*Prospect Holdouts on the rise - kcheng686 - 08-31-2017 Minneapolis Tribune - "Dont draft me" seems like the last phrase that should never come out of an aspring player's mouth to an interested GM, but in the recent weeks, 3 highly touted prospects have told GMs of teams what their preferred, or only team, is. Ricky Sandoval, the talented DT and one of the most highly regarded prospects in the S3, has told the media he prefers the Otter, the Sabercats, and the Hawks above all. He also laughed mockingly at the prospect of playing for the Legion, as they are a pretty poor team overall with no picks. Quotes from Sandoval: On the Otters: "This is the team that took me in, built me into the family, and accepted me. Also, the snail racing is a pretty fantastic locker room perk. Molarpistols and Roshambo are great GMs, and the team atmosphere is fantastic." It seems his time in the Otters has left quite the impression on him. As one of the most talented teams, and one of the youngest, its understandable why Sandoval would love to go back and replicate the success he had in Orange County, and why the Otters top his list. On the Sabercats: "This is a team located in the same place where my charity is located. I think that is a huge benefit to me. Lastly, this is one of two teams that approached me BEFORE the Ultimus happened, something that is a huge jump on the other teams." Although the Sabercats maybe not be the most successful team, they took the initiative and contacted him pre-Ultimus, and that impressed Sandoval mightily enough to make him vault them to near the top of his list. The Sabercats believe Sandoval would be a great addition to the Defensive Line, and would make them one of the most talented young teams in the league, and its obvious Sandoval feels the same way. On the Hawks: "This is the second team that approached me before the Ultimus to ask about my interest in joining their team. I don't know too much about them, but they seem nice, and I like their style". The Hawks were the other team to contact Sandoval before Ultimus. Despite having an extraordinarily strange season where they had a negative differential, but finished first in their division, they are still a title contending team and their playstyle has attracted Sandoval. On the Legions: "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAA". Legion is easily the worst team in the league, complicated by the fact that their GM seemed to want one-up Billy King, trading away tons of picks for even worse results. Obviously Sandoval most likely has no intention of ever playing for the Legion, and may consider a holdout if he falls far enough to be drafted by them Sandoval's public interview was quickly followed by 2 players declaring that they would only play for 1 team or holdout, and that the other teams should scram. Al Sims, one of the best K prospects in the S3 draft, has uploaded an article on why he wanted to play for the Otters, and why no other team should pick him. In his article, he tells the others GMs in the league that "If you aren’t the orange county otters I am sorry but its not a personal thing", and that to all the teams who arent Orange County, if you want to draft him, "please don’t. there are other kickers and they would be a good fit for your teams and would probably be good for you." His reasons for his preference of Orange County include "a friendly and good group" of people, people who "took a new player under there leadership and helped me learn what to do and to be better", and "there are people there who direct message me and help me to get my stats updated, do the tasks and spend my points in the right spots". Most of all, he states that he feels like he would have the most fun in Orange County. Outside of his terrible grammar, Sims had few flaws as a K prospect, and this will indubitably be a huge blow to many teams who need help in special teams. So if you arent the Otters and were hoping for Sims to be the answer at K, tough luck to you. Maybe next year will be the answer. Lastly, just recently, Calkewlated Chambers the Third, another highly regarded DT prospect in the S3 class, has told media that he will be holding out if he was not picked by the Sabercats. He cites religious reasons, a disconnect to his people, and his ties to his father and grandfather as the driving forces behind his request. Most of all, he references a dream he had where he was "A dancing Ohlone proclaimed to be my ancestor. He then transformed into my late grandfather and proceeded to tel me that I must follow the ancient ways before dancing again and transforming himself into a large cat. " There may be a multitude of reasons behind this dream(Drank bad milk? Fever? Took too much LSD?), but its commendable for Chambers to follow his dream, as I never had the courage to follow mine and become a belly-dancer with a talking dolphin sidekick I saved from SeaWorld. Thus, Chambers, or "Cake", has told other GMs to scram, and let him go to the Sabercats. Good luck to all the teams that need a DT and are not the Otters or Sabercats, 2 of the best prospects at that position have told you to not bother picking them at all. And you know what. I'm quitting this job to follow my dream. I hate the pay, I hate my boss(Tweeting a video of you spinning a fidget spinner while blasting Lil Uzi Vert does NOT make you "So IN right now", Jake), and I'd rather slam my head against the computer than write another article about how "Next year is the year" for the damn "Soooo Fucking spo0ky " Timberwolves or let the Vikings break my heart AGAIN. HOW DO YOU START 5-0 AND MISS THE PLAYOFFS!?!?!?! I WILL SNAP THE NECK OF THE NEXT PERSON WHO TRIES TO MAKE A WIDE RIGHT JOKE!! Anyway, teams are growing increasingly worried about the number of holdouts, and it remains to be see if the holdouts are successful, and if more will follow. If the holdouts are successful, this may change how the draft works forever, as prospect will be able to holdout for their preferred teams, and leave franchises like the Legions in the dust.
