*Hon Vs NYS - Beck - 11-10-2021 For the first time in their franchise’s history, the Honolulu Hahalua opened the season with a unique goal: defending their championship. The season started yesterday and what a battle it was. Below is the game summary of week one, game one of the first game in Honolulu’s championship defending season. Week one saw the Honolulu Hahalua faced off against the New York Silver Backs. The Silver Back’s won the ultimus 2 seasons ago, so this was one of the primier matchups heading in to week one. The game started off the opposite of what Honolulu fans and players had hope. New York came out firing on all cylinders. Credit to their team for coming into the season so prepared. The game started out a back and forth defensive battle with multiple big defensive plays from both teams stopping seemingly promising drives. The referees seemed intent on making an impact on this game. They called a whopping 10 penalties in the first quarter alone. With a minute and thirty-one seconds left in the first quarter, the Silver Backs struck first and scored on a 2 yard pass from Howitzer to Radetzky. My Honolulu Hahalua struck back within a minute and scored on an eight yard pass to all world newcomer and recent Honolulu free agent signee Sam the Onion Man. The second quarter came and went with the referees making a substantial impact again. Who would have thought that sim referees would be just as bad as real life ones? 5 Penalties were called in the 2nd quarter. The Highlight of the second quarter was a 5 yard rush by Captain Rodgers. Honolulu added a field goal to cut the lead before half time. The story of this quarter was the aggressive approach that each team took. Aggression is good when it works, but in this quarter it did not for either team. Both teams had a turnover on downs this quarter. Going into the third quarter Sal Ami fumbled on Honolulu’s first possession. I still think my knee was down and that this was not a fumble, however the sim referees ruled otherwise. This led to another touchdown by New York. The theme of the night was the quick responses by Honolulu’s offense. In this case, they score a few minutes later, where all pro and future hall of famer Cobra Kai scored from one yard out followed by a successful two point conversion. For Honolulu, their defensive players were making plays all night long. The third quarter brought numerous tackles and stops by Slammu and Lavigne. This quarter ended with another rush touch down by Captain Rogers. As the quarter ended Honolulu’s Christ Jr was sacked for a 6 yard loss by safety Lawrence Miller. Slammu opened up the 4th quarter with a sack for an 11 yard loss in the 4th quarter. Later in the quarter Sam the Onion man scored another touchdown. (Sid and Flex early front runners for General Managers of the year again for some of these signings they made). This game was an electric factory of stress and anxiety regardless of whichever team you rooted for. With two minutes left in the 4th quarter, New York punted and the ball went out on the 3 yard line. The ability to handle adversity is something that separates pretenders from contenders and if Monday’s game was any indicator, Honolulu handled adversity. Christ Jr ran the 2 minute offense to perfection completing passes to 5 different receivers while leading his team down the field to a field goal to send the game into overtime. Honolulu, David Frank made the play of the game with an 11 yard sack on second down. Frank makes plays when they matter most and this was probably the play of the game. This led to a punt. A few plays later, Cobra Kai ran for one of his patented 60 yard gallops down field and put Honolulu within scoring position in the red zone. Five plays later, Christ Jr tossed his millionth touchdown of the game to Savage for a game winning touchdown. Ultimately, Honolulu was able to win the game in over time. New York fought their hardest and unfortunately came up just short in this ball game. This was a game for the ages. I had 6 heart attacks by the time the game ended. This was a big win for our ball club and I hope this season is as exciting as last. I know we are excited to be defending our championship, and New York gave us all we could handle in this first game of the season. Thanks for reading along! I really appreciate it. I am needing some money so going to be writing game recaps occasionally throughout the season. I hope you all enjoyed! #RideTheWave RE: Hon Vs NYS - Raven - 11-10-2021 Hell yeah, what a game that was |
