*A look at stat priorities for Defensive Linemen. - 7hawk77 - 09-07-2017

Hello again.

It's been a while since I've last done one of these. I've decided to take a look at defensive linemen again. For this, I've kept the initial season 1 data and then added the season 2 data as well to get more data for my correlated attributes to stats.

I would like to note that I did normalize player values that did not play 14 games. I threw out a few players that obviously didn't start for the games they "played" as to not screw up the data.

Anyways, here we go!

S2 Player stats:

S2 Player Attributes:

New tackling coefficients.

Note that this is combining all of the data from season 1 and season 2.

New Tackle for loss coefficients.

New Forced Fumble coefficients.

New Sack coefficients.

Updated archetype analysis breakdown:

For this I'm only looking at the max of the attributes and only using significant and positively correlated attributes to calculate the aggregate scores below:

And finally, the moment you've all been waiting for..... Did the DT rework actually balance the archetypes?

Looks like it.

Nose tackle looks a little bit worse on here, however I believe that since it is the heaviest archetype, it actually gets a slight boost to it's final ranking. Also, since it has a niche roll compared to the other defensive tackles, it seems fine to me.

I think that if any of the archetypes had fallen below 95% then it might be cause for concern. I'm definitely pleased.

Anyways, this has less analysis than the last time I posted all of this information so please feel free to ask me any questions.

Cheers

Edit: I typo'd. Interior rusher is the best sacker. That should be a #1 not a #3.

I also decided to add the Defensive End archetype break down:

Figured I'd tag @Ballerstorm to show that the DT archetypes balance seems to be going well.

Added Defensive End archetype breakdown in OP.

It's Also balanced. In the future I might look in to DT vs DE.

Apparently you were the only defensive linemen I skipped when importing your stats. I had your attributes but I didn't map them to the stats since I missed you.

I added you and it really didn't effect my results. Stat priority for all of the stats are the same except forced fumble coefficients.

It is now : Strength> Agility>Tackling>Endurance>Speed>Intelligence
from
Strength> Agility>Tackling>Endurance>Intelligence>Speed

Probably irrelevant either way. Fumbles seem pretty random/high variance.
