* NSFL S2 Award Predictions - Daybe - 08-22-2017
NSFL Most Valuable Player Award: Jayce Tuck of the Arizona Outlaws
The Arizona Outlaws are easily the best team in the NSFL this season. They're 10-2 and are coming off a tough win against the Yellowknife Wraiths in Canada. They're undefeated at home and are the heavy favorite to win the Ultimus. And the star on this team is Jayce Tuck. While Tuck is on defense and may not get the same amount of recognition as players like Reg Mackworthy and King Bronko, Tuck has been playing amazing. He's racked up a whopping 16 sacks in 12 games with 55 tackles and an incredible 17 tackles for a loss. He also has a safety. While Mackworthy, Bronko, Pest, and Ernston are all posting impressive seasons, Tuck takes home the cake for the MVP.
Honorable mentions: Hariff Ernston, Robert Phelps
NSFL Offensive Player of the Year Award: Robert Phelps of the Orange County Otters
Robert Phelps is having a historic season. The wideout has 1304 yards on the season (100 yards per game!), 5 touchdowns, and 78 receptions. These numbers are incredible and Phelps has already eclipsed the record for single-season receiving yards, passing Josh Garden's 1178 mark. He averages 16.7 yards per reception and has just been absolutely fantastic for the Otters. He is a huge part of the Otters playoff push, after they started off the season just 1-3. Needless to say, he's been one of the biggest factors of the Otters playoff push and deserves the OPOTY easily.

NSFL Defensive Player of the Year Award: Mark Ramrio of the Las Vegas Legion
Mark Ramrio's season is one of the best ever for a defensive tackle. His 17 sacks leads the league, and what makes it more impressive is that he is a defensive tackle rather than a defensive end or pass rushing linebacker. To go along with that, he leads all defensive linemen in tackles with 61, and has recorded a safety. At this point, the only thing holding him back from MVP is his record, as the Legion have struggled all season long to get some point of consistency. Ramrio is one of the lone bright spots for this year's Las Vegas Legion. With more team success he would be in contention for more.

NSFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award: Tim Pest of the Arizona Outlaws
This was the hardest decision I had to make and probably the most controversial. I decided to choose Tim Pest over Darlane Farlane, the league's leading rusher and one of the most instrumental pieces in the Baltimore Hawks' playoff push. While Darlane Farlane has posted an impressive season, it is watered down by his measly 3.3 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Tim Pest has not allowed a single sack and is eighth in the league in pancakes. Farlane is doing great, but he gets a huge workload and his offensive line is performing extremely well for him this season.

NSFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award: Luke Luechly of the Arizona Outlaws
The #40 pick is the DROTY. How surprising! He beats out Dermot Lavelle and Tyler Oles slightly. The rookie has 82 tackles and 10 sacks, and has shown incredible promise, especially considering the fact that he went all the way at #40. It's certainly an incredible steal for the Outlaws, as Luechly has had the best S2 of all S2 rookies.

NSFL Comeback Player of the Year Award: Erasmo Broadway of the Baltimore Hawks
Erasmo Broadway last year was disappointing. In 14 games, he recorded a mere 39 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 interception. This year, Broadway has 111 tackles in 13 games, nearly THREE TIMES what he recorded last season. He also has 11 sacks this season. Nearly FOUR TIMES what he recorded last season. The improvement from his disappointing S1 is incredible, and he deserves this award more than anybody else.

Great article. One thing I was wondering about the rookie of the year awards, shouldn't there be a true Rookie of the year award? It feels bizarre having Pest win Rookie of the year when he played so much last year.

I think you need two awards, true rookie and rookie class of the year on both offense and defense.

Nice write up! But yeah, just to argue for my side, I came in way later than most S2 rookies, had no experience and was a starting back in my first NSFL playing time. So I came in with way less TPE against really advanced defenses, so I think considering that, and the fact that my YPC is comparable to other RBs with way more TPE, I'd say I have a strong argument for Rookie of the Year.

Has 62 Tackles, 3 Ints, 1/1 FF/FR, 1 TD, 2 Sacks, and 5 PDs.
Impact player all over the field, and he's a true rookie

0 sacks allowed is quite incredible. he's posting up similar numbers to Angus Winchester's MVP season. But yeah there should be a true rookie award

i agree. it was really hard to decide on roty. i initially had you penciled in for roty seeing as you're the league's leading rusher over so many elite S1 players. i'll create an award for true rookies next time i do something like this. :cheers:
