacks Allowed

Rudy Gray is an active Offensive Lineman whose career ranking should change as his career develops. He has had 1 season so far which has seen him perform averagely.

106th : Bernard Forthward [17.8 Points]

Drafted: Season 2, Pick 79
Teams Played for: Colorado Yeti COL

- 2 Seasons Played
- 53 Pancakes [104th]
- 8 Sacks Allowed

Bernard player 2 poor seasons for the Colorado Yeti and ended up 2 spots lower then his pancake rating as a result.

105th : Archetype Schmarchetype [19.2 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 16
Teams Played for: Arizona Outlaws ARI

- Season 3 Ultimus Champion [Arizona Outlaws]
- 1 Season Played
- 27 Pancakes [118th]
- 2 Sacks Allowed

Schmarchetype finished 13 places above his pancake rating which was the result of him winning the Ultimus with the Arizona Outlaws, the team that drafted him with the last pick of round 2 in that draft. His decent season with only a couple of sacks allowed also boosted him up the career rankings.

104th : Gui Worthy [19.7 Points]

Drafted: Season 2, Pick 88
Teams Played for: Arizona Outlaws ARI

- Season 2 Ultimus Champion [Arizona Outlaws]
- 1 Season Played
- 42 Pancakes [112th]
- 6 Sacks Allowed

Worthy is another one season player who was lucky enough to be drafted early on by the Arizona Outlaws, the team that one the first 3 Ultimus Championships in controversial fashion. His single season recorded an average amount of pancakes but was poor with sacks allowed.

103rd : Arbin Asipi [20.9 Points]

Drafted: Season 1, Pick 66
Teams Played for: Arizona Outlaws ARI

- Season 3 Ultimus Champion [Arizona Outlaws]
- 1 Season Played
- 44 Pancakes [110th]
- 6 Sacks Allowed

Asipi was a part of all 3 of the Arizona Outlaws early season Ultimuses, but he only gets credited for 1 here as he wasn’t an offensive lineman for the rest of the winning championships. His 1 season, he did play offensive lineman was quite poor which might explain why he went back to playing defence after Season 3.

102nd : Bobby Tarantino [21.1 Points]

Drafted: Season 27, Pick 24
Teams Played for: Philadelphia Liberty PHI

- 1 Season Played
- 61 Pancakes [99th]
- 3 Sacks Allowed

Bobby has had a single season so far and was pretty average, especially for the new sim. His sacks allowed dropped him down a little bit in the rankings.

101st : Wallace Stone [21.2 Points]

Drafted: Season 3, Pick 18
Teams Played for: Baltimore Hawks, Las Vegas Legion BAL LVL

- 2 Seasons Played
- 57 Pancakes [102nd]
- 6 Sacks Allowed

Wallace Stone played 2 crap seasons and didn’t really do much. His pancake tally is fairly reflective of his actual position with only 1 spot difference between.

Conclusion

That's it for this article, I don't want to make something 6000 or 7000 words long that no one will read. I will start working on the next part shortly after I finish some products! Who do you think will be the goat?

How did you come up with the scoring rubric? This is a fun article. I hope you see more of the series!

I sort of just messed around with it until he all fell into place.

The Pancake/Sacks Allowed points reflect my views on award voting (10 pancakes = a sack allowed)

Then i worked out a number for the Pro Bowl and worked around that. Ultimus Champion worth less and an OLOTY worth more.

I think its ended up with something relatively fair.

Today I learned that Las Vegas Legion was a thing.

Nice media piece. Finally the best position gets some attention
